Tony Allen is a great defender, so I don't want to take anything away from his great play in the last minute of the Clippers/Grizzlies game (which the Grizzlies just tied). However, if you need to get the ball inbounds, why in the world would you ever throw it in Tony Allen's direction? The Clippers are such morons.

I have read with some fascination all these months (and years) the ongoing battle between stats and "the eye," and of course the pro-Melo and anti-Melo factions. It's true that Blair and Leonard were both "intelligent" picks based on stats, but that still only tells part of the story. Stephen Jackson, for example, the late season pickup, has terrible stats but has played brilliantly for the Spurs, from the very first game when he bumped the hell out of Dirk Nowitski. He was great again tonight. It remains to be seen whether Blair will ever get consistent enough to do more than bounce around the next few years, but Leonard looks like he will be in a Spurs uniform for the next 10 years.

Since I am also a Knicks fan, it does make me genuflect toward the Spurs FO in terms of putting together this team. Paddy Mills would be playing 40+ minutes a night for the Knicks...

I'll be praying for a miracle to overcome the LeBrons, but I'm mostly hoping to watch a Lin/Shump backcourt for the next several years.

Some stats guy backed them with his pseudoscientific PAWS40 statistic. Luck, I think.

Still with Dejuan Blair?? DeJuan Blair is basically a nice back-up. Solid pick, but there's a reason he's never averaged more than 22 minutes a night (and 13 minutes a night in the playoffs). He can't guard anyone- his synergy defensive stats are about as bad as they can possible be. I'm sure the Knicks would trade TD for him in a heartbeat but if SA was looking to trade him for a first round pick do you think they'd have any takers? I really doubt it. There are players worth still kicking yourself for not taking three years later- DeJuan Blair isn't one of them.

StatsTeacher: How does San Antonio have a 5 deep bench? They throw waves of 6 foot 7 inch scorers at you, they haven’t lost in a month.

Novak loves NY and I think JR does too, we’ll see what happens this summer.

Z: No. But you can try to get one of them (Lin or Nash) to sign for $5 mil and the other to sign for $2 mil. I think that’s the only way to get them both in NY next year (and Novak would have to take some kind of vets minimum if he wants to return, too). Basically, you’d be asking a lot of marketable players to play for peanuts just to be in NY. Could happen, I’d suppose, but the name Coach Jackson would probably have to be thrown in there somewhere…

yeah, i love to see msg turned into a bush league gym. i expect that silliness when i take my kids to a lexington legends single a baseball game with the mustard chasing the hot dog during the 7th inning stretch. i better shut up before i give dolan any more halftime ideas.

If you don’t sign JR nor Novak, can you use that combined $ (5 mil?) and give it all to Nash so you can also give Lin the MLE?
