I have to agree wit this. TD has not only been terrible on offense and defense, he's also a horrible passer. He misses people when there open and tries to hit people when they're not, and often he simply passes the ball to an opponent.
He shoots like he has a 40 percent success rate from 3, but he's a 20 percent shooter.
and his usage is ridiculous. At some point, D'Antoni will need to pull the plug. I understand why he hasn't, TD is young and the Knicks had high hopes that he would be a solid guy, but the time is coming where they need to give him a break. He needs to get healthy and he needs to get some games against D league folks to build confidence.

True but no other guard on this team has shown the ability to penetrate the defense without jacking up runners from 3 feet that fall 2 feet short. I don’t think Lin has enough to stick in this league but he cannot be worse than Douglas is right now. I’m a fan of DWTDD but he is the single greatest reason that this team is off to such a bad start – both because of the absence of ability (inability to play PG) and inability to stop shooting and missing.

Yeah, exactly. It is not that Lin is awesome, but it is also not like he has not shown he could hack it as a back-up point guard for an NBA team (like he did just last season for Golden State). And a serviceable back-up point guard is a heck of a lot better than what Bibby and Toney and Shump (as a point guard) give the Knicks.

We can blame Carmelo all we want (and he is definitely at least part of the problem, especially recently), but the reason this team sucks right now is because OUR GUARDS ARE HORRIBLE. We have 4 guards that play a total of 120 minutes per game (when they're not injured) - Douglas, Fields, Bibby, and Walker. Their COMBINED PER is only a little bit better than Lebron James by himself (TD+LF+MB+BW = 37, LBJ = 33). You could have Bill Russell, Karl Malone, and Bernard King playing the 3, 4, and 5 and this team would still suck.

The worst offender by far is Douglas. I'm sure he has a shoulder problem but if your shoulder problem is bad enough to make you WITHOUT A DOUBT the worst player in the NBA, I think you should sit down. The worst thing is that PER overrates volume scorers like Douglas and he STILL SUCKS.

This is what the D-League should be for. If Douglas is hurt, make him inactive until he is better. If he's well enough to play, send him to Erie to play PG full-time and recover his confidence. It's not like he's earned the right to stay with the big club no matter what - at best he's the 6th or 7th man on this team. It wouldn't exactly be like sending Jeter to Triple-A.

This, from the guy who consistently refers to himself as the team's leader:

Anthony, who rested his ailments the past two games, including Friday’s showdown with the Heat, was not in the locker room after the Houston loss. He was not on the bench for either game because he was getting treatment, but should be back at practice today and play tomorrow.

Anthony never has appeared to be a big fan of D’Antoni’s speedball offense, which he has mockingly referred to as “D’Antoni’s quote unquote system.’’ After last season, Anthony seemed ambivalent compared to Stoudemire when asked if he wanted D’Antoni back.

Toney Douglas' play this season has been like a meal at the Olive Garden: it sucks, but you get a lot of it. Lots of minutes for TD and oh so many shot attempts.

Toney Douglas ranks third on the team in FGA. Iman Shumpert is fourth. If that continues, this will continue to be a very bad offense. D'Antoni has to figure out ways to get more shots to the more efficient players. Toney is hoisting up 16.5 FGA per 36 minutes; that is incredibly dumb basketball. If your shot is not falling, STOP CHUCKING. The guy should be glued to the end of the bench. Jeremy Lin may not be great but I'm pretty sure he could do better than a -.065 WS%.

We've actually become pretty good on defense, even though only 4 of our players are even average defenders (Chandler, Jeffries, Shumpert, and Melo). Melo gets the most attention from this board, but if Amar'e started making an effort on defense and started hitting his jumper consistently, like he has the past few years, and we get a starting caliber point guard instead of 2 of the worst players in the NBA in Mike Bibby and Douglas, we'd have a chance against a team like Chicago that has serious issues generating offense outside of Rose. The Knicks mostly need things other teams take for granted, like NBA caliber guards and bench players.

I saw this too and wanted to cry. I agree that Shump can't play the point, but why can't we just give Lin a shot? His WS48 is .215. He's averaging 10.3 assists per 36. I know these minutes were all in garbage time against backups but even if you cut these #'s in half, they're WAYYY better than what Douglas is doing.
