ruruland: He put 20/10 on them in May with just 13 shots and with a bandage on his arm.

Let’s do another friendly wager. Amar’e finishes with a ts% above .600 and a usage over 24.

I'm pretty optimistic about Amare and still don't think this will happen. I think reasonable projections are 18 points per 36, TS 57. If he can do that in however many minutes he plays, we will be pretty tough. If he can even manage a TRR of 12 I think we will be in even better shape.

Re Miami- they are definitely vulnerable against post players- the only guys who are actually passable post defenders are Lebron and Joel Anthony. And Spoelstra seems to like to play Bron in rover type defensive roles, so it'd likely be Bosh, Haslem, or Anthony trying to guard Amare in the post. It's early yet but from what little I've seen from Amare, I like that matchup.

The hawks have 20 points at half-time against Chicago.

think they can defend?

Also, here is the proof of what I was talking about in regards to their perimeter shooting: http://www.hoopdata.com/teamgl.aspx?team=CHI&sort=lefg

You can see it was their best outside shooting game of the year.

What's interesting is that it was also one of the lowest paint attempt games of the year:

flossy: Yeah as but JK47 mentioned, it’s now been 72 games with the Knicks and JR has juuuust managed to stay north of .500 TS% on a usage rate in the mid-20s. That number would embarrass even notorious chuck artists like Al Harrington and Nate Robinson. He does contribute in other areas, which I suppose is why Knicks fans only sometimes want to strangle him with their bare hands.

He's a great off-ball player. We haven't seen much of that with the Knicks because of pg play and Woodson's desire for him to make plays, whic he simply isn't up to on a consistent basis.

With Prigioni 43/40% 20.3 pts per 36 minutes

No prigioni: 39/31% 16.8 pts

He's still very good in spot-ups.

Great lines from the new Point Forward at SI:

"Tyson Chandler has become one of the league’s most genuinely helpful offensive players through threat construction. He scores just 12.4 points per game, but opposing defenders are constantly weary of the possibility that he might corral a lob and thoroughly embarrass their backline defense. As such, every step he takes is one that has to be defended. Every open avenue to the rim must be blocked off. Every moment in which he lingers around the rim must be attended to. Chandler makes opponents wary and weary, despite the fact that he likely has fewer touches than any other prominent member of the Knicks’ rotation."

and:

"Consider this: The Knicks’ offense is about 11 points better per 100 possessions with Chandler on the floor this season, largely due to how well he works out of New York’s primary pick-and-roll actions. But what might he accomplish — and how absurd might that on/off margin grow to become — if his game were a bit more diverse? What kind of impact could a player create if he could combine Chandler’s specific potency with a more varied means of offensive distribution? We’ll only know when Davis shows us, and in doing so capitalizes on a potential that prior to this point was totally nonexistent."

The article is mostly about Anthony Davis, but great stuff regarding Chandler. I especially liked the video on baseline cuts from Davis on the weakside of the high PNR. Presumably that is what Brewer and his off-ball ability was supposed to give us, but Brewer looks puzzlingly ground-bound this year. Maybe Shump takes that spot, and can be a threat from 3 and also for a baseline cut/dunk?
