Yeah, it’s good to have the Knicks playing so well. They are pretty fun to watch in the last three quarters too….

Rondo is a great player and the idea the Celtics are better without him is pretty insane. Not sure why one 4-0 stretch matters when we have watched him lead two teams to the finals and one to the championship. The guy was a flat out stud. I hope he comes back from this strong next year after the Celtics gut their team.

Garnett to the Clippers is interesting. I guess they move DeAndre to the bench? Or bring KG off it? Just having a frontcourt guy who can make free throws would be a big help. Not that they need it…..

jon abbey: Amar’e is just putting up insane numbers, 7th in the whole league in WS/48 (minimum 200 minutes played). Durant, LeBron, Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler, Tiago Splitter (!), Tony Parker, and then Amar’e. Melo is 16th, so all three of our main frontcourt guys are in the top 16 in the league overall, pretty remarkable. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2013_advanced.html

What I look forward to the most now when the Knicks play is to see if Amare can continue this amazing run he is on, it's just a joy to behold. Almost feel like I could fast forward the first 8 minutes of the game to when he makes his first appearance.

Just as we had hoped, Ray Felton is shooting the ball a lot less now that Stat has returned. Felton has taken a very sensible 9.2 FGA per game since his return and has even scored efficiently, putting up a .576 TS% with 17.2 USG% in that span. He has also shot .429 from 3PT and has 38 assists against 11 turnovers.

Obviously the efficiency is a mirage, but the 9.2 FGA is a very encouraging number.

ruruland: Nice P+T piece, covered the basics we’ve talked about for weeks. Trying to cover the Amare/Chandler double pick and roll is like trying to defend an in-prime fly/ post route combination to Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, and with Melo on the other side of the field as, say, Michael Irvin with his defender well off the LOS. (Irvin couldn’t be tackled 1-1) The only question becomes, does your quarterback ( Felton) get blitzed up the middle, which could force an errant pass, or does the defense put 8-9 guys back in coverage? That’s probably we you can only run it a few times when they’re in there together, but Chandler high screen and role, clearing out the middle with Amare flashing or curling to elbow has a similar effect ( that was the unstoppable play I brought up prior to Amares return, the kind he was highly successfull with far inferior dive threats). The Knicks offense may now be the most potent and versatile half court attack in the league. The Knicks may very well have the two best rollers in the league, at the same time having two of the best post players, and some of the best surrounding 3 point shooting. Moreover, when Smith, Felton and Melo are in the game, you have three bonafide screen and role passers/scorers/penetrators. That action has so far opened up wide lanes for Smith and Felton to penetrate and dish for easy dunks with two premier finishers occupying each side of the basket and one defender forces to leave his man.

It's a little intoxicating
