Oddly enough I'd rather the seven spot. We get past Miami or Chicago, we'd have a relatively easier series vs Indiana (I have no doubt the Pacers will dispatch the Magic). Instead of, getting the easy series first round then having to battle every round afterward.

also I am very dubious that Lin would actually be ready to play and contribute positively in the second round of the playoffs, even if we made it. it's not like coming back after missing time in baseball and it's not like he has experience with the level of intensity in the NBA playoffs before.

Maybe I’m just a rescued puppy that freaks every time there’s a loud noise, but I really think that if this team can somehow make it out of the first round and get Lin back, they could win the whole thing this year.

Sigh. The Magic lost big. Anyone else feeling that the loss in Cleveland last Friday is going to haunt this franchise for a long time? Maybe I'm just a rescued puppy that freaks every time there's a loud noise, but I really think that if this team can somehow make it out of the first round and get Lin back, they could win the whole thing this year. But now I'm just kinda expecting them to play five close games against the Heat before bowing out. And then they won't be able to replace JR or Novak next year and won't be nearly as good as they could have been this year. And then, like, Stat will miss the next season after that or something. And then, either they'll lose Lin as a FA or something or everyone will be together before Chandler gets suspended during the playoffs etc etc etc.

Of course, they could still upset Miami. Which would be awesome (esp. since they could then work Lin back in against Indiana). But I have the bad-feeling-about-this-itis.

All I can say is that I'm really a happy Knick fan right now. This is the kind of team I can be proud of. When one guy doesn't play others step up. They are getting clutch victories and playing defense (when Tyson is there). I feel really confident going into the playoffs. I envision a Giant-esque run. Maybe I'll feel different after the Miami series but right now I'm just taking all this in and enjoying it. We're 4 over .500 and clearly better than our record. We're as good as anyone in the conference except perhaps two teams and we haven't embarrassed ourselves against them either. Now, we have a chance to beat the Heat. How sweet would that be?I can't imagine anything better in sports than NYK sending the big three to the golf course.

So, as I said in the last thread, the narrative has changed. NYK is a gritty, overachieving, underdog. A team New York can fall in love with.
