Frank: Anyone think McGrady is big enough to play backup 4? If he did, other than LBJ he would probably be the best passing 4 in the league. I’m not opposed at all to signing him up. He’ll make zero difference in a playoff setting (can you imagine him trying to keep up with the thoroughbreds on Miami or OKC?) but having more guys who are versatile can’t hurt. And I think at this point in his career, he won’t demand too many minutes. Just wants to stay in the league. why not get josh howard then he's better at the 3 n 4

Brian Cronin: Ha! True. Hey, I’m not arguing that the guy play 25 minutes or anything like that, just that he could be a pretty impressive change-of-pace guy at the #2 spot, especially as a back-up. He’s still a guy that other teams react to when he is on the court. That, in and of itself, carries some value. Enough to give the guy the vet minimum.Unless, of course, we don’t think he’ll accept earning playing time. If he is going to be a jerk (which he was at times last year for Atlanta) then eff ‘em. He’s not worth the hassle.

The thing is, right now the roster seems very well balanced in terms of PT/rotation. If T-Mac goes into primadonna mode, that could upset things. Of course, at the vet's minimum, we could just cut him. I guess I'm ambivalent; he is good insurance in case White flops.

It’s interesting that nobody brought up Ronnie Brewer as one of the most likeable Knicks. He’s basically Landry Fields + Iman Shumpert with a worse shot. I’m certainly looking forward to him being in a Knicks jersey.

Ha! True. Hey, I’m not arguing that the guy play 25 minutes or anything like that, just that he could be a pretty impressive change-of-pace guy at the #2 spot, especially as a back-up. He’s still a guy that other teams react to when he is on the court. That, in and of itself, carries some value. Enough to give the guy the vet minimum.

Unless, of course, we don’t think he’ll accept earning playing time. If he is going to be a jerk (which he was at times last year for Atlanta) then eff ‘em. He’s not worth the hassle.

T-Mac shot 45% from three last year. He only took 33, so that number is likely to drop. You have to like your chances of T-Mac wide open for three, though.

Brian Cronin: Yeah, I just don’t see how you’d play T-Mac at the 4. If you want to go small, Melo will be the 4, right? T-Mac can play the two and three, though, so he’d be a really useful piece (if he was okay with being a part-time player, of course).

McGrady or Martin would be a great get. People think Mac can't shoot. 34 percent from 3 but like all players shoots spot ups better, always been predominatelty self shot creator though.. Guy is a quality shooter, quality playmaker and passable defensively with his length. Kidd,Smith, TMac,Melo,Amare would be another devastating lineup among a ton of quality permutations on a legitimately 12 deep squad. Reminds me of some of those high quality veteran laden Blazers teams.
