    1. Maaaaaan listen…
I am rooting so hard for the C’s to eliminate Milwaukee. As a basketball fan- I just wanna see a 7 game series between Boston and Miami. They match up really well. As a Knicks fan, it would pain me to see those 2 teams in the ECF- but that would be one fun series to watch. The defense..the chess moves..the Tatum v Butler..young Horford(Bam) v Old Horford..what a matchup!

    2. “Having Dillon Brooks on your basketball team is like having a cocaine addicted duck with long wings and cool sunglasses on your team.” No lies detected.

    3. Miami is tough, but you can argue that Boston/Milwaukee is the NBA finals. IMO the Bucks are the better team, but not without Middleton. They don’t have a consistent 2nd option. Giannis is incredible, but he can’t be a Greek God every night. He’ll have to be one more time to advance.

Out west I’m not sure how much of what’s going on is Dallas’s improved defense and how much is the Suns not playing well, but if CP3 is going to play like this and Mikal Bridges can’t step up to pick up the slack, there’s no reason Dallas can’t beat them again even if the Suns have the better team.

The Warriors are still very good, but they are older, a step slower, less hungry, and less consistent than the old Warriors. I’m not sure they can beat whoever comes out of the East.

    4. Agreed with all of that, STAT.

What Milwaukee has been doing sans Middleton is really quite amazing.

    5. Lopez and Allan a negative 22 and 29 respectively.

I appreciate Dillon’s teammates coming to his defense and I think he can be a useful player in a smaller role but the way they centered their offense on him almost as a pure plug in to Ja’s role was puzzling.

    6. I agree on Milwaukee. If Middleton were healthy..they probably beat Boston in 5 if Giannis is still playing like he’s playing now. But I still think Boston v Miami would be a fun series to watch for the nuance and coaching alone. A healthy Milwaukee vs a healthy Philly(including Harden actually playing hard) would have been fun too.

    7. the warriors have played like a vaudeville act so far, but i think they have a potential gear that would be tougher on any of the 3 east teams than current consensus. but i also think gp2 returning for them is quite important for this scenario.

    8. Ingmarrrr:
Is there a projection for when / if Middleton is coming back?

He was supposed to play game 6 if they lost game 5, so it’s expected he’ll play in game 7.

    9. As for OKC’s current “process,” what OC has accumulated seems unprecedented. 3-4 first round picks in each of the next five years. And a crap ton (13) of 2nd rounders, too.

If they draft well, they can become awesome. But, they do have to draft well. I wonder how many picks they’ll actually end up making, and how many of those will be premium top 5 picks?

    10. I’m not sure the Warriors still have this extra gear, I think they clearly look older and slower like strat mentioned and facing an elite defense like the Celtics or Heat will accentuate those issues even more. They still have players who can erupt at any moment and any Steph Curry team is always going to be dangerous, but they were very sloppy with turnovers, even last night, both Curry and Draymond kept turning the ball over very uncharacteristically, passes that they would never miss 3 or 4 years ago. There was a fastbreak where Curry tried a bounce pass to Klay on the run and he simply didn’t reach it, for example. Those plays were guaranteed buckets in the past.

    11. Bruno Almeida: they were very sloppy with turnovers, even last night, both Curry and Draymond kept turning the ball over very uncharacteristically, passes that they would never miss 3 or 4 years ago.

As pretty as they play they’ve always been turnover prone. Even in their prime their team turnover rating was always in the 20s. They’re worse now but they’ve always been loose with the ball. Green and Curry have been making bad crosscourt passes for their entire careers.

Also: I see way too many similarities to RJ when watching Dillon Brooks.

    12. oh damn but that was a big thread yesterday…so much hinkie/team building/whatever…

you don’t play to lose, hell, you don’t do anything to lose…okay, maybe a dropped a game or two of nba2k to the kids, generally though – losing a bunch is a clear indication that yuour are doing things wrong…

i get though why some would chose to do so, maybe things work out spectacularly in okc and they enjoy a spurs like run, but, not my cup of tea…i’d be pissed if i was a fan, i’d walk away…like i have with the giants (due to incompetence), like i would have done with the knicks (without you all)…

    13. now, let’s get to something of great import…

      I love Miami.
      I celebrate Miami.
The sunshine in Miami is wonderful and the taxes? Outstanding.
One my very dearest friends is from Miami.
I got so drunk in Miami once that I almost had to be hospitalized, thats how much I love Miami
If my wife had another baby I would name he/she Miami.
But in the fourth quarter of the 21st Century I DONT WANT TO LIVE ANYWHERE FUCKING NEAR MIAMI!

marinas and houseboats…sure, it’ll take some serious ingenuity to figure how to weather proof the community with increasingly hostile weather, but yeah, orlando will be even more beautiful than venice…

    14. they were very sloppy with turnovers, even last night, both Curry and Draymond kept turning the ball over very uncharacteristically, passes that they would never miss 3 or 4 years ago. i very much understand the sentiment and the warriors were pretty hard to watch for much of the grizz series. but i don’t think the la fitness style turnovers are as big a departure from splash lore as some are making them out to be. there was always a great deal of ruin in dub nation. that klay turnover in particular is not such an outlier. curry overthrows those fast break rock skips on the reg and he just skidded that one a bit. remember the game ending one in game 2 of the 14-15 finals? here he is overthreading to dray in the 16-17 wc finals.

in general if you showed an alien a reel of just curry and dray turnovers from 2014 on they would demand to know which youtube league they played in. i am not saying they don’t look bad in many ways. and i am fully on board w/the “they are playing way too cute all the time” strategy dissent. but i think dray and curry are still mostly themselves and if available they have a damn good group around them in pool, gp2, lesser-klay and wiggins.

not sure if ppl appreciate how little their key pieces have played together.
      dray,steph,gp2: 140min: (+33/100) ; 34m in playoffs +35/100
      dray,steph,poole,klay: 7min total; 85m in playoffs +9/100

obv they might not make the finals and gp2 might not come back anyway, but i think the upside is there. as great as the east big3 are on d, memphis is almost uniquely good at shutting the back door that the warriors kept obstinately trying to walk thru.

    15. i started lazily gardening in around 2013…first was cleaning out the existing stuff in the flower bed (about 33′ x 18″ of space), then was adding in soil…from my time living in monterey and driving through salinas i came to understand just what good soil looks like…the one plant I kept was a red rose bush…it was a bit wild then, I’ve allowed it to get a bunch bigger since, I made like an alcove to sit in…

first few years, so much stuff died, seriously…it just took a while to figure out how to deal with the extreme sun and the arid nature of the area…had some luck with a potted lemon tree and some other tree (I don’t even know the name), it truly was luck, had no idea what I was doing…over time though started figuring things out, kept adding soil, a few things stuck (vines mostly), added more plants and stuff…

at one point a redwood showed up, this was years ago and the flower bed wasn’t so full…took me about a year or so to figure out what it was…I kept looking at the immediate surrounding area but didn’t find a match for the tree…

it wasn’t until I was spending one evening at the redlands bowl and noticed an outgrowth on the side of one of the redwood trees there – it looked exactly like the thing in my garden…

i finally had it cut down when it was around five, very sad, birds loved the tree, provided great shade for the house, it was already like thirty feet tall though, who would’ve guessed redwoods grew so fast…

fast forward some years and no time at work, the gardening thing is going good, working on the whole garden “synergy” thing…added a peach tree and cherry tree to planters – learning what I can about pollination, finally found a hummingbird feeder that “works”, passing out primo finch food at several convenient locations (all the fruit trees), got a noisy pump water feature running now (got to get as quieter pump soon), but, super excited to add a rocking bamboo thing to the garden, I love that 13 to 15 second bamboo on bamboo noise…

    16. i always wondered what life might be like without the time and energy invested in to work, yeah man, gardening, bird watching, cleaning the house, doctors’ appointments, family, sleeping/eating right, staying active…such is life…i kind of feel like i’m getting younger…

hope all is well for everyone :)

    17. Those are good points Nicos and ptmilo, I guess it’s been so long since they’ve played together that I forgot about it.

I just think overall the 3 remaining east teams look stronger, specially with CP3 in this weird slump he’s had since game 2.

    18. He was supposed to play game 6 if they lost game 5, so it’s expected he’ll play in game 7.

I don’t think that he has any real shot at playing Game 7. Maybe if they make the next round he’ll eventually get into a game, but I think tomorrow is way too soon for him.

    19. sooooooo, how’s everybody getting their sports fix today?

there’s an interesting fight later on espn (mma fight night), other than that, probably just play a little nba 2k…that counts, right…

    20. Geo – I was going for a Jay Pharoah doing Stephen A on SNL homage with that but I am not sure I quite nailed it.

I spoke to my friend from Miami and he confirmed that the fact Miami is a floodplain is all his father talks about. So ideal better about it now.

I feel like Curry isn’t the Curry of old but they are a very good team.

    21. geo:

      Let’s go Mets!

    22. “Frank Ntilikina is the most underrated defender in the NBA”

      Not on this site…

    23. He still can’t dribble or shoot a basketball. Fuck his couch.
