    1. A bit from the last thread…

Early Bird: I don’t know if I buy their assessment of Randle, he looked like a different player last year than he did 2 seasons ago. Metrics can’t pick up on that. Same goes for Kemba. We know Kemba had a devastating injury, but the algorithm doesn’t know it and likely has a rosy view of Kemba because of it.

That’s exactly my point. I think stats are missing some “outside input” like injury predictability and stuff like that, as you mentioned. But back to Julius, i know i might be wrong but i’ve been comparing him to Jimmy and the numbers are not so far apart. I think DPM would’ve done the same with Jimmy after his breakout season, in 2014-15 when he was 25yo. Julius had a “Fiz encounter” that delayed his breakout to the 26yo season, but the rest of the career looks very similar, the differences being Jimmy’s numbers are a little better and one was good on defense and improved the offense (Jimmy), and the other was the other way around. I have a lot of faith “good Julius” is here to stay. And frankly, we deserve it, as the Knicks had a lot of things working out bad in the last 20 years. It’s time for the basketball Gods to be on our side. ;)

    2. And another one…

Hubert: Tough call for me. Middleton is a perfect #2. Randle is a suboptimal #1. I’m not sure Randle could adjust his game to play off someone as well as Middleton did. But Middleton most likely could not handle the type of load Randle did last year.

I think this is fair, and i don’t know if we can win with Julius. But even if this is like the Lowry-DeRozan Raptors, i think it’s a necessary step in the way to be a championship contender. When the time to strike comes, Leon will know better and if Julius is not suited to be #2, and can’t get us a championship being #1, he’s the one that we’ll use to make the trade for the last piece.

    3. Julius is still evolving. I think his floor is borderline all-star and ceiling is top-10 player, maybe top-5 if the 3pt shooting is for real. He is a brick shithouse with plenty of fast-twitch capability who seems 100% focused on improving any flaws in his game. Can he improve them or is he a finished product at last year’s level with a bit of regression in the 3pt% but uptick in 2pt%? I wouldn’t bet against him, the passion, focus and work ethic are there, the synergy with a nut-job like Thibs is there, the trust from his teammates seems to be there. I think he’s gonna prove doubters wrong, just like he did this year.

    4. Julius’s OReb% and 2pt% were both significantly down, and his percentage of assisted FGs was also way down, obviously because he was on the ball so much more. That also accounts for his AST% taking such a huge jump. Even with the inflated 3pt% and 3PAr, his overall TS% was down from his best years.

So one big question is whether the addition of Fournier and Kemba as on-ball players, a full year of DRose, and further offensive development from RJ lead to more efficient off-ball opportuniies that will get his TS% up to the .600 range where he was before we acquired him. I think there’s a pretty good chance of that happening.

That would be like a 50+% jump…would that mean supermax players would make like $75M AAV? Crazy.

    7. JK47: Zach Wilson seems rather bad

He’s a classic gunslinger type. He could get away with multiple high risk throws in college against the parade of cupcakes on BYU’s schedule. Against NFL DBs? Not so much. At least two of his picks today were the result of his making a low percentage throw when there were easier, albeit shorter, gains available.

Of course, it’s waaaay too early to tag him as a bust. The task of the Jets coaches is to improve his overall decision making without completely killing his flair for the spectacular, off schedule play. It was that latter ability that got him drafted so high but it could also be the thing that derails his NFL career unless it’s curtailed to some degree,

    8. It’s definitely too early to call Zach a bust but on at least one of those picks I couldn’t tell who he was trying to throw to

    9. He made two really bad decisions, had one ball go through the hands of his receiver and then there was the one you’re talking about where I think he was just completely rattled and his mechanics fell apart. Terrible game from the kid.

This is what I reported before. A new TV contract is likely to make the salary cap jump 50% or so

    11. ***Should the NBA sign a new TV deal worth $75 billion, early projections indicate that a 2025 salary cap number of $171 million is possible***

Just in time for Frank’s development to peak and to give him a $600,000,000 4 year deal to pry him from the Mavs.

    12. I know very little about football these days but I find it hilarious that the Ravens can pick three guys off the scrap heap to play running back and they can look like all stars. .
