Frank Ntilikina. That’s it. That’s the Knickerblogger comment.
No need to belabor the point, Alan. A simple “Frank” would have sufficed.
Spot on.
This is the perfect situation for him. He has to be in a lineup with enough scoring that you can put a defensive specialist on the court and gain more on defense than you lose on offense. You also don’t want to force him into the PG spot like the Knicks did because he’s not a PG. Both are satisfied in Dallas.
He’s basically a younger developing version of Bullock but with more potential on the offensive end because he can make plays and has improved his handle over time. If he can’t put it together this year and show that last year’s 3p% and his overall corner 3p% are not total flukes, then it will be time to go back to Europe. He has to stay healthy or it’s over.
I hope these rumors are true because imo it’s a win win. Dallas needs switchable defense at the guard/wing position and Frank needs a team like Dallas.
I’m so happy for you, Strat. And so sorry for Jowles, who was thisclose to never having to hear about Frank ever again.
I’m happy for Frank who has always seemed like a really good kid and who I think flashed just enough with the improved 3-pointer last year that he deserves one last look at this level. The fact that despite the (probably anomalously) hot shooting he still managed an OBPM that would have been the worst in the league if he’d had enough minutes to qualify is still a slight problem and by far the most probable outcome is that he’s just never going to hit the baseline level of offensive competence needed for even a defensive specialist. But the fit between the Mavs and the theoretical good version of Frank that lives in our heads does make sense so it’s as good a spot as any for him to take what is almost certainly his last shot.
I like that Mavs went full bizarro-Knicks, because we get to see many what-if scenarios, although signing Kidd to be their coach is borderline spooky.
Rolling Stone releases its new list of the top 500 songs of all time without a single track from JD and the Straight Shot and Alan wants us to talk about Frank. Very suspicious.
I’m happy for Frank, he’s a good kid, i hope he can do well in Dallas. And also happy for Strat, this way you only need to follow one team to keep tracking your 2 favorite ex-Knicks. ;)
Last year the narrative was Thibs is the perfect coach for him; today it is Dallas is the perfect situation for him. Having Jason Kidd as your coach can never be a perfect situation.
Remember when Dallas said their predraft infatuation with Frank was just a smokescreen to get us to take him? That was cute. And obviously bullshit if they are interested in him now.
Weird how Frank and DS Jr have crossed so many paths.
I wish Frank the best. I spent a lot of time on Ntilikina Island before drowning. Memories never die.
I hate everything
Isn’t there some equivalent to the Razzie awards about music? I think JD could be in the HoF of that particular award! LOL
My failed pet cause for the list was Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime,” dammit.
Knicks South.
That’s it.
That’s the comment.
Henceforth, September 14 shall be known as national Strat day.
Excellent situation for Frank. The Knicks failed to put together a team with enough firepower to ever effectively field Frank. Not sure if Frank makes it, I think it’ll take a few years at least.
I’m interested to see how patient they are.
Just wait till The Mavs pick up Kevin Knox next year.
LOL
Frank would have fit in great on the 1998 Bulls because he never would gotten on the floor
I love reading that rolling stones top 500. Every time I see a song that seems too high I read the little snippet underneath and they totally sell me.
Two notable exceptions, though: Robyn with the 20th best song of all time and Lorde at 30 both seem comically high to me.
I have loved Robyn forever and that song is the apotheosis of the genre, so I have absolutely no problem with that ranking. I put it on randomly all the time.
Its so arbitrary, I don’t know how the hell you make a list like that, but definitely a great way to generate views.
*sigh*
I, too, have been eagerly looking forward to the day when the phrase, “We need to have a frank discussion” means the same thing here as it does in the rest of the English speaking world.
Guess that day won’t be arriving anytime soon.
*sigh*
hey is anyone else watching this Wu-Tang series that is on hulu? You should be. The staten island ferry episode that came out today is really good.
I’m watching the Wu-Tang series, just started watching again so I’ve only seen the first episode of season 2. I’ll probably binge the available ones sometime this week.
They switched out Joey Bada$$ (playing INS) for another actor this season and as a fan of Joey I’m a little curious what happened there. Maybe just schedule conflicts, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason given.
Now if the Mavs could just figure out a way to trade for Mikal Bridges my work would be done.
That Rolling Stones top 500 list is so bad I’m going to forward it to the CIA for when they start trying to overthrow the Taliban. They should just play a lot of those songs and the Taliban will retreat to Pakistan.
Rolling Stone releases its new list of the top 500 songs of all time
i don’t know, that’s like a very very subjective list…kind of like best 500 books, best 500 paintings, best places to live – whatever – fuck you, you can’t tell me what i like :P
…life’s for living
Yeah, that’s our philosophy
that’s an absolutely brilliant pop tune – i wonder what kind of advertisement re-use it’s gotten over time…those few notes stay stuck forever….no doubt it helped lead the fm revolution…
Well I am here for an itemized list of songs from that list that strat thinks are terrible. Do not leave us hanging.
And let me be clear: I don’t think the list is any good. But I suspect our grounds are very, very different. We might agree that Lorde being anywhere on the list, much less 30th, is a farce. But what of the rest?
man, fight the power wasn’t even the best rap song that year – me so horny was about a million times better…
“Rolling Stone releases its new list of the top 500 songs of all time without a single track from JD and the Straight Shot ” – Drop mic
That might have “broken the internet” as they say
Have mercy – can we just move on from Frank?
He was terrible and a nonfactor for the Knicks, terrible and a nonfactor for team France, and he will be terrible and a nonfactor for Dallas too
I just skimmed the Rolling Stones list and it strikes me that they’re choosing some songs at the top mostly for their influence on today’s music. Smells Like Teen Spirit & Nirvana has made a bit of a comeback, influencing emo-rappers (Denzel Curry, Juice WRLD, xxxTentacion) Missy Elliot is another one who was a precursor to Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion. Those songs deserve to be highly ranked anyways, but I’m sure the rankings fluctuate significantly over the years.
The Straight Shot song that Rolling Stone snubbed was the one they sang about Strat getting his wish…
“An all-world player in the arena
And a shooter better than that Spur from Argentina
And the tallest dude that you’ve ever seen-a
Were the only things standing in between a
Championship and Frank Ntilikina.”
-J.D. & The Straight Shot’s “Franks For The Memories” (#501)
He wasn’t great for team France, but he wasn’t a non-factor either. The coach played him the entire fourth quarter because the team was doing better on the floor with him than without him.
Niiiiice…
Donnie ftw as usual….
The French coach played him the entire 4th quarter of the Last Game they played in the Olympics. For all the other quarters of all the other games he was a Non Factor.
Frank is a lot like a cockroaches are, he will survive no matter what
Guess who’s back? Back again. Frankie’s back. Tell a friend!
The “Luka is holding Frank back” posts are gonna be great.
So what is the deal with Cuban assembling a team of Knicks exiles?
if only Melo could end up there, too.
Re: Bob Dylan covers, was this one posted? Three iconic female voices from the ’60s. Love the outfits!
It’s either guys we had and didn’t want or guys we want and didn’t have…
come to think of it, when Melo was here we collected a fair amount of ex-Mavs: Chandler, Kidd, Novak, Larkin. Weird.
btw I was surprised that there wasn’t more love for PP&M’s version of Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright, as it was that cover that helped propel Dylan to stardom.
It’s easy to say “I’m happy for Frank” but feel bad for him, really. The Mavs, who seem fascinated with former Knicks, will tire of him rapidly and he’ll languish on the bench until they cut him. He needed to hook up with a Euro team and work on an offensive game. This will not earn him the PT he needs.
As for music, I don’t really know anything published this millennium so I’ll refrain from making statements that are backed by a total lack of knowledge.
So someone at that mag is either f***ing Lorde or trying real hard to f*** Lorde, right?
The Mavs and the Knicks are probably both going to be better this year than last year (although Kidd as coach makes me worry). Frank seems to have gotten a contract that brings him to training camp, not a commitment the season and will have to play his way onto the roster. I don’t know if he’ll make it. Kidd historically is a good offensive coach but not a good defensive coach. He might need all the defensive help he can get. So I can see Frank having a role, but it’s not a given.
Lorde absolutely dominated on Hot Ones so I won’t begrudge her spot on the top 500.
What are the Mavs waiting for? Damyean Dotson is a free-agent! LOL
