      Dwayne Casey: His peers vote him coach of the year. He gets fired within a few days.

      That is some crazy shit.

      I would like not to see Warriors vs. Cavs Part IV in the finals. Something different for a change would be fresh and more exciting to watch. Unfortunately, I’m afraid it’s lining up for The Lebrons vs. The Hampton 5’s again.

    2. Farfa

      If Boston wins game 1, it’s a series. Boston has the guys to defend LeBron and Love. Let’s see what happens.

      Buzzed for the lottery on Tuesday. Clearly we’ll end up 10th but a bit of hope is enjoyable. Three more days of imagining Doncic in orange and blue before reality sets in

      Givony is pretty convinced we’ll take Sexton, interestingly…

    4. ess-dog

      Trying to get positive about Sexton, just in case. Maybe he’s got a little Westbrook in him? But it’s already a pretty crowded backcourt.

      He does seem like a Fiz guy, though, as does Knox. Seems like Carter has moved up out of range. Bummer.

      It’s funny how everyone was/is upset about snek KD “stacking” an already-great team and they’re still 1.5 pt underdogs on the road against Houston. Turns out you need a lot of talent (or LeBron) to win a championship.

      @5

      Unlike Trey Burke sexton wasn’t good in college. He plays differently too. There’s almost no way we pick him, it’d be mind bogglingly bad given our current guard situation and his lack of production

    7. JK47

      Colin Sexton’s stats look like shit, and his scouting report looks like shit.

      We avoided the cut of Dolan’s Razor by hiring somebody not named Mark Jackson, so let’s try to go 2 for 2 here and not draft a guy that has “bust” written all over him.

    8. english_knick

      Silky – isn’t ‘there’s almost no way we do x, it’d be mindbogglingly bad’ sort of the standard intro to a Dolan’s razor case study…?

    9. Bruno Almeida

      Sexton’s scoring and efficiency numbers are pretty similar to Burke’s sophomore year, both not super impressive, but Burke was better 3 pt shooter while Sexton got to the free throw line a lot more. Burke was a much more advanced passer, even though his team was obviously also a lot better than Sexton’s, while Sexton has much better size.

      I don’t know, I just don’t feel Sexton as a prospect, I don’t think his playstyle helps the other pieces in the team, mainly Porzingis and THJ. I would rather pick both Bridges before him or whoever drops from the big guys.

    10. Z-man

      I’m not big on Sexton (as opposed to a ton of sex) but don’t see him as a bust, just not a star and not what we need given Trey Burke and his contract. I’d rather try to steal a sleeper PG in round 2, maybe Graham, Carter, or Duval.

    11. JK47

      Sexton has my least favorite kind of scouting report: shot selection sucks, and plays like a two-guard despite having the size of a one. He’s a “streaky” shooter (read: bad shooter) and tries to do too much, turns the ball over a lot. Good athlete doe!

    12. Bruno Almeida

      If we were picking like 12th and Sexton was available I wouldn’t be against it, especially for his ability to get to the line (10.2 FTA per 40, 7th overall in the NCAA in total attempts), but at the 9th there’s more intriguing players with less bust potential for me and who also are a better fit for our current and near future situation.

    13. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

      @9

      Very true, but I still believe in the relative competence of this FO and their ability to be mediocre as opposed to the usual flaming dumpster fire that is the Knicks FO. Maybe that confidence is misplaced though.

    14. The Glass Half Rebuilt

      I don’t see any situation where the Knicks draft Collin Sexton over any of the small forwards just because he’s not a superior prospect to anybody. I’d rate him below Miles Bridges, Chandler Hutchison, Mikal Bridges, and Kevin Knox. The Knicks have a need at small forward and the best players at where we are projected to pick are mostly small forwards.

    15. Ben R

      I wouldn’t put Knox, who I think is wildly overrated, or Hutchinson, who is rightfully a late first type talent, over Sexton but either Bridges or Zaire Smith if we want a guard seem like much better choices.

      I think Knox is more of a terrible Knicksy choice but Sexton would be pretty close to a worst case at this point.

    16. ess-dog

      I think either Bridges is more likely, though probably Miles because he’s over a year younger than Mikal. I’m sure we’ll end up with Doncic, though, and none of this will matter…

    17. hoolahoop

      The Knicks have a need at small forward and the best players at where we are projected to pick are mostly small forwards.

      Again, paraphrasing Wally Szczerbiak, “the knicks have a need at starting PG. Burke is the best of the three, but should be coming off the bench. And Mudiay and Frank can’t shoot and you got to be able to shoot in this league. “(That part I agree with).
      Then he goes on to rave about Sexton being NBA ready to go.

      I see Sexton as being selfish, out of control. and looks a little small. Yeah, he gets to the hole, but he’s got baggage.

    18. Bruno Almeida

      @20

      That one game where Alabama finished with 3 players will probably be the reason for him getting a couple of millions more.

    19. DRed

      Yeah, Sexton almost beating a whole damn team by himself was one of the more impressive basketball things I’ve ever seen.

      His stats aren’t as terrible as some of you are making them out to be. He’s a reasonable prospect. I wouldn’t take him at 9, but he doesn’t scream bust either.

    20. Bruno Almeida

      @24

      Like I said, I would pick him with the 12th or even 9th in a weaker year, but I really don’t think he’s either the best prospect or best fit that will be available at 9. Him going top 10 would for sure be a reach.

    21. kevin5318

      I wouldn’t be against Sexton if we were picking like 15th and didn’t have 5 PG’s already.

      At 8 we could still be looking at a Bamba, Mikal, Miles or Trae. Not picking Sexton over those guys.

    22. The Glass Half Rebuilt

      I hope Michael Porter Jr gets the Dennis Smith Jr treatment and slides all the way to 9 because of injury concerns. Just draft him and give him a redshirt year to work on his body while we tank and get RJ Barrett or Cam Reddish. We would revolutionize basketball with our 6’8”, 6’11”, and 7’3” pace and space front court.

    23. Bruno Almeida

      Porter Jr. is a no-brainer for me if ever drops that much, of course if there’s evidence showing his injury is not a career issue.

      It’s the 9th pick, the odds of finding a great player are slim and even the odds of finding an eventual starter are somewhat low. If he drops to 9th it becomes even easier because it means all of Young, Carter Jr., Bamba and Bridges went before him and the next group of prospects is either a lot less exciting or would be a big reach at 9th. I would honestly be ecstatic if he’s healthy and drops to us.

    24. Knick fan not in NJ at this time

      Given Philadelphia’so success drafting Embiid, someone will go for Porter early.

    25. The Glass Half Rebuilt

      Michael Porter Jr could also refuse to workout for teams and not give them access to his medical information like Dennis Smith Jr did to avoid the triangle offense. Not just that, but there’s a lot of top shelf talent in this draft with Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Young, Carter Jr, and Bamba that teams won’t need to convince themselves one way or another on MPJr. Then you have the “superstar role player” types in Jaren Jackson Jr and Mikal Bridges that could go ahead of Porter Jr. so you never know what could happen.

      If MPJr falls out of the top five teams and ends up in the Sacto, Chicago, Cleveland, and New York range, it would be smart for him to try to force his way to New York. He’d have Trey Burke and Frank Ntilikina feeding him the ball, KP is on the back end to cover his mistakes defensively, and Fizdale is probably a more stable coaching situation than what’s going on in Sacto, Chicago, and Cleveland.

    26. GoldClub

      ESPN mocks him at 8, so you never know at 9. Really highlights how infuriating our inability to tank is. Jets too — I’m psyched about Darnold but man if they had just sat McCown when we were out of contention we’d be sitting pretty with Darnold and 3 second round picks.

    27. GoldClub

      Also, that the drafts are set up this way is moronic — how nice would it be for tanking to not be part of the vernacular
