Will be an interesting matchup for KP also. Have to figure he’ll see a good amount of LeBron or Tristan Thompson. He had so much trouble against Horford and horford isn’t close to LBJ or Tristan defensively.

    2. DRed

Horford is definitely an excellent defender, but part of the problem in that game was that we didn’t appear to be running an offense. Kristaps just kept trying to force his way by Horford and help off the dribble. He’s got a pretty good handle for someone 7’3″ but that’s not really the way you want to see him scoring.

CLEVELAND — Knicks president Steve Mills said point guard Frank Ntilikina and Willy Hernangomez are keepers. He also dampened speculation about Jeff Hornacek’s immediate future, saying he’s not being judged by a won-loss record, though the Brooklyn victory was a sign the coach was on the right track.

After an 0-3 start that followed an 0-5 preseason, speculation started mounting about Hornacek’s future. Mills said that didn’t come from the Knicks, and it was too early for judgments.

However, Mills fell short of guaranteeing Hornacek as safe for the season, indicating, no matter the record, he still wants to see progress in certain departments regarding defense and cutting down turnovers.

Mills is saying all the right things. It doesn’t mean much of course but it’s the Knicks we’re talking about, every little bit of rational thinking is welcome.

Preseason records mean nothing. Nothing. In fact, bringing that up at all is just media crap. The Knicks are 1-3, not 1-8.

Ntilikina does alot of subtle, crafty things that are effective- much like Harden. This kid is on the floor making moves that has me thinking, “no way he gets this shot or doesn’t run into trouble”, and right on time- he makes a good play. It’s exciting to watch as a Knicks fan. My biggest worry is when KP runs out of gas and how are he and Hornacek gonna compensate. KP looks great as the top option, but can he sustain this new energy all season? I hope Hornacek has a sound plan for him.

All in all, the win against the Nets didn’t move the needle for me. Encouraging, but still “meh”. It’s way too early to feel good or bad about anything. If the team continues its seemingly improving play and is playing with this renewed energy come December, then I’ll get excited. I do wonder what happens next with Sessions and Jack. Sessions didn’t even see the floor last game, while Jack looked very much in control. I’m now wondering if Perry can pair him with Kuz for a decent pick once he’s eligible to be traded.

I think our halfcourt defense has looked okay thus far. We have some poor individual defenders so that’s an issue, but the effort seems to be there and they seem to be executing to a specific scheme without going off script. We’re not a good defensive team, but better than I expected early on. Let’s see if it continues.

    8. Bruno Almeida

Last game really did not go well for Sessions, he went from starter to out of the rotation really fast, and that was with Baker out.

He might be the one released when Noah gets back.

    9. Mike Honcho

I don’t if anyone has commented on this, but Porzingis is 4th in scoring right now in the NBA. That’s fairly meaningless this early in the season, but I have to admit it feels good to see a Knick up there.
