Bogdanovic (the youngish one coming to the NBA next year) looks filthy

    2. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

Look everyone, a PG who actually tries to alley oop to KP and let’s him be the dive man!

He literally smashed the 2nd block into the guys face, just fucking destroyed him

    3. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

It looks like KP learned from the Melo school of taking shots out of a double team for no reason

    4. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

Willy going ham in the Spain-Montenegro game, 10 points, 3 bounds on 5/6 shooting. Leads the team

    5. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

Did Davis Bertans just block Boban lmao

He got all the way up there too. What a guy.

    6. iserp

I would hope he’s playing well against Montenegro.

Basically Rubio and Sergio Rodriguez are killing them with steals.

Willy has done some nifty moves and a ferocious dunk. To nitpick, he lost the battle for rebounds with Vucevic perhaps a couple of times, and once he tried a move too far from the basket that resulted in an ill-fated shot.

    7. ptmilo

Well, he had some unicorn moments but if KP is stronger there’s no evidence from this game. Motor wasn’t great.

    8. DRed

Kristaps is a bum. We’ve got our narrative for the season. His head is too big, and we should trade him immediately.

Is there a Yankee blog similiar to Knickerblogger? Can’t seem to find one like this

BBA and I post on River Avenue Blues sometimes. The articles are great, but most of the comments are reactionary garbage.

good question captain…i was wondering the same thing myself…

i imagine it’s hard for a team fan blog not to descend in to utter nonsense or constant acrimony, populated with a bunch of either mindless fan boys or folks whom just want to see the world burn…

knickerblogger has the perfect blend of cautious optimism and justified cynicism – with some actual data thrown in…

Spain won easily 99-60. They let Willy to play quite a lot of minutes and lead all scorers with 18 points and 9 rebounds (3 TOs) in 20 minutes. His brother was 2nd in points with 15 and 5 rebounds (two 3 pointers).

    12. Frank

watched a few of the KP highlights from today – the notable thing is that he seems to have a bit more arc on his shot — looks way better.

    13. chrisk06811

DRed, how can you call the guy a bum? he’s 22, and this is some euro whatever game. That’s not enough to decide that this pussy is a bum

    14. ess-dog

Where is Boban playing? He looks to be pretty damn good. Considering their ages, you have to be happy with a Willy/KP front court.

The play now really should be 1. trade Melo for beans/picks, 2. Tank, 3. Draft Doncic. Just do it please.

    15. bobneptune

Kristaps is a bum. We’ve got our narrative for the season. His head is too big, and we should trade him immediately.

Nobody ever called the guy a bum. However, he was serious about wanting to rep his country so we have to assume he tried a little bit…. 4 whole rebounds in 28.5 minutes. One whole shot inside the restricted area out of 16 shots. 2 bloody free throws. Zero dishes. This game looked very much like many we have seen…. and expecting a quantum leap is well…….

He did have 4 blocks and shot well from 3

    16. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

KP didn’t look that much stronger, but he did better scrapping with Boban and fronting him when Boban wasn’t posting him up, which is where KP got taken advantage of.

I think he’s still getting there but improving, physically speaking.

    17. Jack Bauer

@32, one shot out of 16 inside?!? The guy is a legit 7’3″ – Get Down Low big fella and use your length for some high percentage shots instead of jacking up too many threes. It’s not that complicated.

Also KP will never reach his full potential with the Knicks until they get at least league average point guard play. I don’t expect them to get it this year with the cast of 1’s theyre going to roll out all season (Sessions, Baker, Frank, maybe Randle).

    18. TheOakmanCometh

New Orleans today packaged a 2nd round pick with Quincy Pondexter just to shed salary and clear a roster spot so they can sign someone to play SF as a replacement for Solomon Hill. And one of the guys they’re working out is Josh Smith. In other words, this team is desperate.

Scott Perry HAS TO be calling Dell Demps every day, offering Melo, Lee, Lance, and Kuz. And he should be working on Melo every day, convincing him to go make a playoff run with two other stars in New Orleans rather than languish in New York.

      One sample trade:

      Pelicans get: Melo
Knicks get: Solomon Hill, Omer Asik, Cheik Diallo (33rd pick in 2016), Frank Jackson (31st pick in 2017), 2018 1st round pick, 2020 1st round pick

The Pelicans are the perfect dupes that every GM salivates over (you know, like the Knicks and Kings usually are).

    19. Bruno Almeida

Yeahn the vultures are circling New Orleans now for sure. The Knicks and every decent franchise should be offering everything to them right now. I’d take Asik off their hands for a first round pick and give them a great package of Lee + Lance, solving wing depth issues 101!

    20. ClashFan

I don’t know. For taking on 3 years of Asik (plus at least one other contract to balance salaries), and giving a decent player (Lee) in return, I’d want both of those first rounders! It doesn’t hurt to ask.

    21. Brian Cronin

I don’t think you’ll get Melo to New Orleans, but they should be desperate enough to give up something of value for the amazing contract of Courtney Lee.

    22. Bruno Almeida

      @39

Yeah they can take O’Quinn too, just dump Ajinca on us and give us both first rounders.

Fleecing Pelicans picks looks to be the closest deal to the Celtics robbing the Nets, they look like such a disaster waiting to happen.

    23. Brian Cronin

I don’t even think they’re really waiting for it to happen. I think they’re already a disaster!

    24. Bruno Almeida

I mean, the season haven’t even started lol

But it’s been funny to watch people talk about the Pelicans, I browse reddit NBA every once in a while for news and a lot of people there are 100% convinced New Orleans has the best 4 and 5 in the NBA and are a lock for playoffs. They’re probably starting Rondo and E’twaun Moore or Ian Clark for gods sake, they HAVE to take Courtney Lee right?

    25. TheOakmanCometh

While Melo would be Fools Gold to New Orleans, they could actually use Courtney Lee a lot. They’re starting Rondo at SG for Christ’s sake.

I would take Asik, a 2018 1st rounder, and a 2020 pick swap for Lee.

    26. JK47

I would take Asik, a 2018 1st rounder, and a 2020 pick swap for Lee.

This would be a “too good to be true” trade for NYK. Asik’s contract is bad, but it runs the same length as Lee’s, and it’s for slightly less money. Squeezing two assets like that out of Courtney Lee just seems kind of impossible, regardless of how dumb the Pellies are.

    27. Bruno Almeida

      @50

Asik’s last year is only partially guaranteed for 3 million, so its substantially better then Lee’s actually, except for the fact that he’s kinda useless.

I’d offer KOQ too since the Pelicans are also extremely thin at the frontcourt (only Asik and Ajinca as backups and Cheick Diallo who’s very young and unproven) but yeah, sounds too good to be true.

    28. TheOakmanCometh

“Kinda useless” is actually generous for Asik. He’s essentially dead money. Lee, on the other hand, is a useful player and would bring a much needed skillset to New Orleans.

The classic fallacy of win-now GMs is thinking “we can give up picks because we’re going to be so good that the picks will be low.” I can definitely see Demps falling into this trap and giving us the 2018 pick (which, to be fair, will probably be in the 8-16 range) and the 2020 pick swap. Besides, he knows that if the team isn’t good this year he’s getting fired anyway, so future picks are more dispensable to him.

    29. TheOakmanCometh

Maybe I’m overrating Lee. But I consider him a neutral asset, like a C grade. Asik is a big negative. Like a D-.

      (Noah is an F.)

    30. Brian Cronin

Lee is definitely an upgrade for the Pelicans in the strict here and now sense. And since that’s all they moronically care about, make the deal, Pellies! You need Lee!

    31. TheOakmanCometh

Lee’s a C, but their current crop of wings is an F-. Probably the worst in the league. Lee would be a HUGE upgrade.

    32. Bruno Almeida

Yeah, Lee is probably a better fit for their team even if Solomon Hill was not injured. There’s probably other options Demps would rather explore first, but I can see them getting really desperate when they figure out their 1-2-3 “punch” of Jrue Holiday, Rajon Rondo and E’Twaun Moore wont get them anywhere and Cousins starts randomly averaging 6 threes and a tech a game.

They will probably wait to the start of the season and learn it the hard way. Very unbalanced team.
