Media starting to dog Derrick Rose in times for a trade:

The losses, the injuries, his role in the offense, his chemistry with new point guard Derrick Rose are all concerns for the 7-foot-3 Latvian phenom.

Since a spectacular November, Porzingis has tailed off, admitting coach Jeff Hornacek’s hybrid triangle offense has failed to produce consistency.

It has been noted backup point guard Brandon Jennings seems to target Porzingis more so than Rose.

In fact, one NBA source The Post, “I don’t think Derrick is helping Porzingis’s growth, with his head down going to the basket, not really looking for him.’’

But you knew that was coming. You think Toronto would have given up a 1st round pick and Terrence Ross for Serge Ibaka if he played in New York? All you’d here about is underperforming and angry Serge Ibaka who isn’t the same player he was in OKC. The beat writers here are very good at writing hit pieces and I irrationally blame them for every trade we don’t make.

Have we seen one instance this season where Derrick Rose drives to the basket and instead of putting up one of his 10/10 degree of difficulty shots, throws an alley oop to KP? Think about it, the only easy baskets KP gets are when he follows up a miss with a dunk. Or an occasional Jennings pass.

As much as I think Rubio would help KP in this regard, the prospect of having 2 players on the court that the defense can ignore (Noah and Rubio) is a little scary.

This is very true. I just hate how the media builds guys up and then tears them down to fit a narrative.

d-mar, don’t worry about that so much, Noah is never actually on the court

    6. Bruno Almeida

yeah, just play Willy instead of Noah if we get, let’s say, Fox in the draft.

I’m 100% that having a Point Guard who can actually pass will improve KP’s game a lot.

it feels like he’s forcing stuff because he knows he won’t get the ball unless he dribbles from the 3 pt line, and that’s a perfect way to turn an otherwise potentially efficient shooter into a bad one.

besides, the Knicka run literally zero pick and pops, which would generate tons of open shots for him.

    7. The Infamous Cdiggy

Ok so I read the Post article about Oak.

I don’t think anything he’s saying is wrong. But the points he make are now pretty much obvious. We know Dolan brought (or bought?) Spree and LJ to the Garden as a ploy. And I think it is at the very least interesting that Ewing hasn’t said anything publicly about the incident. And perhaps Dolan’s potential slandering of him hasn’t been rectified.

My love for Oak will never wane. I just think that, at this point, people will get tired of him hammering the point home in the media. Oak, you can let off the gas pedal a bit now. We all know the deal; just let your people do their work behind the scenes now.

Maybe Oak’s people can work out this deal: if Dolan publicly apologizes for alluding to Oak having mental or alcoholic problems, then Oak will chill and come back to the Garden to have his day.

    8. Philmelo

For the people who miss more statistical analyses on Knickerblogger here is “At the All-Star break, only 4 teams still have a legit shot to win the NBA Championship“:

Using Nate Silver’s 2016-17 NBA Predictions, a model that rates each team and then projects how the regular season and playoffs will play out, we can get a better sense of which teams are the true championship contenders. The model simulates the remainder of the season 50,000 times and considers factors such as travel distance, fatigue and altitude.

According to the model, the Warriors have a whopping 56% chance to win the title. The Spurs (13%), Cavaliers (10%), and Celtics (5%) are the only other teams with a legit shot (5%+) to win it all. Only six other teams are even given a 1% chance to win the title, with the Wizards just missing the 5% cutoff. Meanwhile, the other 20 teams are at less than 1%, meaning their seasons are already over.

    9. Philmelo

Nate Silver gets a lot of hate but he’s predicted the past few presidential elections on the money.

::dodges rotten tomatoes hurled my way::

      Except for the 2016 election.

tbf if the ball bounced back to my hand like that I might be convinced it was flat too

That is funny. What’s not funny is that it’s also the official stance of the US government.

Agreed, just like Dolan went too far with his interview comments and it backfired on him big time, Oakley is nearing that point, too. Check your pride, man.

    13. Cock Jowles, #1 Pythag. Wins Denialist

Ben Wallace just got snubbed from the HOF this year.

Of course he was. Who cares if he’s #1 all-time in DBPM? Guy didn’t score pointz.

    14. Ingmarrr

Or that he was the best player on a team that got the rings one year and went to game 7 of the finals the next year. One of my all time favorites.

    15. Farfa

One thing you’ve got to love about european soccer is that great defensive players get (or better yet, got… but still) almost the same recognition as the offensive players. In basketball, it’s much rarer.

    16. Bruno Almeida

I don’t think people should be shitting on the Sixers right now, cause they look a lot better than most “win-now” bad teams.

    17. ClashFan

Wait, shouldn’t someone be complaining about KP’s lack of defensive rebounding in the Skills Challenge?
      :-)

ESPN reporting that Melo will not be traded because he won’t waive his NTC.

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo!

    19. DRed

ESPN reporting that Melo will not be traded because he won’t waive his NTC

Not very surprising. Only two more years.

    20. kevin5318

Yeah I don’t see anything. I very much doubt that he would let something like this leak during the break.

    21. bidiong

Melo only said that he hasn’t been approached but he is happy to get away from the dysfunction of the Knicks.

    22. GoldClub

Was reported on TV, “sources close to the Knicks reporting that Anthony will not waive his NTC”. I’m not sure I believe it but that may just be wishful thinking on my part.
