Knicks Game 1 Meet-Up!

April 17th, 2011 by | @KnickerBlogger | Comments | Permalink |

Tonight, Sunday 4/17, you’re invited to the second ever KnickerBlogger Meet-Up, playoff edition. It’ll be at Lilly O’Brien’s which is in downtown Manhattan. Closest train is the 1/2/3 or ACE @ Chambers St, while the RW @City Hall, 456 @ Brooklyn Bridge or Path train at WTC is a 5 minute walk. By car it’s close to the Brooklyn Bridge, Holland Tunnel, and West Side Highway. In other words it’s pretty easy to get to from about anywhere.

Unless you’re heading up to Boston, there’s no better place to be. Come hang with some of the KB staff and get some world class analysis!

I’m gonna take advantage of this thread and beg my fellow knickerbloggers NOT to test the dreaded “Curse of the First post” in tomorrow night’s game thread… Humor a superstitious Knicks fan will ya???
    Pretty please???

CR — just beat them to the punch. Game threads usually go up 1 hour before the games. Arrive at 6 and post something about how much you like fruity pebbles or something.

I wish I could come to the meetup. About 17 years ago, the bar would have been a five minute walk for me (not that I was old enough to get in then). Now it would be a 14 hour drive.

Well if you had left at 2am when you posted it, you’d be half way here by now! :-)

If I didn’t have to go out to Long Island for a long Passover weekend, I’d be there. Count me in for game 1 of the Knicks-Heat series though.

Anyone expecting any wrinkles in our game plan?
I’d love to see Amare shoot some 3′s to pull Garnett out of the middle- he anchors their whole interior D.

And this is only a wrinkle because they haven’t done it much, but I’d love to see more PnR with Melo as both ball handler and picker.

    Frank says:

Sorry that sounds like Melo will set the pick for himself. What I mean is Melo could be the roll guy with billups as ball handler, and be ball handler when Amare is setting the pick

Great article in the WSJ, linked by Zach Lowe, who is always a great read IMO:

Wow, i thought there would be more activity, on this board. Its the friggin playoffs baby. lets go!!!!!
Pick and roles with Amare and Melo, should be a staple of the offense. Both players are absolutley unguardable if spaced correctly.

Big key is for Amare to be first half Amare and dominate kg. if we do that, we will be a problem.

Another big key is if we can contain ray allen

Got home from work at 9 this morning, sleep did not last long. I’m so pumped. Let’s just enjoy this guys, we’ve been due for playoff smiles and nervous guts for way too long :)

When the morning shift was coming in this morning and they were asking me how I was doing today my response was “imagine if Christmas hadn’t come for the last six years and you woke up and it was Christmas morning, That’s how good I’m doing :)”

Right now I’ve got like 3 maybes, so it’s likely to be an intimate setting. (Let’s hope some Rangers blog doesn’t choose this same place…)

these dudes on tnt are laughing at us(knicks). They are laughing at the knicks like they got no chance. Is charles barkley a hater or are we looking through blue and orange glasses?

Knicks can make some weird NBA history in this series though. If they advance to round 2 they’ll be the only NBA team to advance to rd 2 from all 8 seeding positions.
