Z, I won't say anything more on the subject, but making out with $28.5 M after a 23-59 season when Brown had violated multiple clauses in his contract seems like a good deal to me :) First off, you always sue for more than you think you could ever get, and second, Stern gave Brown the maximum amount of money that he could award him while keeping the peace with the other owners.

My point before was that I am still sickened by the Knicks front office. I thought Walsh and D'Antoni were going to bring some much needed maturity to the American Apparel of the NBA, but no - they've handled the Marbury situation deplorably. Stupidity starts at the top, and Dolan still owns the team.

"I think that settlement was heavily in Larry Brown’s favor..."

Brown was owed $43 million and sought an extra $12 million in damages. He was forced to settle for $18.5 by the commissioner. How is that settlement heavily in Brown's favor??

Besides, Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni's credibility is not penalized by Isiah Thomas' sex scandal.

The organization actually DOES have credibility, as evidenced in the Larry Brown settlement.

I think that settlement was heavily in Larry Brown's favor. David Stern still awarded Larry Brown $18.5 M (almost 2 year's pay of the 4 year contract), which is far better than the $6 M settlement he received from the Pistons (1 year's pay out of 3 year contract). Brown was the one who added the stipulation in his contract with the Knicks that Stern would rule on the settlement, because he knew that he'd get a much better deal. Before, and after an $11.5 M sexual harassment settlement, the Knicks front office is more of an embarrassment to New York and the NBA than any 23-59 team on the floor of MSG.

I'm sorry, but there's a big difference in saying "I am not playing," and saying "I don't want to play." The Knicks can suspend Marbury if they want to, but he's getting his money back upon appeal.

The Knicks organization has zero credibility around the league, and I expect the players union to continue to stand up to a corrupt franchise that thinks that public humiliation and media feuds are acceptable business practices. As for Richardson, he can say what he likes (and perhaps justifiably so from his perspective), but D'Antoni told Marbury that he was no longer a part of the team in no uncertain terms from game one; whether he knows it or not, Richardson is part of the problem - both as an overpaid underachiever, and as another member of the Knicks that can't keep the house drama behind closed doors.

Give Marbury his 21.9 M and put everyone out of their misery. This situation is hurting the team, and it needs to end immediately. After millions of dollars of buyouts, this is when Dolan gets fiscally responsible?

Even though Q-Rich has incredibly declining skills I have to respect him for his commitment to the team. He works hard and plays D and sometimes his body betrays him (Back, Ankle,Whatever injury is next) but still he comes to play and tries to be a locker room leader.

Oh, yeah, I still think D'Antoni handled the situation horribly, but Marbury just has got to play the second time he's asked. He should have agreed the first time, but I understood it - I can't understand saying no again.

And it's good to see his teammates take him to task for it.

why have marbury home when we can use his roster spot for another guard? eihter by trade or even scraps. better to have a willing and able body than this. even if the talent level isnt the same, this turd is only hurting not helping.

Marbury claimed after the first time that it wasn't refusing to play, because refusing to play is when you're on the bench and the coach points at you and you say no.

anyway, I hope he's not released unless he takes a major cut on his salary, let him sit home all year. it makes me laugh that he or anyone else thinks he's going to be an impact player in this league on some other team, he just isn't very good anymore.
