Frank: DRed – we just beat the defending champs at their place with 4 out of our top 10 players out.I think the ceiling for this team is pretty high, although it’ll obviously be difficult for Woody to sort out the rotation when all these guys are healthy. Even if we had hit 35% of our 3?s last night rather than 40, we would still have won by double digits.

We are 32-10 under Woody in the regular season. We’ve gone beyond a hot streak and into a place where we should believe.

I’m pretty sure the Miami Heat are believers right now.

Oh, don't get me wrong Frank, I'm on board with this team. This is the first Knicks team I think has a legit chance to win a title since the 1990s. I just think that it's now is not the right time to bet on it.

One hilarious note about the Dallas comparisons that I think everyone here but one person will find comfort in. Wins Produced claims that Dirk was basically an average player in 2011, when Dallas won the title and he won the Finals MVP. Jason Kidd, Tyson Chandler, and Shawn Marion were the clear cut top 3 of the team (Chandler, Kidd, Brewer anyone?) and Jason Terry sucked. Considering the similarities between Melo and Dirk/Terry and JR, I'm very happy about the fact that WP doesn't think they are good. Berri wrote an article that said Dallas should have traded Dirk and kept Kris Humpries that very year... It's amazing how often contenders just toss away WP superstars and get better or at least stay exactly the same. Suddenly OKC is the clear cut best team in the league, and I'm starting to think that Kevin Martin is just a straight up upgrade for them at this point (fit matters, as I will always stand on. A better player can be less valuable on a poorly constructed team)

What are the odds for the Knicks winning it all, I need to place a wager quick. And im also putting woody coach of the year and Melo mvp.

Juany8: So Miami’s small lineup faced Bass-Garnett-Nobody and Perkins-Ibaka-Collison in the last 2 rounds. Not one of those players is actually that good at rolling hard to the basket off a pick and roll, they’re pick and pop players at best, and even Dallas went away from the pick and pop in the Finals (cont).

Totally agree on this point. Perkins is a black hole of offense, Ibaka/Collison are excellent players but not really offensive threats (at least not yet in Ibaka's case), and Garnett/Bass are mid-long range jumpshooters at this point in their careers. Especially against Miami, who relies so much on their athleticism to get out to 3 point shooters after packing the lane, Tyson is just a destructive force. I didn't really notice the "vertical spacing" that Spoelstra was talking about last night (and Ruru posted about this morning), but Tyson's speed/ferocity seems to cause Miami to take one extra step into the lane, which opens up the shooters for their shots. Then Felton.... wow what a game. The mix of Felton's attacking, Tyson's beasting was just a pleasure to watch last night.

And like I wrote before, there's not only something very wrong with Wade, but also with Chalmers. Remember that guy? the one that absolutely tormented poor Jeremy Lin in that game last year? Chalmers used to be a really solid PG defender, but he has just been blown by in both games by Felton. He definitely looks fat and out of shape to me. And when he gets in foul trouble like he did last night, the drop off to Cole and whoever is huge.

If I'm Spoelstra, I give Wade a week or 2 off to heal up mind and body. Miami will get a top 4 seed in their sleep, and that's probably all they really need. I sit Chalmers, Battier, etc. until they're really healthy. So what if they go .500 during that stretch? They'll be better for it later in the season.

I don’t watch Barkley much, but I think at least a bit of that position is just a persona designed to draw controversy and ratings. how many Knicks fans watched the first half of the late game last night solely to see how Barkley would react to the big NY win at halftime? a lot, I’m sure.

Rewatched the game again and I'm slowly starting to move to the opinion that Miami is not an unstoppable force. Defensively they are limited because Bosh is their center and their only passable solution to this problem is playing a traditional lineup with Joel Anthony at center. The problem is that Anthony is a fucking travesty on offense and they will have the same problems offensively with him that they experienced in 2010-11.

People talk about unsustainable three point shooting levels. Guess what? That's pretty much how the Mavericks and last year's Heat won the NBA Finals. Dallas went berserk from 3, especially in games 2,4 and 5 of that series. The corpse of Shane Battier lit it up in the Finals last year, as well as the rest of their supporting cast. If you can hit the 3, that's a threat that will always exist and when you move the ball like we have all year, there's no reason to think all of a sudden we're going to stop getting quality looks.

Oh and lastly fuck Charles Barkley. Look you can think Brooklyn is better and that Miami isn't trying yet, but the fact of the matter is show me a team with a better resume. Win in San Antonio, 2 20-point wins against Miami and 2 double digit wins against Philly. Then to dismissively say we can't shoot like this. Charles did you watch the fucking game? Other than Felton and J.R. nobody took a three without being in rhythm. Also we totally can shoot like this if any defense played like Miami's tonight. Can't believe this guy gets payed to analyze the NBA. Hopefully the Garden faithful let him know what's up next Thursday against the Lake Show.
