On a somewhat related topic, does anyone else think that it’s kind of strange how all of the pundits are talking about how great the Bulls are going to be as soon as Derrick Rose gets back? Why does anyone assume that he is immediately going to be the quick as lightning athletic freak that he was before suffering the exact same injury that Shumpert had?

Right- look at it this way- say Phx gives us the worse of their two picks (LAL) and it comes out to be #12. Then we pick trey Burke. Does Burke plus Dudley sound better?

I don’t make that deal, Dudley does not put us over the top or give us cap relief; we also are thin at guard right now in terms of guys that can “potentially” slow down fleet opposing guards. Shump is part of that mix. Dudley is just a spare part in the SG-SF mix, he adds pretty much nothing.

On the other hand, if we could swing a deal involving anyone other than Shump, I would be all for it (any of Novak, Brewer, Camby, White, Cope, Kurt, plus maybe a second-round pick).

I’d dump Shump for Dudley and a draft pick in a second…..

That was a pretty inspiring end to the game by Melo. Although the rest of the game was horrible. Just horrible.

The Wolves gave that game away, which is what bad teams do. They could be interesting next year though, with Love, Pekovic, Kirilenko, and Rubio and the other assorted spare parts. Playoff material perhaps, maybe even a dangerous first round draw.

To be fair- it’s not just dumping Shumpert for Dudley in the above scenario- it’s moving Shumpert for Dudley (who makes less than Novak) and a late lottery pick who will himself be under a rooke contract until 2017 or something.

Anyway- I wouldn’t do it but I wouldn’t be too upset f that’s how it shakes out.

yeah, Shumpert has been pretty terrible since coming back so far, but dumping him now for Dudley is ridiculous.

Trading Shump for Dudley is batshit insane. Watch Dudley play a couple of games. He is a decent spot-up shooter but not better than Novak, and he is *maybe* marginally better than Novak at defense. Jesus, give the kid a chance before trading him for slop.

Frank: Honestly- Shumpert plus someone like Novak for Dudley plus filler and a top 5-8 protected first is good enough for me. Dudley’s a good player, and having a near lottery pick plus our own pick sets us up nicely for the post big 3 era. I love Shumpert but that’s not bad return. Not saying I would make that deal but i wouldn’t be too upset. I overall don’t like the idea of trading assets at the bottom of their trade value so I wouldn’t do it myself- but it wouldn’t be too terrible.

Post big 3 era? I think that's going to be awhile. The idea is just to continue to make good decisions, one at a time. Like you mentioned, trading Shump is selling extremely low. Look at how much he's improved his spot-up shot since returning. His timing, confidence and rhythm aren't there yet, but when they come he'll be leaps and bounds better than he was last season. His first step and explosion to the basket look great.
