David Crockett: Lin says he got the MRI after the Detroit game, but decided to give it some time. He says he still can’t jump or cut. So, best to have surgery now.

I think Lin was having problems even before Detroit. The previous night, in the loss to the Raptors, he kept handing the ball to Fields as soon as they crossed mid-court. That was definitely not the Lin I knew. Woodson could have ordered the rapid handover, but that made no sense to me. Why would anybody want Fields to do the playmaking if Lin was available? I couldn't understand it at the time. Now I think I understand. Lin was already hurting.

He said in the interview he couldn’t cut or jump when they tested it this morning after rehabbing for a week. So even if it was chronic something happened to make it symptomatic.

Yes - Lin and Shumpert are starters next year. Yes - They should win the Atlantic next year.

Lin will be fine and will be our starting 1 for years. Let’s get JJ healthy and play the same tough D that we have been playing. Lets make a little noise in the playoffs this year. Can we get some help at the 1 from the D league? Sessions would have been nice about now, but whatever. There must be a 1 somewhere that can help us. This sucks, but it is not Armageddon.

MDA didn’t play Lin excessively more than other starters in the league. I put the blame on the ridiculously compressed schedule which leaves little time to heal between games. As well as Lin’s aggressive playing style, and perhaps referees letting him get hammered. It seems many teams have been hit with injuries; it’s not just Knicks bad luck. It must have been foreseen that injuries would amass from this schedule, which has so many back-to-backs and even 3 games in a row, but too much revenue would have been lost by cutting even more games from the season. What a messed up year.
