Any update on the status of Shawne Williams? I really liked his game on both ends for the price. Is he reluctant to go for a 1-year deal?

I suppose the corpse of Grant Hill is about what is available for the 1-year deal scenario, does signing him make Shawne expendable?

Training camp tomorrow? WOO-HOO!!!!

I like the re-signing of Jared Jeffries, it gives the Knicks a defensive Forward, which they need BAD. But, I hope the Knicks can sign Marcus Camby or somebody else that can rebound and defend instead of having Jeffries for their starting center.

You know, if you look back at the debates about players the Knicks should or should not have traded to get what they have, I have to say there isn't one I regret.
We gave up a bunch of role players, with Lee, Nate, Gallo and WC heading the list. I wanted to see the team of the first half mature together and see what happens, but I think we'll be fine.

The Knicks will not make a straight up trade for Paul. They need a third and perhaps fourth team to get the kind of assets NO wants.
But I think it will come down to free agency.

I smell a T-Shirt in there somewhere.

@60 - Agreed... with the sharpshooter wright sinking 3s, its very well rounded. Chandler is the best compliment to what Lee Brings. Can cover up his Defensive shortcomings. The only problem is who guards the bigger 2s in the west?

A Paul/Monta/Lee/Chandler group sounds pretty fun. Paul should actually make Monta a lot better. It's not a bad market either. I think if Paul goes there with Chandler he might extend.

A major problem that I see is that the only spot where the Hornets are actually sort of happy is at combo-guard, as they are fans of Jarrett Jack. And the Knicks don't have anything to offer but combo-guards. You have to figure, then, that the Knicks will work the three-team combination hard, with presumably Billups and/or Douglas being the guys shopped heaviest, as I think that they have the best trade value (Shumpert might be good, but no one really knows for sure yet).

So it would be Billups, Fields, Douglas (and probably even Shumpert) vs. Aminu, Bledsoe and the Minnesota pick. I probably still take the Clipper offer, if only because of that pick, but…

A. Yeah, it is way closer than the media is presenting it as

and

B. Who knows if the Clippers are even offering that much. They might not even have the pick on the table.

I was going to mention this. I would probably take Curry/Thompson for an unsigned Paul. Any Clipper offer w/o Gordon doesn't really make sense. Jordan isn't that good. They will get a player of that caliber with their own pick the following year.

But yeah, Billups, Fields, Shumpert and a pick doesn't look that bad now if Paul won't sign anywhere else.

The $3 million limit was something I was surprised that the owners insisted on. It definitely is a competitive balance issue (as the rich teams could afford to pay more every year), but I really wonder how it will factor in to future dealings. I somehow doubt any notable deals don't get done because of that new rule. It just saves the rich teams money.
