damnit novak!!!! how about you just nwrap the guy up? i knowhes not athletic, but doesnt he have any pride?? is he really OK with being THIS unathletic??

    yellowboy90:
3 straight TOs from JR kept the Raps in it for the 1st.

Amazing how seldom we see such moments of boneheadedness running side-by-side-by-side of each other.

  3. AnonymousODG

Up by 9 early on only o have JR and Copeland come in to let them tie it up. Their +/- must be awful right now.

  4. BigBlueAL

Woodson cant be pissed at the Raptors driving to the basket at will when his 2 “bigs” defending the paint are Cope and Novak.

  5. AnonymousODG

I don’t know how Woodson can be yelling at anybody right now. He has Copeland in at C with Novak at PF, and he’s raging about how there is no interior defense?

Is there some imaginary ghost player in there that only Woodson can see? To be less specious about it, why in the holy hell isn’t Camby in there?

  6. maxwell_3g

i swear i cant tell the difference between martin and melo on my tv….until they shoot

    maxwell_3g:
breen criticizung the officials.you kniow that off foul on melo was bull

Sources tell me that the referee swore he saw Melo wielding 3 foot-long adamantium claws on that swipe.

  8. BigBlueAL

If Marc Gasol is out hopefully he stays out thru Wed since the Knicks host Memphis on Wed.

  9. maxwell_3g

how do some player get old and cant stay in shape or cant do anyhting well anymore, but k-mart is laying on his couch and then comes right back athletic??

told you months before he signed guy was freak of nature physically.

He actually can get a little better athletically in the next few weeks.

I can’t feel bad about this because of how obviously decimated we’ve been with injuries.

KMart is also playing at a level that resembles Chandler’s best this season. Doesn’t matter if it’s because he hasn’t played a full season, or he’s hungry due to not being signed by any other team, or he’s just compelled to fill in the gap left by Chandler/Thomas, it’s pretty to watch.

Uh, yeah. If it’s a tear he’ll be lucky to make playoffs I’m guessing. what a bummer he was playing perhaps as well as his brother ever has.

yeah, he’s playing great. But the guy has had long stretches at this level and higher. As I’ve mentioned before, if he consistently plays 30+ minutes his motor will wane. That’s what I’m worried about.

Martin is one of the rare players that has an extra gear in the playoffs, and he’s clearly playing with fresh legs, but if Woodson doesn’t start to cut back soon there could be problems with tendinitis.

it’s no coincidence that the one year Martin wasn’t hobbled by tendinitis in his knee the Nuggets reached the WCF (it was also the only time all the top 6 rotation players were healthy going into the playoffs)..

There’s no excuse not to play Camby at this point.

Amen, like wtf is Camby hurt? No reason he got no burn in the first half

  15. maxwell_3g

honestly, melo shouldnt be wasting his energy on the things that scrubs like fields do

  16. maxwell_3g

while i respect the research of “the other Max”, no way is shump at the heart of our problems. all of those stats suffer from small sample size

  17. ephus

Shumpert bailed out ‘Melo for not hustling back after missing the baseline J. Shump stripped Valacinus, who was free because the Knicks were playing 4 on 5 defense.

On the other end of the court, Melo made a beautiful diagonal pass to a cutting K-Mart after ‘Melo drew the double in the post.

  18. AnonymousODG

er: Amen, like wtf is Camby hurt? No reason he got no burn in the first half

It is exceptionally odd. And him not being able to come out does not bode well for Melo playing reduced minutes since nobody wants Copeland, Novak and JR out there without a true big.

  19. ephus

This game is getting really chippy. Get ‘Melo out of there before he takes a swing at someone or picks up a T.

Welp. Guess it works out when your opponent decides to completely give up. If I were a Raptors fan, the only word I’d be able to think of would be “disgrace.”

I’m a bit baffled at how nobody on the MSG team has talked about Camby’s circumstances. Quite annoyed with that actually.

  21. maxwell_3g

this was a great business like win. i thought prigs was exceptional tonight, as was k-mart obviously. and i am once again reminded how happy i am that we are not paying fields big money

I had the Toronto feed, and one of the announcers actually said, “If Fields could just get back to his rookie shooting stroke…..” Yeah, dream on, buddy.

I was a big fan of Fields when he was a Knick. His dive in overall play has been nothing short of precipitous. Gotta wonder just what is wrong with him as most former Knicks enjoy robust careers after leaving us.

Also, I’m not sure how many people caught it, but JR scoring a basket with less than a second on the game clock was such a d1ck move. Hilarious though.

  24. Frank

Pretty sure Woodson is just going to avoid playing Camby on the 2nd night of back-to-backs. I doubt it’s anything else.

Shump looked like 2011-12 Shump tonight. Must’ve read Max’s hit piece on him.

  25. BigBlueAL

Pacers lost in Chicago, tied with the Knicks for 2nd place (although Knicks have 1 less loss with 2 less games played).

  26. jon abbey

Shump getting those quick hands back on D, love to see that.

sorry for another Tyson/Martin comparison, but Tyson has only had 37+ points in consecutive games three times this season, and two of those had the same 28 point game in the middle.

and I love how consistently physical Martin is, no touch fouls for him. it’s like a bit of a Mason/Oakley flashback, also I thought of the year we had Maurice Lucas.

  27. Garson

What’s your thoughts on kmart startin next to melo and Chandler on his return?

Spacing on offense would be tight but the intensity on defense is hard to ignore.

  28. jon abbey

he has to be the 5th starter, it’s time to set the rotation for the home stretch (Woodson said the second part of this today too).

  29. BigBlueAL

Beck tweeted before the game that Woodson said once Chandler returns KMart will go back to the bench.

I guess that makes sense. K-Mart is the only big on our team capable of spelling Tyson Chandler. Now that K Mart is playing at a high level, I expect Tyson to return to his T-1000 form from last season.

Another good win. It’s starting to feel like Stella (the Knicks) has her groove back from December.

  31. BigBlueAL

Yeah with the lack of depth in the frontcourt and Woodson not exactly in love with Camby it makes sense to bring KMart off the bench once Chandler returns.

Curious to see if he stays with the Prigs-Felton-Shump starting trio.

  32. jon abbey

putting in Martin/JR together would be quite the burst of energy, but I still think it’s time to go to a real starting five.

  33. nicos

I don’t mind Martin coming off of the bench but I’d love to see him get some minutes alongside Chandler. West and Boozer lead their respective teams in usage so being able to shut those guys down would really put a crimp in Indiana or Chicago’s offenses. I’d rather not wait until the playoffs to see whether Martin and Chandler can co-exist on offense enough to to make a Chandler/Martin/Melo frontline a viable option.

Actually, if Woodson is going to have a “token starter”, I think at this point he should consider Camby. Let’s start the game with a huge lineup that can wall off the paint for a few minutes and establish a good defensive rhythm while Melo dominates the offense early, then start bringing in Kmart and JR for a continued burst of energy. You can’t have terrible players out of their comfort zones out there just to keep JR and Kmart coming off the bench for semantical reasons

Agreed that if there is going to be a token then it has to be Camby.
I just can’t understand the use of Camby at all. Okay you don’t want him to play the second night of a back to back, but he literally played like 10 minutes last night. And seriously Kurt Thomas just played through a fucking stress fracture. With the lack of depth in our frontcourt would it really kill us to use this guy we are paying 3 million dollars this season for.

I can’t even accept that Woodson is super concerned about his wealth considering his willingness to run at various points this season Melo, Kidd and Felton through the minutes grinder. Remember he allowed Melo to play two consecutive games in which he looked like a zombie. He re-inserted him at Golden State in the fourth quarter when were down by about 20 with 7 minutes left. Whatever we weren’t winning that game and if we were it was not going to be because Anthony balled outrageous.

I am really enjoying how much more active Shumpert and Kidd have been over the last few games defensively, constantly knocking balls loose and stripping players. Again this is how we played at the beginning of the season, winning the turnover battle by a margin is a huge catalyst for this team. Also the ball movement has looked much sharper again. Tyson coming back ready to destroy all could finally make us the elite defensive team we thought…

“considering his willingness to run at various points this season Melo, Kidd and Felton through the minutes grinder…”

Maybe he’s learning his lesson? Those guys have been injured but they’re not really injury prone. Idk, after him being right on STAT, he deserves the benefit of doubt.
