It is is awesome that Shump is starting. They must have a lot of faith in his recovery (or extremely little faith in White and Brewer).

    Michael Cline says:

Forced to watch at buffalo wild wings, with music absolutely cranked. :(

Ready to see Shump back in action. Hoping he has some tenacity, but takes it easy on that knee

Is it just me or does it look like everyone is playing in slo-mo?
Good shooting to start, but everyone looks absolutely sluggish

Hard to start a game better than this. Threes and drawing fouls. Nice. 13-2 lead.

It’s so nice to see perimeter D with some bite and backbone.

True, but the Pistons are playing like such garbage that I don’t think it’ll really matter. But yeah, against a better team I’d be a bit concerned.

    maxwell_3g says:

now this was a startingneup that we can get bed. shum to help with ball handling and defense. cope at the 3 to provide spacing and allow melo to play at the 4. the question is when felton comes back do we move shump to the bench to form a dynamic benhc duo with jr or to we keep him at the 2 and allow kidd to help prigs run the second unit

Oh yeah, I meant just in this particular game. Going into the game I was at least a little concerned about the Pistons but then they started the game so poorly I can’t bring myself to worry much about them. The Knicks have this in the bag.

  23. 23

When Melo is on fire from three, the other team is absolutely fucked.

It’s not a playoff lineup. Camby needs to start when he gets back.

Jumper a lot more quiet. Hounding defense on Prince. Went over screens. Looks great.

    Brian Cronin says:

He looked fine. The Pistons were mostly trying to go inside while he was in the game, so we didn’t see his man to man defense too much, but he looked good out there. And aggressive as always, hounding guys and fighting over screens!

Drummond’s combination of size and athleticism could really be terrifying if he starts to understand the finer points of the game.

B.S. calls on both ends of the court there — Amare’s foul and then Drummond’s. At least their are consistent, I suppose.

Remember when Tayshaun was good? Feels like forever ago. Melo abused him left and right on both ends of the court

  36. 36

Drummond should look into the Rick Barry method. That form is UGLY. The pause, the angle of his wrist on release. Just ugly.

The guy is a stud with a great ceiling, no question. Longer span than Oden, every bit the athlete he was coming out, obviously minus pretty much all of the skill.

Sure. But you can’t help but see the Dwight Howard comparisons. The guy is lightening quick off of his feet, and yet built strong enough to defend the largest guys in the league

I don’t see that, but just my opinion. I”m a life long Ohio State fan, born and raised. I watched Oden play in high school while I attended college in Indiana, and on through his short college career. In my opinion, Drummond is more athletic, like Howard

Dude, nobody is disparaging Andre Drummond. I think 100% of us would kill to have him on the Knicks bench giving 25 minutes a night. ruru derided the fact that by some metrics, Drummond is considered the 3rd best player in the NBA, which, I’m sorry, IS LUDICROUS. But is he bad? Hell no. He’s awesome and should play more. Your constant bating and straw-manning is so, so very pointless and misplaced.

What’s even more disappointing to me is that Andy Pettite does give a crap.

This is not much of a showcase for basketball. I wonder how the Pistons wound up getting picked for this?

The WBC takes place during American spring training, but in the middle of the Korean and Japanese seasons. I don’t blame teams like the Yankees barring their players from competing. Imagine a guy like Tex or CC going down with an injury in relatively meaningless international competition.

Pettitte isnt on the roster released today.

Who cares if he plays, its a tournament played every 4 years that is taken very seriously by the players of all the other countries except USA. To me its a missed opportunity to have a great showcase in March leading up to the MLB regular season.

Oden definitely was awkward but he was way more athletic than given credit for imo. Not just his raw measurables, but game athleticism. Plus his instincts and timing on defense, never mind his post skill, he was going to be an all-time great.

We have a huge lead and he has bad knees.

I know you were never worried about this game even as the Pistons made their huge run in the 3rd :-)

Hehe, I mean I was at least a little worried, but yeah, I figured that the Knicks would still pull it off when they got that weird lineup out of there.

Nice win, now if the Lakers can beat the Heat tonight they would be tied in 1st with the Knicks.

Some major flaws in the first part of this analysis, otherwise provides a pretty basic look at Melo’s improved efficiency:

ruruland: Looks like a nice arena. Wondering how they’ll use newly-built Olympic facilities.

My friend at the game said the stadium was pretty generic on the inside, but he did ride the tube with JR Smith and his little brother. Said they didn’t want to leave London.

Brian Cronin: Did you seriously not know that he died yesterday? If not, that’s kind of an insane coincidence.

    That is crazy.

In reading this thread, I laughed at the Diff’rnt Strokes reference, figuring nobody was going to get it. (I, myself, wouldn’t have gotten it if I hadn’t had a long conversation this week with my sister reminiscing about our favorite episodes, and trying to remember the name of the guy who played Mr. Drummond… we were on a boat in the Caribbean with no Internet access, and upon returning to shore I forgot to google the answer…) Twighlight Zone is right!

Thanks for breaking the news of his name, Chris:) … And for breaking the news of his death, Brian :(

(That’s what I love about this site: information that transcends the game of basketball!)
