Game Thread: Knicks @ Bobcats

It’s always hard to know what to do in times like these, whether care or caution ought to trump normalcy. While you watch — if you watch — please be kind to one another. Let’s make sure this is one of those times where sport brings us together. For as long as it takes to help us heal.

Got to say I am very intrigued as to how this goes. I hope the Knicks set the record for threes attempted tonight.

  2. johnlocke

Novak giving away his playoff minutes to Cope with his normal lack of defense and now, missing open threes. Didn’t know Cope was 16th best 3 pt shooter in the NBA either

  3. maxwell_3g

mare and shump take weeks to months to round into form……..sheed comes back and is immediately nailing step back j’s

  4. gmoney_nz

ok so the shooting percentages will level out but who cares, all this is now about is getting Sheed’s legs back under him and then getting outta there right?

Had to stop by and send some positive thoughts out to the people of Boston and other impacted by today’s events.

indeed. Tragic event – thoughts coming from us here in Christchurch, New Zealand to those affected in Boston. all our thoughts are with you.

Why is Woodson resting Jones tonight? Isn’t this exactly the kind of throwaway game they signed him for?

According to the beat writers Jones was waived today for some reason.

Cope going for 30 this game. Flight White outplaying Shump. Only 7 players played that first half, with 4 players already playing over 20 minutes. The only true bench warmer on the team is James White and he’s actually played fairly well this first half…crazy.

  10. johnlocke

Waived cuz we’re getting Sheed back. Also rumors that we may be interested in using his roster spot to add someone else… like a Delonte West

Why would you assume that? His foot’s probably just sore and not worth playing rest of the game.

    BigBlueAL:
Sheed out for rest of the game and I would assume rest of the season.

  12. gmoney_nz

natural reaction for Knicks fans – not playing due to soreness so often leads to amputation. i hope its just precautionary and after 4 minutes they just felt it was a tad too soon. We need big bodies in Boston and Indiana.

He cant play more than 4 minutes tonight and you expect him to be ready to play in the playoffs which start on Saturday??

  14. maxwell_3g

apparently woody was as disgusted as all of us in the free agent signing the knicks brought in. no pt for solomon

What is the story with Camby, we keep hearing that he is close to being ready for the past month or so but we haven’t seen him play a minute. Is he going to be as ready as Sheed for the play-offs? Are we looking at a run for the title with KMart and Chandler as our only two bigs?

  16. BigBlueAL

As long as Chandler and KMart are ready by Saturday the Knicks will be fine. I mean if Camby or Sheed can play for 5 minutes here and there than that will be great too but safe to say cant expect either of them to provide decent minutes in the playoffs.

Also Isola today tweeted that apparently Woodson said if Amar’e cant play in the 1st round he thinks he’ll be ready for the 2nd round. Interesting because this is the first time Ive seen Woodson even talk about Amar’e playing soon. I mentioned yesterday and read an article today as well (forgot who wrote it) that talked about how Woodson never talks about Amar’e like he does the other bigs including Sheed and even Camby. So if he did mention Amar’e today could be a positive development in terms of Amar’e returning fairly soon.

Man, the Knicks clearly suck! They are getting blown out by one of the worst teams in the NBA! How can they expect to win in the playoffs?

Seriously, though, this game actually sort of screws Charlotte over. It drops them into a tie with Orlando for the worst record in the NBA. Poor Charlotte, they can’t win even when they win!

Ive read/heard Woodson talk about Camby being available if necessary for spot minutes in the playoffs. I think at this point he obviously cant play consistent minutes but the sense I get is once the playoffs start Camby will be available if necessary. Just dont know when Woodson would be willing to play him.

  19. BigBlueAL

Interesting to see Chicago winning easily tonight, thought maybe they would just tank and settle for the 6 seed. 5 seed very much in play still for them assuming they win tonight.

Amare is going to be rusty in second round if he gets back. Do you think Woody uses him as a bench offensive threat only and leaves KMart as Chandlers backup, playing KMart more minutes as a good defensive stopper and offensive rebounder. At this stage I’m not sure we need Amare’s production for the sake of significantly reduced defense?

I have no clue, thats why it really is going to be fascinating to see what Woodson does with the rotation come playoff time.

At this point though I will be fine with just having Chandler and KMart as bigs with Cope filling in here and there. Camby being able to give spot minutes when necessary would be great too against a team like Indiana.

But as I said earlier as long as Chandler and KMart are ready to go on Saturday I will be happy.

Amazing after the season that has transpired that I thought pre-play offs we would have some feeling of certainty about how well they will go but alas the last 12 years of stink sits at the bottom of my stomach reminding me that anything can happen. I think the Boston series will be tough because its Boston but we should still get out of there in 6 games max. If we then see Indiana then we need bodies to bang with them and I agree I’ll be happy with just KMart and Chandler but great if Camby can throw some minutes in there. I kinda hope Woody takes a conservative approach with Amare coming back and plays him sparingly ensuring he doesnt ruin chemistry and I think if Sheed can give the team 15 minutes a game come the Conference Finals (if we make it that far) then it might be enough to push Miami to 7 games. the Post Season is going to be HUGE!

  23. gmoney_nz

Good that Novak got some good burn on that trey shot in this game – we need him getting reps these last two games

im fine with no amare in the playoffs. i dont think we really need his offesne, as it seems to disrupt our natural flow of offense at time, and i def dont want his defense out there. sad to say, but i trust k-mart way more than our max player. im not sure i wouldnt rather go small when k-mart/ chandler need rests

  25. jon abbey

I like Amar’e but I really hope he is not ready/doesn’t get any minutes in these playoffs.

and Sheed and Camby are nice emergency guys, but Chandler and Martin are the only bigs we need, as Al said.

Looks like Utah is going to make the Lakers win their way into the playoffs. The Rockets have a chance to move to #6, so that last game against the Lakers will be tough for L.A. to win. However, Memphis is also still in “need to win” mode for playoff positioning, so that will be a tough match for Utah in the final game.

Denver, meanwhile, is in a close game in Milwaukee. Denver lost Faried, as well! Talk about walking wounded! If Denver wins, I believe they clinch the #4 seed. If they lose, though, they could finish as low as 5th.

    Still a lot of intrigue!

Ellis just made a go-ahead four-point play for the Bucks! The Nuggets have the ball down 1 with 14 seconds left. Man, the Bucks’ announcers suck, too.
