Curry carries Warriors into meeting with Knicks

NEW YORK — After one of the most stunning performances of his brilliant career — a 51-point night on 15-of-24 field-goal shooting, 11-of-16 from 3-point range and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line — what can Stephen Curry possibly do for an encore?

    Well, he’s starting.

Mitchell-Vonleh-Dotson-Timmy-Frank is an interesting group to tackle the best team of all time

Starting point guard Frank! I imagine it’s not going to be pretty at first, but glad to see Fiz is willing to try. (Even as he couched it as “I want to see him in a lot of different capacities and see which fits him the best.”)

Not surprised Trey is sitting in this new configuration. A bit surprised that Kanter is, but he was as much of a defensive culprit in that Miami disaster as Trey was. As it is, his best role in today’s NBA is as a big man who comes off the bench to destroy other team’s second unit.

It’s definitely a bit surprising to see Kanter sit. The other guys make sense.

It looks like we’re trying to put out our best defensive unit plus also Tim Hardaway. At least Fiz is willing to experiment

But it seems weird to consider MitchRob as one of the team’s best defenders already when he can’t stay on the court for more than a few minutes.

I feel like Ernie Hudson at the end of Ghostbusters when he screams I love this town…I love this line up!

“..our best defensive lineup plus also Tim Hardaway” – Ha. I could be wrong but that sounds a lot like a diss. Very Accurate, but a diss nonetheless.

This could get ugly in a hurry. Over/under on points Curry will score? I’ll go with 38 as he’ll probably sit most if not all of the 4th quarter.

can’t believe lance lost his starting job already

He’s much more valuable coming off the bench and providing instant offense

    +1

And Fix is thinking outside of the box, for sure. I can’t think of another coach that would have benched Kanter. Even with Kanter being lousy in Miami. Frank is going to have to and score a bit, because otherwise it is just THJ and Dotson.

He’s much more valuable coming off the bench and providing instant offense

    is this a real opinion

Jack, you were doing great and then you blew your rhyme scheme in the last stanza. Why not write “over/under on points scored by curry?”

(J.D may be calling you soon to write some lyrics for the Straight Shot:)

I am glad to see Fiz is keeping his word. Not many coaches would have had the guts to make these changes so early in the season.

The Warriors players aren’t going to know who at least half the guys they’re playing against are-that’s got to be an advantage.

I like this lineup, too. I mean, they’re going to lose badly, so try some stuff out.

Guys like Katner, Timmy, and Burke are really better off as bench scorers. Problem is, you don’t need all three of them to do that…
    🙂

I was at this game with my son and had great seats. I was truly in awe of his performance, and my best recollection is the way the crowd kept oohing and aahing every time he nailed a shot. Felton with a great block on Steph put it in the W column. Great dad/son moment! Who knew it would be so fleeting? Who knew that that was the dawn of a dynasty?

My buddy is still like “why the fuck did I give you those?!”

    Glory or Purgatory

    I love it

I’m not sure what felt like it took longer: Dotson’s hangtime or Vonleh’s shooting form.

My buddy is still like “why the fuck did I give you those?!”

    Controversial Kiss Cam buddy??

For those who think this is sustainable: it’s not.

We’re about to find out the answer to the non-paradoxical question that has baffled no one: What happens when an unstoppable force meets a thoroughly movable object?

    Warriors @ Knicks

That is a pretty goddamn big frontcourt right now.

Im thinking maybe Steve Kerr and Jamal Crawford as the answer to the trivia question (what players other than Curry have multiple games with double digit three pointers made)

Scott Foster throwing out Cousins in street clothes. This is where the Haralabob twitter loss really hurts.

I get the feeling that a well intentioned Lance pulled Dotson aside just before tip off and said just do what I do.

He’s much more valuable coming off the bench and providing instant offense

    Nah

something looks off with Draymond. No way the Draymond I know let’s Hezonja get that shot off without fading

Kanter has zero sulk in him. Benched for a couple of back bench guys and comes in full throttle.

I think it’s Klay and JR Smith

thanks milo…still at work – but, i was wondering how kanter would react to coming off the bench…

okay then – back up kanter gets 13 mil at 3 years? 🙂

I lose my connection and when I finally get it back, Hardaway is on the floor. What happened?

I know it’s easy to say in hindsight, but moving Frank last year while he still had perceived value might have been a prudent move.

If anyone has footage of KD taking a bad shot attempt, as in one that does not look wet as soon as its released, I’d like to see it.

    Dred, you were right

I know it’s easy to say in hindsight, but moving Frank last year while he still had perceived value might have been a prudent move.

I don’t even hate the sentiment but what the hell about this game made you think that???

Words I thought I wouldn’t say this season: The Knicks played a good defensive half against the Warriors.

I know it’s easy to say in hindsight, but moving Frank last year while he still had perceived value might have been a prudent move.

I don’t even hate the sentiment but what the hell about this game made you think that???

LOL I know, he had a couple of bad turnovers early and I was just feeling pissy.

If anyone has footage of KD taking a bad shot attempt, as in one that does not look wet as soon as its released, I’d like to see it.

Man, that is so true, when his shots don’t go in you’re shocked

The weirdest thing about that half is Mitch playing completely within himself, doing nothing stupid, but not being nearly active enough on either end. It would be like Timmy passing up too many open 27 footers or Lance getting ejected in street clothes.

I mean, I get that there’s 90-0 run coming but this has been a great game and it’s not really because the warriors are sucking it up

Vonleh has plenty of flaws, but I really like the way he plays. Reminds me a little bit of Oak.

It’s a pity about that sexual assault because I’d be pretty in to Dotson otherwise. He’s balling…

Game 5. Lots of bad times left. But…dang, is it nice to see this.

I know this ain’t college ball, but MSG security should let the fans rush the court if we win this one.

I think Fiz has a random lineup generator on his phone

And yet I feel more comfortable knowing that than with any of our previous coaches choosing lineups.

How many times do they have to knock Burke down before they call a foul?

Good bit on Twitter about how the knicks should get to keep KD if they win this one.

I guess Fizdale really wants a look at everyone in high pressure situations. Hard to criticize that.

I was about to ask if Kanter is a GS mole, or just putting the tank commander gear into overdrive.

God dammit. No accountability. How many stupid things can u do before you get yanked in the nba

Lance Thomas really serves no purpose on the court except taking minutes from a more talented player.

Fiz let that linger a bit too long. I’m afraid the scales are tipped now. Other than the score suggesting so

And mysteriously, the combo of Burke, Hezonja, and Kanter couldn’t guard Steph and KD.

I think Fiz has been pretty consistent with the rotations actually. He plays the starters 8-10 minutes, the backups 8-10 minutes, and then the starters the rest of each half for the most part.

Yeah, Fizdale took way too long to make moves, this lineup is not working… but on the other hand how can you really stop Durant when he’s playing like this.

I’m mean, if they are tanking, that’s fine. But you really don’t need to tank vs. GS. Just get the starters (who all had a + for the night so far), back in there after the lead was lost.

Durant is nearly unstoppable. I get that. But wouldn’t you want try a few different things. Make some moves. Game is In the balance. Sadness.

Timmy out of control and Durant is really unstoppable. Not a good combination for the home team.

I know I know, we want to tank, they’re the Warriors and so on…

But we lead 94-93 and then we melted away, just as we did vs Milwaukee (tied at 110) and Miami in the second quarter.

Fiz is doing a good job but he’s been repeatedly too slow in reacting to this waves… You can’t manage lineups by the clock, expecially in the fourth.

35-6 in the last seven minutes.
    Shame on them.

    P.S. I’m too angry now to talk about the good things… That’s Farfa’s job… 🙂

Fizdale removed Frank with 6 minutes left in the third quarter and he didn’t put him back until around 6 minutes left in the fourth as the rout began. I dunno know. Its not like Trier or Lance couldn’t be substituted.

This “recognition” of Lance has to end. He just isn’t good enough to play more than a few minutes a game, even on this team.

Look, the Knicks gave the fans about 3 1/2 quarters of entertaining basketball. They were always going to lose this game, so whether it was by 10 or 30, really, what’s the difference?

I mean, I guess Fiz should have gone with the starters longer, but we suck and that’s maybe the best basketball team of all time, so we weren’t going to win anyway. We played pretty well most of the game and Kevin Durant did some amazing stuff.

Dudes on the team need to look for Mitchell rolling to the hoop more

I can’t question Fiz at all re: this game. It was as competitive as I could have hoped for and he shook up the “starters.”

If we don’t win at least 3 0f the next 6, we will have trouble cracking the 20 win mark…
