I watched his highlight video, and I'm impressed. Don't get me wrong, I know highlight vids don't mean much, but he made some really excellent midrange shots and seems to have a nice touch. Funny, it didn't include many passes, and ESPECIALLY lacked in rebounds and defense. Am I wary? After nearly ten years of sh*t, yes. Yes I am. But I can live with this pick -- provided D. Lee stays in blue and orange.

i was hoping we could get one of those second rounders when cdr and chalmers were still on the board chalmers was a flat out steal where he went (i think 36?) anyway i dont understand why people dont want felton, hes not a horrible shooter (41%), and he averaged 15 and 7 last year. hes young and hes quick. He does make more money for lee soi think lee and a second rounder for felton and a first rounder is fair, plus i do think lee is a better player. This trade makes a whole lotta sense for both teams, we need a speedy point guard and lee doesnt fit in dantonis system at all while the bobcats have too many guards, including augustine and they need some more rebounders to help out okafor.

"What about NENE in 2002? How low profile can you be when they take you 7th?"

Cause everyone knew they were drafting for the Nuggets. Vecsey announced the trade (I believe to lusty booing from Knicks fans, IIRC) before the 1st pick was made. So, they weren't drafting Nene in any real sense.

Ford says...

"Those who are bashing the pick because Gallinari is a project should do their homework. Gallinari was the team leader on an Italian Euroleague team -- and the Euroleague is much more competitive than the NCAA. Euroleague teams scrimmage NBA teams in the preseason and beat them from time to time. The fact that Gallinari has starred there at such a young age suggests that he's more ready than most of the freshmen rushing into the league. And with Mike D'Antoni coaching him, you can bet the Knicks will play to his strengths."

Alot of people booed the Balkman pick, but by mid season he had won some folks over.

Chad Ford on the Knicks draft

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=DraftGrades-080627

"New York Knicks Grade: A-

Round 1: Danilo Gallinari (6)

Round 2: None

Analysis: With the Knicks' three favorite backcourt players gone -- Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo and Russell Westbrook -- new Knicks president Donnie Walsh did the right thing.

Gallinari is a talent and one of the few guys in the draft who could really be special someday. Those who are bashing the pick because Gallinari is a project should do their homework. Gallinari was the team leader on an Italian Euroleague team -- and the Euroleague is much more competitive than the NCAA. Gallinari has weaknesses -- he has so-so lateral quickness and lacks muscle. I'm not sure he'll ever turn into Dirk Nowitzki, to whom he's been compared. And the Knicks still have a long way to go in the rebuilding process.

But this was a good start for the Knicks. If they can use David Lee to get a legit young point guard, they'll keep moving in the right direction."

I'm coming around on this a little bit. I wonder if Isiah drafted him if he'd be getting the same kind of reviews...

Agree on Nets....I was surprised Charlotte didn't take Lopez instead of Augustin. Tells you how poorly they think of Felton btw...we don't want him.

Clubs with new interesting line-ups: Portland, Minnesota, Indiana, Toronto, Nets.

I'm not sure Milwaukee has the right pieces though it looks like they are trying for "win now."

YEah that is important to remember that at 6 we were very unlikely to find an answer to most of our woes but would get an very important piece. I think thats what he may be here. I still wish Zach were gone along with Jerome and Jeffries. I hope some how we can ge Conley b/c that would be a nice add for us. By the way the Nets did a Phenomenal job in the draft. Lopez and CDR plus the kid from Cal. Excellent job. I think their lineup will be

Devon Harris
CDR
Vince
Yi
Lopez
