ESPN 5-on-5: Knicks-Heat

April 28th, 2012 by | @JPCavan | Comments | Permalink |

Over at the Mothership, Tom Haberstroh, Jared Zwerling, Mike Wallace, Brian Windhosrt and I offered our opines on five key questions for the series.

With the quick turnaround from end-of-season to today, this is probably all the preview we’ll have to offer. The good news is tip-off’s less than four hours away!

Where the heck is everyone? I want to talk Knicks!

One thing that will really annoy me is if we see Tyson on Bosh to start. I think drawing him away from the basket is a bad idea. I mentioned it a week ago. He needs to roam. Amare can handle Bosh at 16 feet and in.

Saw this tweet on ESPN and it sent shivers up my spine:

“If I was Spoelstra and I saw Mike Bibby on the floor at any given time this series, I’d go with Wade-LeBron backcourt and watch Woodson cry.”

I think we need STAT to at least start out on Bosh as you said….and at the very least cancel him out, Melo offset Lebron, and hope to slow down Wade while our bench outplays Miami’s bench….a lot to ask for but doable, at least for 2 games to extend series to 6 or so and hope LBJ chokes the series away….

I would prefer to let Bosh shoot outside elbow jumpers (assuming STAT on him) than to have LBJ and Wade rum amuck down low, scoring in the paint, getting our players in foul trouble….better to have Tyson down low to guard the paint than to have him outside on Bosh.

I heard this morning that Miami planning to start Bosh at the 5 and Haslem as a 4 (with Joel Anthony coming off the bench), trying to force Tyson to guard Bosh.

I’d still put TC on Haslem. Don’t fall for that nonsense. Plus if they start those 2 we should kill them inside on the other end w Melo, Amare and TC

Man I hope the Bulls destroy the sixers for tanking to get them and having the nerve to actually admit to it. Put up or shut up Turner.

    Not bitter or anything…

Yeah. I liked the Bulls matchup better bc I dont think Rose is 100% but I liked the fact that we kept the winning feeling. BUT I will say that if it comes down to late in the series, late in games I feel good about us against either.

By not tanking we screwed the Rockets! (or at least gave them a worse pick by one slot:)

I have the kiddie sports to go to this afternoon. Thank God for DVRs. My optimistic take is Knicks in 6 with Melo going all Bernard King and LeBron conjuring up memories (real or mythologized) of Scottie Pippen against X-Man, while Shump lints Wade, Amare and Tyson outdo Bosh and whoever and the bench comes up big. Go Knicks!
