JR Sec 112: Actually, Melo, Billups, and Amare were the difference.Cause thats what happens when you have 3 guys you have to guard and look to double team. A fourth guy falls through the cracks and kills you.Like Douglas’ offensive board late – thats freed up by bogut having to move out far from the basket to look for Melo.And he had to do that cause the last time they didnt double, he went right by someone (salmons?) for an easy dunk.And they cant bring the guard down to double cause that leaves Billups open.It all makes sense.Which is why you go out and get that lethal scorer.I maintain my prior assessment that in 3 years everyone will look at this deal like it was a steal for the Knicks.Amazingly, this team is one decent rebounder/defensive minded big away from legitimately being a contender for the NBA Championship.

flynn had surgery to repair a tear in his hip labrum this past summer. the labrum is cartilage that lines and rims the acetabulum where the femoral head fits into the hip socket. it’s a pretty big deal for a guy that makes his living changing direction with explosion.

a-rod had a similar procedure in the winter of 2009 and look how much range he has lost moving to his left.

Ah well, they’re undefeated so far.

One takeaway from tonight – sometimes we forget – basketball is not football. Set plays and game planning are way overrated. Yes, some practice time will help smooth things out but this game isn’t rocket science.

Not ready to call the Knicks a contender, tho :)
