2017-18 Game Thread: Knicks @ Thunder

Here we are, the first game of the new NBA season! This whole “starting the season 10 days early” thing is legitimately a good idea, but it’s so odd to see the season starting so soon.

In any event, hilariously enough, the Knicks get to face their former teammate, Carmelo Anthony, for the first time since they traded him…in the first game of the season!! Timing can be such an odd thing.

Honestly, in a lot of ways, the thing that I’m most fearful for tonight is that a Knick injures himself. We’ve already seen Gordon Hayward and Jeremy Lin, two of the more fun players in the NBA, both suffer season-ending (and in Lin’s case, possibly career-ending) injuries in their team’s first games, so hopefully the Knicks are all wrapped in bubble wrap tonight. No severe injuries, fellas!

It will be nice to not be too bummed about losses, as the top picks of the draft are so good that having a really bad team this season could be very useful to the future of this team, but hey, if they surprise some folks, I don’t mind that, either. The issue isn’t about actively trying to lose, it’s about setting the team up for the future and if Ntilinka shows up and is awesome and Porzingis and Hernangomez take big strides, that’s a GOOD thing and it will be well worth a drop in the draft spot, even with such awesome top guys at the top of the draft in 2018.

With that in mind, then, I can say, with all honesty, let’s go Knicks!

Knicks will start:
Sessions PG
Hardaway Jr. SG
Lee SF
Porzingis PF
Kanter C

Thunder will start:
Westbrook PG
Roberson SG
George SF
Melo PF
Adams C

  1. stratomatic says you can't play defense if you keep getting players than can't defend

Let’s all wish the Knicks a healthy and successful season!

  2. Bruno Almeida

Let’s go! Of course Melo with the hoodie in warm up, you cant make this thing up hahaha. He might score like 40 in 28 shots today.

  3. BigBlueAL

I take a break from the Yankees to watch the Knicks tonight. You can’t possibly be die-hard fans of 2 totally opposite franchises lol.

  4. er

I like those 2 and the goddamn Raiders smh. Yankees giving me life….can’t wait for NY vs LA in the world series…I’ve never seen one in my lifetime…..anywhoo back to the bockers

  5. llcoolbp

Try being a mets fan, a Giants fan, and a Knicks fan. It’s been a rough year for me. Having said that let’s go Knicks! Fuck hoodie Melo!

  6. Bruno Almeida

    @8

That’s me, also… and my soccer team in Brazil is having it’s worse season probably ever, to help.

  7. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Doug is gonna McBucket so hard tonight you’ll all regret the day you doubted Doug could McBucket.

  8. Knick fan not in NJ at this time

Shaq was the commetator with the most reasonable comments about the Knicks!

  9. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Kanter can’t start over Willy unless we want to be the worst defensive rebounding team in the league.

  10. stratomatic says you can't play defense if you keep getting players than can't defend

We can’t go small with Lee unless KP/Kanter do some rebounding.

  11. Bruno Almeida

I can’t describe the feeling of not seeing Melo suck with the Knicks, damn.

Blocked, airball, missed dunk… It’s the season of knee-jerk reactions!

  12. Owen

    So glad Melo is gone.

I don’t think this three headed best in OKC will work. Too much duplication.

  13. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Lance Thomas does not deserve to be the first man off the bench bro. McDermott and Beasley are way better than him.

  14. Knick fan not in NJ at this time

I can’t stay and watch more, but so far, I would say the Thunder are getting good shots and missing many of them and the Knicks are getting lousy shots and making enough of them that the game is tied.

  15. GoNyGoNyGo

    @5

I like those 2 and the goddamn Raiders smh. Yankees giving me life….can’t wait for NY vs LA in the world series…I’ve never seen one in my lifetime…..anywhoo back to the bockers

    2009 – Matsui 6 RBI vs Phillies
1996 – Girardi triples. Boggs riding on police horse after defeating Maddox and Braves.
1977 – Mr October hits 3 HRs vs Dodgers.
I was in the stands for all three of these clinching games, but I’m old :)

Knicks are playing hard. They won’t win, but it’s good to see some heart to start.

  16. Bruno Almeida

I knew it, 8 minutes and I already hate Hornacek’s rotations. How the hell does this make sense?????

  17. ptmilo

not that it matters, but you cannot play a front court of kanter mcd and lance. Not for one minute. Makes me worry about hornacek.

  18. GoNyGoNyGo

Kanter gives up the ball and then fails to defend the paint on Westbrook. How much of this are we going to see this year?

  19. ClashFan

I hate the rotations, too, but they will and should give LT some time to try to trade him. But, yeah, first guy off the bench??

  20. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Definitely hate Hornacek’s rotations. Why on earth do you put in the worst two players in your rotation first? Baker and Thomas shouldn’t be in the league.

  21. er

Lol I said that his first season his rotations suck.

Re KP he still looks lost as fuck on offense. Guys I think he’s a number 2 in this league

Re Melo: he looks pretty good. He’s playing an agile 7’3 guy but he blew by him twice but KPS length made up for it and altered the rim attacks.

  22. DRed

    Sit Kanter.

Re KP he still looks lost as fuck on offense. Guys I think he’s a number 2 in this league

    It’s the first game

  23. DRed

Not sure why they didn’t call timeout when Beasley couldn’t walk, but that was a nice p-n-r with Baker & Kyle

  24. GoNyGoNyGo

    @52 – good question!
The NBA cut time outs from 18 to 12 a game. Teams are going to hoard time outs.

  25. Owen

So many fouls for moving screens. I hear they tweaked the rule and are looking to make it a point of emphasis….

  26. The Glass Half Rebuilt

KP is locking Melo down. If he can keep up with perimeter oriented guys and lock down the paint? Wow.

  27. BigBlueAL

Baker can make some nice passes in the halfcourt but he is not a PG, can barely dribble the ball up the court when facing pressure.

  28. Owen

Great jumper from KP. He won the first round quite decisively.

Ron Baker not an NBA point guard. But he is adorable.

  29. ptmilo

the preseason rotation with willy not playing until well into q2 is a real thing and an obvious mistake by hornacek

  30. ClashFan

Not a terrible quarter, all things considered. The turnovers are frustrating b/c they were mostly lazy/sloppy.

The vets are going to play (showcasing), but LT should not be first off the bench. I don’t like Beasley, but I’m sad for him to get hurt so quickly.

Ron’s just not a PG. Why not get Frank in as soon as Felton came in?

  31. dtrickey

I am only following the box score on ESPN because I am at work, but the vibe I am getting from the comments is we are horrible, but only down 3 points after 1? Doesn’t seem so bad, but then again I am not watching live ha ha

  32. Bruno Almeida

Who knew, seems like hoodie Melo is just old Melo after all.

Frank and Willy being the last out of the bench in their positions is already getting me angry at Hornacek.

  33. er

KP is locking Melo down. If he can keep up with perimeter oriented guys and lock down the paint? Wow.

Did u miss him get blown by 3 times? More athetic 4s would have had 3 dunks

  34. ClashFan

    Guys,

LT, OQ, and Kanter are all going to get minutes. They’re being showcased. It is frustrating, but it is also probably inevitable.

  35. mase

Hornacek has defiantly tailored the offense around kp and he is delivering, not long before Willy finds his way

  36. The Glass Half Rebuilt

You gotta understand basketball to appreciate Frank’s game. You guys saw the way he quickly went under that screen? He recognizes Russ calls for the screen too high so he makes the right decision to play the drive and not give Russ the switch he wants there. That kinda stuff is impressive.

  37. ptmilo

He biggest change in TH2 so far is that he now whine every time someone doesn’t pass it to him instead of every other time

  38. thenoblefacehumper

Hahahahahaha welcome to the Melo experience, OKC.

Ron Baker is still Ron Baker.

Porzingis doing his early season tantalizing thing.

Play Willy and Frank right fucking now.

  39. BigBlueAL

You can be impressed by Frank going under a screen, I’m more impressed by DS Jr’s box score last night.

  40. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Don’t listen to Rambis, KP. And Jeff Hornacek deserves to be fired based solely on his insistence of playing Lance Thomas.

  41. Cock Jowles, #1 League-Average Superstar

Who was guarding George on that possession with the missed bank shot?

  42. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Defensively it’s a huge problem that KP is on the perimeter and Kanter is in the paint. We’re taking KP out of the way by ourselves.

  43. The Glass Half Rebuilt

I haven’t seen Melo jab step once this game. If you don’t believe he’ll be a different player this year then you’re mistaken. I don’t know if that means he will be more productive, but I do know he won’t have the same shot chart. I’m watching Carmelo legit get out of the way of offense.

And watching Enes Kanter makes me appreciate defensive rebounding on a new level.

  44. mase

    Yep

No Willy is madness… that’s the logjam in effect, kanter and Koq do the same job Willy does but willly does it better

  45. The Glass Half Rebuilt

If we suck this year, it’s imperative we draft Michael Porter Jr. so he can occupy the 4 and KP can get the 5.

  46. ClashFan

No question, Willy should be starting and Kanter off the bench. He can be showcased just fine off the bench. Hopefully starting Kanter here was just a nod to honor him at his old home.

  47. Cock Jowles, #1 League-Average Superstar

I hate to break it to the Porzingis fanboys, but Porzingis looked like Bargnani on that possession.

  48. dtrickey

No question, Willy should be starting and Kanter off the bench. He can be showcased just fine off the bench. Hopefully starting Kanter here was just a nod to honor him at his old home.

Getting the Larry Brown treatment? If I know my geography, I am pretty sure Oklahoma is a fair way from Turkey.

  49. ess-dog

Man, Russ is really such an advantage. He’s so fast and strong he just has to barrel to the basket and then kick it backwards to create space. That’s really there #1 “play”.

  50. Bruno Almeida

Melo has been the same, inefficient and absent on every other category outside points. He’s just playing like he gives a fuck, so he looks better of course than how he looked completely checked out with the Knicks.

  51. cgreene

Seriously let Kanter chase Melo on the perimeter. Who cares. Keep KP in the paint on D and have him help off Adams

  52. vincoug

KP has looked really good so far. Needs to be playing in the paint on defense; don’t understand why we have him out in the perimeter with Kanter in the paint. Hornacek’s rotations have been fucking stupid. Paying THJr $18M/year is insanely fucking stupid.

  53. Bruno Almeida

Horny is also showing so far that the talk of playing the youngest guys and not compromising the future for wins now is obviously bullshit. He’s coaching for his job security out there.

  54. er

That was a fun first half. The Knicks played hard, but the guard play is atrocious. KP is a man on an island with a sprinkle of hardaway

  55. DRed

Okay half that really fell apart at the end. Kristaps has 19 points on 14 shots and 9 rebounds. Otherwise I’m not really seeing any positives. Baker was okay on defense. Thomas played 12 minutes and managed 2 missed shots, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 turnover. I don’t know why we bother we him.

Doug McDermott the only Knick with more than 1 assist is a huge problem.

  56. er

Melo has been the same, inefficient and absent on every other category outside points.

He’s literally being guarded by a center…u expect rebounds lol ok. He was brought there to score and if he hit his open shots he would have had over 20 in the first half. He has actually looked good on defense and dishing

  57. The Glass Half Rebuilt

@132, sir I beg to differ. Anybody who has Ron Baker and Lance Thomas as his first two guys off the bench clearly cares nothing about job security.

  58. er

Seriously let Kanter chase Melo on the perimeter. Who cares. Keep KP in the paint on D and have him help off Adams

    That’s what i was saying in the offseason. He’s a 5

  59. er

@133 the thunder have played good defense. The Knicks especially KP has hit some tough ones. Hardaway and Lee have hit some contested 3s as well. The announcers were talking about the Knicks d…it wasn’t really that good. Okc shot horribly with about 5 shots missed at the rim.

  60. Bruno Almeida

    @139

Hahahahaha well, I have to agree with you.

I fully expected the Knicks to get blown out easily, so its been nice to see KP slicing and dicing.

    @137

As a starting PF he has 0 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 fouls and 1 turnover in 19 minutes. 15 points on 13 shots. The homerism is strong on this one. If he hit his shots he would have been efficient, which did not happen.

  61. ClashFan

    @141
And 1/4 from the field. Ron’s just not a backup PG (more of a 4th guard), but they’re paying him as if he was a lottery pick.

  62. er

I wanna see some kinda fucking movement on offense tho. Melo was blamed before, what’s the reason now?

  63. GoNyGoNyGo

When you look at the matchups in this game you might say that we have some sort of answer to match up with Anthony and George but we have no answer for Westbrook.

  64. ptmilo

my take on the half is that it was way worse than the score. KP played well on offense, KOQ played well on both ends, but overall we looked at least as bad as expected. We barely run plays. That one baker/KOQ pnr was like the closest thing to a good set we had all half.

  65. er

As a starting PF he has 0 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 fouls and 1 turnover in 19 minutes. 15 points on 13 shots. The homerism is strong on this one. If he hit his shots he would have been efficient, which did not happen.

I’m not being a Homer those are facts. He and George missed a ton of open looks. They weren’t forced. As far as rebounds, the Knicks have played big and we’ll melo ain’t a big.

  66. Ben R

That was a great 1st half. OKC is a top 4 team in the league and we played them well. Our offense will look better against worst defensive teams, OKC is top 2 or 3 defensively. Our defense looks pretty passable, good movement and overall not too many huge errors. KP looks like a beast so far.

Adams is eating Kanter’s lunch. He is not effective in this matchup. He will be in other games but not tonight. Play Willy and O’Quinn, or go small.

  67. ClashFan

    @151
I wish I could agree. It was a very sloppy half, and if OKC gets its act together in the 2nd half, the blowout will be on.

Kanter should not be starting. I think we all agree on that. And LT should get 10-12 minutes per game max, not per half. McD should get those minutes.

  68. The Glass Half Rebuilt

If Sessions is just going to turn the ball over like that then we might as well start Frank.

AND WE’RE LOSING THE FREE THROW ATTEMPTS BATTLE 19-4.

  69. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Wow. Kanter truly is unplayable. He’s a black hole offensively and defensively he’s a double zero.

  70. Bruno Almeida

    #freewilly

The fact that Kanter is playing so many minutes ahead of him is just ridiculous.

  71. er

The willy thing is stunning to me. The stage might be too big for Frank tonight and that’s fine, but what the fuck? Willy was first team rookie for a reason. #Fire Hornachek

  72. thenoblefacehumper

Kanter has some skills but his tunnel vision rivals Melo’s.

No Willy is beyond absurd. Totally incompetent.

  73. ess-dog

Sessions is playing Russell as well as anyone can. Kanter is just awful on both sides.

    Horny could maybe play Dotson?

Hardaway, KP, O’Quinn and Baker are the only players showing some promise.

  74. hornyKnickfan

I saw a clip of Horny talking to WHG in the preseason. Horny asked him what he did well and WHG said rebounding and interior scoring. Then Horny told him to go do that. I kid you not.

  75. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Nah Hornacek can’t make it to the new year or Lance Thomas can’t be in the rotation by the new year.

  76. Bruno Almeida

Baker and Thomas are not NBA players, period. The amount of minutes they’re playing is stupid, who are you showcasing Lance for? The Beijing Ducks?

Willy still tied to the bench, Melo still old Melo.

  77. DRed

Kanter can bully a lot of dudes in the NBA in the post, but it looks like Adams is not one of them, so he really shouldn’t have come out in the second half. If he’s not getting buckets you got to bench him.

  78. stratomatic says you can't play defense if you keep getting players than can't defend

Porzingis is such frustrating guy. He was showing some good poise, new moves, rebounding, and had me thinking he had made significant progress. Then he immediately reverted back to panicked and poor shot selection. Now I feel he’s still where he left off in that he plays really well in stretches but can’t put it all together for an entire game. The talent is there, but he’s still very raw.

  79. ClashFan

    @183

Kanter can bully a lot of dudes in the NBA in the post, but it looks like Adams is not one of them, so he really shouldn’t have come out in the second half. If he’s not getting buckets you got to bench him.

    Absolutely!

  80. dtrickey

Given most on this board predicted win totals in the 20’s for the season, surely everyone expected nights like this?

  81. thenoblefacehumper

It is downright hilarious that the Knicks actually gave Ron Baker a real NBA contract. This is going to spiral into a sunk cost fallacy shit show at the expense of semi-watchable basketball.

  82. ClashFan

    @193
Agreed, but did we really expect a DNP (so far) for Willy? Almost no minutes for Frank? I’m willing to lose, but the kids need to play.

  83. ess-dog

Young players are just really inconsistent. Remember how bummed Washington was on Wall and Beal at first? It took them a while, but now they are close to dominant.

  84. dtrickey

    @196

The lack of WHG and Frank is surprising. WHG more than anything given how he played last season.

  85. Bruno Almeida

    @196

Exactly. I don’t care about losing, I care about losing with the youngest players on this team playing like 4 minutes in a 20 point loss.

  86. Early Bird

    A) Ron Baker should not have an NBA contract
    B) Ron Baker will be our starting pg at some point this year
    C) Ron Baker may be the best PG on our roster.
    D) All the above

  87. stratomatic says you can't play defense if you keep getting players than can't defend

If we aren’t going to play Hernangomez (which is idiotic) Noah should be the starting C, not Kanter.

  88. er

This reminds me of the jeremy lin year. Remember Tony Douglas….he’s probably better than these guys now lmao

  89. DRed

If Baker shot like he should on his FT’s he’d have something like 7 points on 2 FGAs, 3 assists, 3 TOVs, 3 steals in 16 minutes. That’s not great, but it’s better than Sessions sucking on offense and defense. Gotta cut down on the TOs though.

  90. thenoblefacehumper

It sucks to not see Frank but I can understand not wanting him to get eaten alive in his first NBA game. Not playing Willy is awful primarily because it makes me think the Knicks have no idea what they have in him.

  91. ess-dog

Maybe they can just leave Kanter in OKC? And yeah, I think Baker will be the starting point in a week or two, which is batshit crazy.

  92. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Start Frank and let Ron Baker coach. I’ll give TH2 a pass since the Thunder probably have the best defensive wings in the league, but he better light some shit up very soon.

  93. Will the Thrill

I thought Baker’s defense looked really good…but offensively he’s almost unplayable. Also Ntilikina looked completely overwhelmed and scared, but understandable (hopefully not another Jerian Grant situation).

  94. Will the Thrill

Willy should also be starting and playing more minutes than Kanter. I don’t know what the fuck Horny is thinking.

  95. The Glass Half Rebuilt

If the Knicks started anybody but Sessions and Kanter this would have been a closer game.

  96. DRed

I mean Baker isn’t exactly steph curry but did you watch Ramon Sessions and Frank tonight? One game is too soon to punt on Sessions but we need to start looking for another PG on the scrap heap/G-leauge

  97. Bruno Almeida

Jerian Grant, by the way, had 7 assists and two turnovers for the Bulls against the Raptors today. Thanks Phil!

  98. ClashFan

    Quick Grades:
    Pts. / Shots Grade Notes

    THJ 8 / 10 F… 0 Reb, 2 TO. Pretty awful. 5 fouls, also.
KP 31 / 25 A… 12 Reb. Not quite an A+, but an encouraging game.
    Kanter 10 / 10 D… 7 Reb. Dude just can’t defend. He’s clueless out there.
    Lee 9 / 9 C… 3 assists, 2 TO.
    Sessions 3 / 3 F… 1 assist, 3 TO. Is he really this bad?

    LT 2 / 4 F… 3 Reb, 2 TO, 4 fouls. First guy off the bench?
    McD 4 / 5 C-… 3 Reb, 4 assists.
    Baker 6 / 3 D… 4 assists, 4 TO, 3 steals. Missed 4/7 foul shots.
    Beasley 2 / 1 INC…
OQ 6 / 5 B… 10 Reb. The only vet who helped his trade value.
    Frank 0 / 2 INC… Only 7 minutes. Shot 2 airballs.
    DD 0 / 1 INC…
    Willy 3 / 1 INC… Only 3 minutes?

Coaching: D. I know some will go F here, but it is only the first game. Willy needs to play at least 20 mpg. McD did get a lot more minutes in the 2nd half than LT, at least.

Edit, sorry about the formatting, but it was spaced better when I typed it.

  99. Clyde's suit

Wow, this was BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. Not having one competent point guard on the roster is going to hurt all year long. Frankie is going to need a lot of time. I saw nothing in his limited time on the court that made me think “special”.

Someone tell me why Baker is not only on the roster but making decent something above scrub money..

    Willie not getting burn, WTH?

OKC is going to have a good season.

  100. er

Russ might win mvp again simply because he letting melo and George take all the bad shots to boost his fg%. If he gets his turnovers down he could finish wit crazy numbers

Hornacek better stop playing the bad players over 25

  101. nicos

I’m really hoping that some of this was just the fact the OKC is going to be a really good defensive team- Westbrook looked more engaged on that end than he did the last couple of years and Roberson, George and Adams are all very good defenders. Then again, maybe the Knicks point guards are every bit as bad as they looked. If so, KP could make a real leap and the Knicks still could wind up with a great shot at the #1 pick. That actually might be the best case scenario but I fear unless somebody can get KP some easier looks he’ll be exhausted by early December again even if he’s in better shape than last year.

  102. d-mar

We’re going to lose most of our games this year anyway, so play the freakin guys who may have upside!!!(i.e. not Kanter, not Baker, not Thomas)

I really don’t know what Hornacek is thinking with his rotations.

  103. ClashFan

    @228
Good points. KP played 38 minutes tonight, and that is too many. It is a long season.

I do think that Kanter needs to play, but about 20 minutes off the bench. DRed made a really good point about OKC not being a good matchup for him. Willy not playing until garbage time is ridiculous.

Willy should be starting and get 20 for now (more later once Kanter or OQ is dealt). OQ can get some time, too, and at the 4 when KP sits.

I want LT off the team, too, but he should get 10-12 per game (he got 15 tonight) IF they think they can get a 2nd rounder for him later on. If not, put him end of bench.

  104. The Glass Half Rebuilt

I’m starting to believe KP can play well and we still win like 25 games. Hornacek’s rotations are dreadful enough to ensure that. 2,000 minutes from Baker and Thomas and boom. Top 3 pick and Michael Porter Jr

  105. Donnie Walsh

Because I only read this site and don’t actually watch the Knicks or follow them outside of y’alls comments, I drafted Hernangomez pretty high in my fantasy draft… Oof.

I guess it’s a case of living in the bubble. But you guys saying “I wouldn’t trade Willy H for the #1 pick in the draft” made me think he’d be getting at least 4 minutes of playing time per game!

  106. yellowboy90

Russ might win mvp again simply because he letting melo and George take all the bad shots to boost his fg%. If he gets his turnovers down he could finish wit crazy numbers

I didnt think Melo took too many bad shots. He missed a lot of 3s though and took a couple of bad shots but I think George tried to force things more than any which resulted in a lot of bad offenses until late in the game. The thing with George though is that he will get 10 to 12 easy points at tge line or in transition to boost his offense.

Also, I liked the rebounding by KP but he is a little too reckless out there on some of his put back attempts.

  107. Jack Bauer

It’s hard to tell if Frank is a good player when he plays all of 8 minutes.

Ron Baker and Lance Thomas are not good at basketball, at least not near NBA good.

First half unofficial stats by my count for NY 13 turnovers + 7 air balls – yikes !

KP had a very good game but that’s about it. This team looks pretty awful, hopefully bad enough for a top 3 pick. That would make it all worth it.

  108. Brian Cronin Post author

If so, KP could make a real leap and the Knicks still could wind up with a great shot at the #1 pick. That actually might be the best case scenario

That really would be the best case scenario. The problem, though, is that we’d want Willy to progress, as well, and how could KP take the leap and Willy progress and the team, as a whole, not improve?

  109. er

I didnt think Melo took too many bad shots. He missed a lot of 3s though and took a couple of bad shots but I think George tried to force things more than any which resulted in a lot of bad offenses until late in the game.

Yeah I think melo played well,he looked real good driving but KP is unfair being 7’3 and mobile. Young melo would have had 3 1st quarter dunks on KP. He just shot poorly and i think thats fine. What I meant about russ is that he forced no shots. I think 0, and he himself missed like 3 layups. Russ my have a crazy efficency season if he plays the way he did tonight looking to pass first and attack when he saw openings and still avg a triple double with 13+ assist per game. Imagine if George and/or melo was hot? He still finished with 16 assists

That really would be the best case scenario. The problem, though, is that we’d want Willy to progress, as well, and how could KP take the leap and Willy progress and the team, as a whole, not improve

Can you email the coach please?

But you guys saying “I wouldn’t trade Willy H for the #1 pick in the draft” made me think he’d be getting at least 4 minutes of playing time per game!

That got pretty ugly. KP was very promising, him becoming a star is the most important thing that can happen this season. Kanter will be a positive in many match ups but he is a negative in some as well, it is on our coaching staff to use him when he has the advantage and sit him when he doesn’t. Willy should probably play over O’Quinn but he has looked low energy all preseason. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but he hasn’t looked like the player he was last season.

I’m going to hold judgement on THJ because of the match up but tonight he was poor. Our PGs are terrible. The turnovers are mainly their fault. Frank looks far from ready and looks like he should probably spend most of this season in the d-league.

Thomas should play sparingly as a backup PF and Beasley should get his minutes when he’s healthy. McDermott should get most of the backup wing minutes.
