2012-13 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hawks

When you have a really bad loss (and last night’s game was probably the Knicks’ worst loss of the season) then it is sometimes a real boon to have a game the next day to get the taste of suck out of your mouth. This is hopefully the case tonight when the Knicks host the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have played well recently, but they’re dealing with the loss of Lou Williams, which hurt their chances a lot of making some real noise in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks have owned the Hawks in recent years. This is oddly the …continue reading

[ – New York Knicks] Notebook: Smith's slump a 'major concern' (Sun, 27 Jan 2013 00:24:34 EDT) PHILADELPHIA — J.R. Smith is in the midst of a miserable shooting slump. The Knicks’ sixth man missed all eight of his attempts on Saturday against Philly. In all, he’s missed 21 of his last 24 shots. Mike Woodson called Smith’s shooting slump a “major concern.” “J.R. is a big part of what we do on both ends of the floor. He didn’t even make a shot tonight (so we’ve) got to program him back to playing, Woodson said. “…. We’re going to …continue reading

New York Knicks 80 Final Recap | Box Score 97 Philadelphia 76ers Carmelo Anthony, SF 39 MIN | 9-28 FG | 7-8 FT | 9 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 25 PTS | -21 Here’s the shooting numberz for Melo’s last five outings: 9-25, 8-19, 11-29, 11-28 and 9-28. That’s…what’s the word…not good. We’re beyond the point where we can point to breakfast-cereal inspired fits of pique and/or weird, Biblical, fad diets. I get that he was pissed at the lack of whistles when he went to the rim, but dribbling …continue reading

2012-13 Game Thread: Knicks @ Sixers

Felton is back! And just when Prigioni was getting to be not so awful. It will be interesting to see whether Felton’s return–even in limited minutes–can help the Knicks find the offensive rhythm they had earlier in the season. I’m also going to pay close attention to how Felton and Shumpert play together since they comprise what really should be the team’s starting backcourt. The 76ers (17-25) are 2-8 in the last 10 games and are struggling mightily to find consistent scoring. They are 28th in offensive rating at 101.7 points per 100 possessions. The Hawes v. Chandler match up …continue reading
