Milwaukee Bucks 80 Final Recap | Box Score 89 New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony, SF 35 MIN | 8-20 FG | 12-12 FT | 12 REB | 1 AST | 28 PTS | +10 If ever there was a time for Melo to “get his,” as the young whippersnappers say, it was tonight. Save for his requisite, inexplicable bunny botches, Melo was pretty effective, particularly at drawing contact and getting to the line. He beasted the boards, looked more than accountable on D, and — if his teammates were anywhere near competent shooting a basketball — might’ve had a few …continue reading
Now is the spring of our discontent. The Knicks suffered a major blow today when they discovered that Amar’e Stoudemire has a bulging disc in his lower back. He is currently seeking a second opinion, but conservative estimates would have him back at the beginning of the playoffs at the earliest and there is no way of knowing what shape he will be in when he returns (or even if he returns in time at all). Jeremy Lin is also going to miss tonight’s game due to a sore knee. That seems less likely to be a major issue, though. …continue reading
Alan Hahn just tweeted: Amare Stoudemire is out indefinitely after MRI revealed a bulging disk in his lower back. If you open your window, you might hear the collective groan of the entire Knick fanbase right now. Plus, for added measure, Jeremy Lin is going to miss tonight’s game with a sore knee. What’s especially galling is that had this happened, like, yesterday, the Knicks might have had a shot at Boris Diaw. Annoying. Loving the Knicks…it’s fan-tastic!!
[New York Daily News] Amar’e aches are pain for Knicks (Mon, 26 Mar 2012 05:01:05 GMT) Bad backs and big men are always extremely dicey and that precarious position is exactly where the Knicks find themselves on Monday night â?? with their star big man suffering from a bad back and a huge game against Milwaukee at the Garden. [New York Daily News] Knicks know what’s at stake vs. Bucks (Mon, 26 Mar 2012 00:03:40 GMT) The trained and clichéd response is to say that every game is equally important. So it was interesting that one Knick after another refused …continue reading
[ESPN.com – New York Knicks] Championship ring, images inspire Knicks (Sun, 25 Mar 2012 01:23:25 EDT) NEW YORK — When Tyson Chandler became a Knick in early December, he did so because he believed the team had what it took to win a championship. For a player who was coming off of a title run with the Mavericks, he didn’t want to have it any other way. Even when the Knicks struggled in January, losing nine of 11 games, Chandler’s championship dreams with the Knicks didn’t fade away. At the time, Chandler said, “In all honestly, I still feel like …continue reading
Detroit Pistons 79 Final Recap | Box Score 101 New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony, SF 29 MIN | 5-12 FG | 5-6 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 15 PTS | +19 For our intrepid all-star, I offer this haiku from the noted 19th Century Japanese poet, Kobayashi Issa (Or just “Issa” to his bros) O snail Climb Mount Fuji, But slowly, slowly! In the first half, it looked like it’d be another game of laying serious mortar, but lo and behold. A few nice post-ups against the uber-ectomorphic Tayshawn Prince led to a classic mid-range step back …continue reading
I’ll actually be attending the game tonight with my wife (a Christmas present for a game back during Linsanity that I sold so we could attend multiple games for the price of the first tickets), so I figure I’d give you folks a nice and early Game Thread, just like how you like it! This is a big game (as all games are this time of the year when the team is two games under .500 and fighting for a playoff spot). The Bucks are playing their third game in three nights tonight before playing the Knicks on Monday. Hopefully …continue reading
