NYT: Under Woodson, Genuine Signs of Improvement

My latest endeavor at the New York Times delves into whether or not the Knicks are just on a lucky skid or have actually improved. (Hint: it’s not a lucky skid.) Just as important is how handily the Knicks have won those games. During Linsanity, New York won three games by 10 points or more, and none by more than 15. During this romp, New York has averaged an impressive margin of victory of 18.3 points, 10 points more than their …continue reading

Knicks Might Be Pretty Good, Say Numbers

Last night was many things: exhilarating, exciting, transcendant, illuminating…and also, the Knicks won! The shellacking the Knicks gave the Magic can only be described as a beat down.  The fact that the Magic are a very good team, widely discussed as being one of the teams most capable of defeating the Bulls or the Heat in a playoff series, made the win that much sweeter. That the Knicks could beat them so thoroughly despite missing two starters (and the primary backup to one of those starters) is impressive, and a little shocking. [ESPN.com – New York Knicks] Davis hamstring 'tight' on Wednesday (Thu, 29 Mar 2012 01:26:50 EDT) Baron Davis gave the Knicks 25 productive minutes against Orlando on Wednesday night. But there was a point in the second quarter when he thought his night might end early. “I was talking to the trainers. They were telling me, ‘Maybe this is not the game to try and push through and fight through.’ I was just determined,” Davis said. The veteran guard played with the pain in his right hamstring to score 11 points, grab seven rebounds and hand out six assists in …continue reading

Quick Reaction: Knicks 108, Magic 86

Orlando Magic 86 Final Recap | Box Score 108 New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony, SF 26 MIN | 9-15 FG | 5-6 FT | 5 REB | 6 AST | 25 PTS | +33 Oh, so THAT’s why you trade Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Ray Felton, Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry, Eddy Curry’s Food Per Diem and two of Clyde Frazier’s panda-skin suits get this guy. I shudder whenever Kelly Tripucka (or any other members of the smart set) start dissecting “body language” but, if only for the optics, it sure was fun to see Melo play angry. His …continue reading

[New York Post] Doc preaches patience with Knicks’ Stoudemire (Wed, 28 Mar 2012 03:59:49 -0500) The Knicks would be wise to have a conservative approach with ailing Amar’e Stoudemire and have him ready to go for the playoffs instead of rushing him back sooner, according to one medical expert on bulging disks.
