Irving didn’t even want to go at Shumpert when he was in the game, they let Parker bring the ball up.

you’re exaggerating or misunderstanding what I’m saying, obviously everyone gets beaten a certain percentage of the time, but the first unit needs more defense and the obvious move is to replace Fields with Shumpert. I don’t think even Landry’s mom would disagree that Shumpert is a far superior defender.

Come on jon, it’s not like people don’t get burned. For every great offensive player in the NBA, someone is getting burned. The idea that Kyrie Irving is going to be totally contained without double-teaming is not realistic. Look at Irving’s numbers, he does that to everyone.

yeah, Lin and Fields together starting the game on D is a recipe to let the other team’s guards get comfortable right away, no reason to allow that with the weapons now currently at our disposal.

jon abbey: not my point, my point continues to be that Fields is the 11th best player on this team and Shumpert is a way better fit to start at SG, his crazy effort along with Chandler would help compensate for Lin/Melo/Amare’s issues on D. D’Antoni agreed down the stretch tonight at least.

Didn't see any issues with Melo tonight defensively. Lin and Fields were the guys getting torched. Yes, Chandler picked everyone's energy up in the second half. But SHump struggled in that first half defensively as well. When Melo isn't overburdened on offense he's a plus defender. He was a plus defender tonight if we were to sit down and break it down. Amar'e wasn't awful. He was poor but not awful. The vast majority of Clevelands offense came from breaking down the guards.

They more than made up the three-point gap and they made more of their free throws. Exactly what I was hoping they would do at the half. Great win. How does Harrelson not get a little burn in this game, though? Not even a token appearance at the end? I was really hoping to see 11 guys play.

jon abbey: also, the Lin/Shumpert combo was what began to turn things at the end of the second quarter, cutting it from 17 to 12. Lin kept going to him, culminating in that sick driving dunk which woke everyone up.

From a purely out of context perspective (and maybe even in context), that dunk was the most exciting play of the game.
