On a side note, I think Hubie Brown is actually Meryl Streep’s skeleton

    Gamecockerbocker:
    Who’s guarding Kobe tonight?

Landry Fields, so I guess the answer is nobody.

Perhaps the Lin wine has gone to my head, but I think we’re going to win tonight.

    Z says:

Thomas B.: Landry Fields, so I guess the answer is nobody.

Fields actually guarded Kobe really well for a half of a game last year. (not saying correlation = causation… The second half didn’t go so well:(

HOLY SHIT YES, WHAT A FUCKING START, they’re playing great D TOO

  9. 9
    The Sominator says:

    Linbelievable. Keep it up Lin

  10. 10
    max fisher-cohen says:

Crazy start here. Fisher doesn’t want to get embarrassed at the rim, so he’s just letting Lin shoot. Really nice to see him knock them down.

I swear walker is one of the worst passers in the league. He just doesn’t have the opportunity to pass often enough for it to be so glaring.

  11. 11
    hotdamn says:

    WOW

  12. 12
    dogrufus says:

My God. I think Lin might have just converted me to Christianity.

How is this possible? How can he keep doing it? I keep expecting regression to the mean, but where is the mean?

    UnbeLinable.

  15. 15
    The Sominator says:

PnR is so deadly with Lin at the helm. Lin is making the Lakers pay

  16. 16
    taggart4800 says:

Melo came to the knicks to be the ‘MAN’ and win a championship. The beautiful irony this year would be that no-one would talk a second about Melo and his moment would belong to a 6’3” Asian kid from Harvard!
(Not for a second do I think we are winning it all, it would just be very poetic)

  17. 17
    Doug says:

    KILL STEVE BLAKE

  18. 18
    KnickInSeattle says:

Yeah that was an intentional hit by Blake.

  19. 19
    The Sominator says:

Great non-call ref, jeffries got nailed.

  20. 20
    TheXman says:

Lin getting no easy baskets at the rim, can he finish over Bynum and Pau?

  21. 21
    TheXman says:

Can anyone fucking shoot, jeezus christ

  22. 22
    TheXman says:

Steve Blake MVP for the Knicks so far

  23. 23
    Doug says:

Jeffries driving and thriving! Dogs and cats living together!

  24. 24
    ess-dog says:

Shumpert is just an awful shooter.

  25. 25
    Doug says:

Shump’s finishing tonight is a butt.

  26. 26
    max fisher-cohen says:

The Lakers look like the Knicks earlier this season. They’re missing open shots from the perimeter or forcing bad shots on the inside.

  27. 27
    The Sominator says:

Jeffries looking like a NBA player

  28. 28
    TheXman says:

Jeffries the jeffries at Indiana! Showing some offensive game!!

  29. 29
    jkhar says:

Can we start giving the Knicks D some credit now? We are so much more active this year…

  30. 30
    dogrufus says:

Shump can’t shoot or finish but 2 steals already, and better shot selection than before.

    I’ll take it.

  31. 31
    ess-dog says:

    lincredible

  32. 32
    Doug says:

Steve Blake is trying to all but shank Lin on defense. Someone should foul him. Hard.

  33. 33
    ess-dog says:

    classic kobe touch call

  34. 34
    TheXman says:

Not very pretty there Lin looking out of control when things are getting physical, he just needs some fucking help. Shump needs to play 2 guard, Landry at SF.

  35. 35
    Nick C. says:

Novak is on a helluva roll the last few games.

  36. 36
    TheXman says:

SOMEONE PLEASE CALL A FOUL ON DFISH, ARE YOU KIDDING ME

  37. 37
    ephus says:

In the last five minutes, Lin is jumping without knowing ahead of time what he wants to do. As Clyde would say, that is FOLLY.

  38. 38
    daaarn says:

I feel like Lin may be trying to do a little too much. He’s gotta keep it simple with the passes.

  39. 39
    ess-dog says:

Fisher’s gonna crack Lin in the head soon, lol.

  40. 40
    TheXman says:

LOL FOUL THERE CALLED ON KOBE, WHAT ‘BOUT FOR LIN, YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME

  41. 41
    ephus says:

We do not want Landry Fields trying to create for himself off of the dribble.

    Holy Cow!

  44. 44
    Nick C. says:

    Linning and winning!!!

  45. 45
    The Sominator says:

Lin’s decision making is so deceptive. Hopefully Melo realizes he will get his touches if he moves to the rim at the same time Lin does

    +1

  49. 49
    ephus says:

    Great first half!

  50. 50
    Nick C. says:

Who woulda thunk it statement “Knicks up by ten should be a lot more.” “Anthony and Stoudemire are out.”

  51. 51
    ess-dog says:

I can’t believe we’re doing this with Lin, Jeffries and Novak. What???

  52. 52
    The Sominator says:

Lin is playing with so much energy that is contagious right now. The Lakers are playing good half-court defense and making Lin work for his points in the paint. Fortunately, Lin’s up-tempo play is perfect against the lakers who look pretty weak in transition in today’s match-up. Lin is making everyone look good, even Jeffries.

  53. 53
    Lightning says:

What I love about Lin is how he is literally getting annoyed that he’s getting all the credit. He hates that the media is only talking about him, and not about the team success. He also hates that all of the media is saying the ball movement is contagious, and that it’s because of him that everyone is moving the ball so well. He emphasizes the fact that it’s a team sport. He doesn’t relish in his stardom, he actively dismisses it. He knows that a basketball team is at its best when all the players are as one, when it’s a team game, when no man is above any other. That ‘me last’ attitude is why I’ve always been a fan of him.

  54. 54
    ess-dog says:

You really can’t ask any more of Lin against savvy vets like Fisher and Blake. 18 pts on 12 shots, 5 assists. He missed two free throws, but he’s getting to the line. Strong D. I’m speechless.

  55. 55
    ephus says:

Magic said, “He plays like Steve Nash and John Stockton.” I can’t believe we are talking about Linsanity.

  56. 56
    Doug says:

Magic just gave J-Lin his blessing…

  57. 57
    ess-dog says:

Cleveland winning again w/o Irving. They could make the playoffs.

  58. 58
    massive says:

And after what Magic said, I think we can agree that Jeremy Lin is the real deal. This is Tebow-mania all over again, except he can actually play.

  59. 59
    TheXman says:

I Don’t care if they don’t make the playoffs, I STILL LOVE THIS TEAM. LIN NEEDS MAJOR HELP BECAUSE FIELDS AND SHUMP BLOW HARD. Only Novak is making shots. Please dear god, help out Lin.

  60. 60
    Frank O. says:

Thomas B.: Landry Fields, so I guess the answer is nobody.

    Apologies, please.

  61. 61
    massive says:

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been so optimistic in my life about the Knicks. With Lin, Fields, Melo, Stoudemire, and Chandler, we really have a complete starting 5. Magic Johnson just compared Jeremy Lin to Steve Nash and John Stockton. This is ridiculous, and I’m loving every second of it.

  62. 62
    daJudge says:

Lakers look tired. Fisher looks awful, but watch last second 3 pointer (no jinx intended). I wish Stat or Melo were playing. I think Lin is over dribbling a bit, tired, but damn, he is still a PG. Novak has a gorgeous shot and is simply a lethal weapon. On a championship team, he is a guilty pleasure, like a serious $$$ portion of cognac. I think Shump will have a nice second half. BTW, I have not been a fan of Coach, but I will give him a complete pass on Lin and Novak, to some extent. Let’s judge him from here on. JJ is playing great!!!

  63. 63
    xcat01 says:

So far the Knicks are playing awesome. But did you guys hear Lin at the end of the half. He said he needed to do a better job getting TC the ball and that he would look at the film. During half time!!!!

  64. 64
    ephus says:

If Kobe tries to D up Lin, the Knicks need to run multiple PNR on each possession. Kobe may have the will, but he will not have the energy to be a force on offense if he has to absorb lots of blows from Chandler & JJ.

  65. 65
    Frank O. says:

Btw, none of this works without Chandler making teams respect his house. Bynum and Paul a big bastards, but Chandler and Jeffries, right now, are winning the paint battle.
The Lakers are missing some shots, but from 10 feet in, the D is swarming, and Kobe, Bynum and Pau are having trouble getting off good shots and controlling the ball.
The defensive game plan has been terrific.
But Lin is get racked on virtually ever play and Kobe is getting tricky tax shit called. I mean Fisher is playing Rucker park ball and getting away with it. But Lin is bigger, and strangely stronger, or at least strong enough.
And frankly, after the Chandler dish, the tear drop jumper and the 360, Fisher will need PTSD counseling.

  66. 66
    ephus says:

    Fisher on Lin.

  67. 67
    daJudge says:

Sorry for double post—”a complete pass, to some extent…” Delete “to some extent”. I am an idiot. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA and you can count on that. . Go Knicks.

  68. 68
    Frank O. says:

Tricky tax shit??? Autocorrect. Ticky tac shit

  69. 69
    ephus says:

Lin has to develop the range on the 3, but I love his rotation back to the top.

  70. 70
    ephus says:

Lin created that rebound by boxing out Gasol.

  71. 71
    Nick C. says:

That was great defense by Chandler on that last possession. He goes out on Gasol then gets back to block the shot on Bynum while JJ bodied him up.

  72. 72
    Frank O. says:

Okay, this won’t last but Bryant is 1-9

  73. 73
    ess-dog says:

    Jesus, Bill…

  74. 74
    TheXman says:

Walker is absolutely worthless, it’d be a toss-up between him and Bibby

  75. 75
    ephus says:

Nice Pick and Slip by Fields and Chandler.

  76. 76
    xcat01 says:

Lakers doing a great job of keeping the ball out of Chandler’s hands. No so good stopping Lin.

  77. 77
    Frank O. says:

Both teams are just swarming on defense.
Really high quality defensive game. Don’t hold me to this, but these are two heavy-weight teams pounding each other.

  78. 78
    ess-dog says:

Man, Kobe’s like the worst player ever.

  79. 79
    Nick C. says:

    Frank O.:
Okay, this won’t last but Bryant is 1-9

nope. 1-11 with an air ball.

  80. 80
    Nick C. says:

Man. The player formerly known as Ron Artest is one dirty bastard.

  81. 81
    xcat01 says:

I wish somebody in the crowd would throw a beer at Artest, right now he blow up again.

  82. 82
    Thomas B. says:

You’d think a guy named WorldPeace wouldn’t be such a jerk.

  83. 83
    xcat01 says:

This is the same guy who went in the crowd and attacked fans. Someone heave a beer at him, let’s see the Lakers totally melt down.

  84. 84
    Frank O. says:

    Thomas B.:
You’d think a guy named WorldPeace wouldn’t be such a jerk.

A dick by any other name is still a dick

  85. 85
    Frank O. says:

    xcat01:
I wish somebody in the crowd would throw a beer at Artest, right now he blow up again.

It would have to be in front he 20th row or so. Not a lot of toughness from row 20 in, unless they gave some tickets to some Giants players…lol

  86. 86
    Kikuchiyo says:

    Mike Brown fears World Peace.

And he’s not crazy about Universal Health Care either.

  87. 87
    TheXman says:

World Peace player of the game for the Knicks really

  88. 88
    The Sominator says:

Foul trouble with 5 minutes left in the third! Thanks World Peace!

  89. 89
    xcat01 says:

    RutRuh, Kobe is heating up

  90. 90
    Frank O. says:

Knicks will face at least two pushes from the Lakers. Need to knuckle down

  91. 91
    cgreene says:

I’m unclear how you can take the points off the board without awarding the Knicks a possession. Please explain.

  92. 92
    ess-dog says:

Barnes is a pretty good player, but he looks like he just escaped from jail.

  93. 93
    Nick C. says:

What the he’ll was up with removing 2FTs? Shouldn’t the Knicks get a possession? It makes the foul effectively the equivalent of a shot clock violation.

  94. 94
    xcat01 says:

@91, that is a very good point. The Knicks should’ve had a chance to score. The refs are trying to help the Lakers right now. Knicks need to survive the push.

  95. 95
    Thomas B. says:

10 points in the 3rd Q. Not good.

  96. 96
    Frank O. says:

This guy Blake looks like he needs a banjo

  97. 97
    ess-dog says:

That Lin leaner is pretty sweet.

  98. 98
    Frank O. says:

    Thomas B.:
10 points in the 3rd Q. Not good.

Neither team is having much on offense. Defenses are really fighting.

  99. 99
    cgreene says:

I am surprised this board is not more fired up about that call. 2 points came off the board without the Knicks getting a possession.

  100. 100
    ess-dog says:

Ha, I love Bynum there: “What? I just pushed him about four feet. Foul?”

  101. 101
    TheXman says:

I still can’t really believe this is 4th real game

  102. 102
    dogrufus says:

Lin would have about 8 assists again if anyone could shoot.

  103. 103
    Ben R says:

Taking the free throws away is a bazarre call it basically makes it like the offensive foul never happend. It effectively erases the Lakers turnover. Why not just leave the free throws and reset the team fouls to 3 so the next foul doesn’t give free throws.

  104. 104
    Thomas B. says:

Frank O.: Neither team is having much on offense. Defenses are really fighting.

After 49 in the first half, now the Laker D wakes up?

  105. 105
    Frank O. says:

    Beautiful D!!!!!!

  106. 106
    SSS says:

This is a great opportunity here to build up some cushion before the end of the quarter.

Also, when does Fields change his shot back? It looks so awkward.

  107. 107
    ess-dog says:

Novak and Murphy look like a before and after commercial.

  108. 108
    Nick C. says:

Nice play by Jeffies instead of putting up a contested offensive rebound he kicked it out ultimately resulting in FTs for Lin.

  109. 109
    Frank O. says:

Knicks are making the Lakers commit stupid fouls, but it’s also fatigue

  110. 110
    TheXman says:

Fuck, Kobe heating up in time for the 4th quarter, SHUMP PLEASE FUCKING FINISH. Look how strong you are, and u can’t finish!

  111. 111
    The Sominator says:

Kobe is warming up and is getting ready to take over. This will be an epic fourth quarter for Lin. If Lin pulls this out, maybe he is the real deal. Who would’ve thought, Lin vs Kobe!?

  112. 112
    Kikuchiyo says:

    ess-dog:
Novak and Murphy look like a before and after commercial.

Before and after what? A losing fight with an anvil?

  113. 113
    Frank O. says:

You knew Kobe would start making ridiculous shots. Other Knicks need to make shots

  114. 114
    Jahredmen says:

Quick question guys, would NBA league pass blackout knick games If I have TWC? Can’t miss anymore of the birth of the Lin era!!

  115. 115
    Frank O. says:

    Walker has shot terribly

  116. 116
    SSS says:

    No more Bibby.

    No more Walker.

    Please?

  117. 117
    Kikuchiyo says:

Carmelo’s out, but, thanks to Kobe, we still get to see some Hero Ball tonight.

  118. 118
    hotdamn says:

Toney Douglas has got to be better than Billy, no?

  119. 119
    Thomas B. says:

    Frank O.:
    Walker has shot terribly

Yep. A three or two won’t change my mind about that.

  120. 120
    hotdamn says:

    **Bibby**

  121. 121
    Frank O. says:

    hotdamn:
Toney Douglas has got to be better than Billy, no?

    Hell no

  122. 122
    Thomas B. says:

    hotdamn:
Toney Douglas has got to be better than Billy, no?

    Sadly, no.

  123. 123
    Frank O. says:

Bibby is 0 for the last five games

  124. 124
    Kikuchiyo says:

Bibby and Shump present their two-man show: “Memories of January.”

  125. 125
    Thomas B. says:

Mike Breen: Bibby just can’t find the basket.
Me: Sure he can! Wait, did you say basket or casket?

  126. 126
    Frank O. says:

Time to get the starters in, coach. Need to start pushing back

  127. 127
    xcat01 says:

TC and JLin coming back in the game. Both needed the blow, hopefully JLin can get the energy back up.

  128. 128
    max fisher-cohen says:

at least bibby got that last one over the front of the rim…

  129. 129
    JK47 says:

Shumpert-Bibby-Walker-Novak-Jeffries. Now that is one stanky lineup.

  130. 130
    TheXman says:

Bibby is worthless, like how did you get this fucking bad? If you can’t make an open shot, what are you good for? Shump is fucking bricking layups. Novak with an open 3 in the corner, clanks it.

  131. 131
    Frank O. says:

Amazing, in four games I’m utterly confident the kid is going to make the Knicks fight this to the end.

  132. 132
    Thomas B. says:

    JK47:
Shumpert-Bibby-Walker-Novak-Jeffries. Now that is one stanky lineup.

    AMC’s The Walking Bricks

  133. 133
    xcat01 says:

Can the Knicks get ACarter back from Toronto? He shouldn’t cost much in a trade. We need something better than the corpse of Bibby as the backup PG

  134. 134
    Degree_Absolute says:

Bibby is horrible. I can’t remember the last time he hit a shot.

  135. 135
    Nick C. says:

    There you go Shumpert!

  136. 136
    SSS says:

Anyone else screaming at Shump there, even after the jumper went in?

  137. 137
    Degree_Absolute says:

    Lin is unbelievable.

  138. 138
    Frank O. says:

    PUSH BACK, BABY!

  139. 139
    hotdamn says:

    How sweet it is

  140. 140
    Frank O. says:

The energy on the D to get the ball out of Kobe’s hands has been great.

  141. 141
    Nick C. says:

Lin’s jumper has looked pretty good tonight.

  142. 142
    Richmond County says:

Lin quickly reminding the Lakers that the only reason the got it close was because he was on the bench.

  143. 143
    Degree_Absolute says:

    I hate Kobe.

  144. 144
    Degree_Absolute says:

    Steve Novak showing some D!!!

  145. 145
    Frank O. says:

    SHUMP SHUMP SHUMP

  146. 146
    KnickInSeattle says:

    boom!

  147. 147
    ephus says:

Go Shump-Shump! Recovered from the bad catch at the 3 to attack the rim for the old-fashioned 3 point play.

  148. 148
    Nick C. says:

How about that Novak forces a TO by Gasol. Then Shumpert redeems himself for getting blocked by the backboard.

  149. 149
    Thomas B. says:

So the player nobody wanted and the draft pick I didn’t want are leading the team. How does this sort of thing happen?

  150. 150
    Degree_Absolute says:

    LIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

  151. 151
    Frank O. says:

Man, the quality of play of these Knicks….LIN LIN LIN!!!

  152. 152

    OH MY FUCKING GOD

  155. 155
    Degree_Absolute says:

    OMG!!!! JEREMY FUCKING LIN!!!!!

  156. 156
    xcat01 says:

JLin has ice water in his veins!!!

  157. 157
    Thomas B. says:

This shit is not supposed to happen for the Knicks.
    God I love it!

  158. 158
    massive says:

Jeremy Lin is the greatest thing to happen to the Knicks since Donnie Walsh lol.

  159. 159
    Tony Pena says:

    The Yellow Mamba!

  160. 160
    Frank O. says:

    WWLD

  161. 161
    ephus says:

Lin also has a very high basketball IQ. The play on Gasol was inspirational.

  162. 162

Decent PG play is challenging to find if you do not have the cap space.

We could’ve picked up Ramon Sessions or other quality pg. We could’ve even been in the running for Chris Paul if we used the same package we sent to Denver.

With limited cap space and unable to trade a first round for the more almost half a decade, we had to rely on:

    Toney Douglas
    Iman Shumpert
    Mike Bibby
    Carmelo Anthony
    Jeremy Lin

Granted, we are very fortunate that Jeremy exploded and is a PERFECT fit. Right before jeremy exploding, we were considering trading for J. Flynn. We sold most of our team for Melo, I wished Dolan waited.

Similarly, having a front core is not enough to win games. We need decent pg play, spot up shooter, and so forth. Cap space would’ve been nice this past summer.

The Melo-esque trade is on the same caliber with Eddy Curry and Marbury trade, they can hurt a team for the remainder of the decade. It’s not so much Melo but the amount of pieces we used in the trade.

I wonder what Lin is doing on the 24th? Dolan better buy Lin a first class ticket to Orlando. Lin has put up good sophomore numbers through 13 games that will only get better during the remainder of the season. He’s been the Lintegral part to the current 4-game winning streak.

My God, John Barry is a dick.

Still can’t believe this happened. Has there ever been another athlete in any sport who was more of an underdog/guy out of nowhere with more pressure to prove on the biggest stage that he wasn’t a fluke and respond like he did?! I would have been happy with 13 pts/6 assists, but 38 points?!?! Against Kobe and the big bad Lakers?!?! It is truly historic, one of the greatest moments in Knicks history. If he never does anything else, he will be remembered forever. Jerry Sandusky is talking on ESPN right now. What opposite ends of the spectrum of sports and life.
