also, there sure is a lot less talk about the Nuggets here recently as they sink out of the playoffs in the West. a lot of injuries, I know, but that shouldn't affect a dynasty like the one I was told they'd built there.

you’ll never admit that the players simply are not good enough to win the East.

</blockquote>

they probably aren't, but again if that's your thesis, it has nothing to do with current personnel and everything to do with the botched 2009 draft and subsequent failure to land LeBron. everything since then has been largely irrelevant, since we don't have LeBron, so as usual, I'm really not sure of your point. initially it was that we couldn't possibly assemble a talented team around two underachieving max guys, but now that's exactly what's happened and much sooner than anyone had any right to expect. will you admit you were wrong about that at some point, and that Melo has some value in terms of recruiting other players?

but yeah, coming into the season, it was almost certain that one of MIA/CHI/OKC would win the title, and nothing has changed there. NY certainly has a lot of talent though, we'll see what they do with it.

as for Shumpert and his TS%, only someone who trusts the stats as much as you do would think that this team isn't better off with him taking Fields' minutes.

a couple of things about the game:

they were beaten by a better team that was waiting for them , so no disgrace in that.

the heat beat them to every loose ball tonight.

there is a structural flaw in the offense they were running tonight that even a moron like reggie miller correctly commented on.

against a team as athletic as the heat where lin could neither turn the corner or split the trap on the pnr, he was screwed when he backed the double team out because he can't throw the ball to the screener (chandler) who is wide open 15 feet from the basket because he is so incompetent offensively outside of 3 feet from the basket. he can/won't shoot from there, can't put the ball on the floor and isn't exactly oscar robertson passing. that's the quandary lin was in all night.

they should have used amar'e or melo as the screener more often against a team as athletic and motivated as miami was tonight.

So many excuses. If he’s not ready to play basketball, he shouldn’t be playing basketball. Players come back from injuries all the time. David West destroyed his knee last year and started the season an above-average player.

abbey, you ride Shumpert and Davis so hard it’s getting a little creepy. You can argue all you want about Shumpert’s defense, but his offense is bad enough to warrant him sitting the bench until garbage time. .450 TS% is awful. Baron Davis may be getting his reps with the team, but he hasn’t been good since 2008, and it’s unlikely he’s going to have some kind of career resurgence at age 33 with ball-stopping stars like Carmelo and Amar’e running the show.

When this window of “opportunity” passes, you and the other apologists on this board will make excuses, but you’ll never admit that the players simply are not good enough to win the East.

</blockquote>
Cognitive dissonance. You insist on facts and accuracy, but then fail to take into account the fact that the Knicks have had few practices. The only place for Davis to BECOME ready is by playing. THat's not an excuse it is factual perspective.
But you appear intent on defending a point of view rather than seeking truth. Everybody is entitled to their opinions.
I happen to think what has happened with a little competent guard play has been remarkable and points to tremendous potential. I wrote before what each player has been through. Those weren't opinions, they were facts and they affect outcomes. Not to acknowledge those facts seems disengenuous.
