That’s an indictment of Melo taking everyone out of rhthym. Now that they’ve started to accumulate minutes together the difference is clear.

The only thing more ugly than NY’s point guard platoon might be Cleveland’s offense. Anderson Varejao might be their best player.
But our defense certainly helps the cause. When we have Shump out front, and Jeffries and Tyson in the middle, we are a top 5 NBA unit. No joke.

With all the charges called that half I will say at least when Jeffries draws them they are obvious as hell. A couple of charges called on the Knicks were iffy to say the least. I love it when Van Gundy rants about everything being called a charge now lol
Word is Gallinari is going to pay Melo 10percent as his agent. The Nuggets and Danilo Gallinari have reached an agreement on a four-year, $42 million contract extension. Best thing to ever happen to Gallo was Melo. He owes Melo money!

Wow the team is -14.7 points worse with Anthony on the bench. I knew the team was embarrassing without him, but damn… Our team has a +5.5 efficiency differential per 100 possesions with Carmelo on the floor. That’s not bad
The number of charges called in todays game is really too much. Nearly every time a defender falls down dramatically backwards it is called a charging foul, unless they are inside the semi-circle. The refs need to focus more on the movement of the defenders because now that it is being called so frequently in games, everyone and their mothers run under the basket and fall over backwards.
at least I’m not the only person who thought there were a ton of charges called. It seemed like every other possession for a while. How many of the Knocks turnovers were charges? Not that a point guard wouldn’t help mind you.

This really seems like a winnable game to me, the Cavs have no interior scorers and if we just stay at home on their 3 point shooters, it should be difficult for them to score in the 2nd half. Just a matter of us making shots on the other end.
Amar’e is playing like a steaming pile of crap in this game.
So is Shump. Why doesn’t Coach D coach this kid? Tell him when to shoot, why to shoot, where to shoot?

I usually don’t get irritated by broadcast guys, but the Cavs guys’ deep affection for clichés is making me a bit irritated. That and the fact that we continue with the unforced turnovers.
The entire team has looked lifeless so far this half. Standing on offense and watching Sideshow Bob grab offensive rebounds.
Burgundy, sickly blue, and mustard yellow? The only thing worse than these unis would be a pink sash over the top.
Toney Douglas = liability.
If I wasn’t a fan of this team I would still tune in just to see how bad one man (Toney Douglas) can play basketball. It’s really remarkable.
If Knicks lose this game they will end the week at 7-13 most likely. They have to win this freaking game.

I agree that MDA’s read and react style is very hard on young players especially a guy like Shump who is playing out of position. You can just feel Shump wondering what to do and MDA telling him “you use the screen and then you have these 4 options and blah blah blah” when all the kid needs is a little more structure. He seems like a high IQ player.

That shot chart for Amare was painful to see. About half a dozen makes under the basket and 1-7 or 8 elsewhere.
TD shouldn’t be in any game unless it’s garbage time. The guy has a negative win share score and we’re almost a third of the way through the season.
He doesn’t deserve the playing time. He’s playing at below replacement level. Give his minutes to Lin already.

Let me qualify this statement. I have been somewhat of a dove when it comes to Melo. I have no idea why he sucks right now. Maybe it’s injuries. Maybe it’s mental. I don’t really care. He stinks. BUT… please observe the game properly. Melo gave his man (a much smaller defender) a jab step fake that the defender totally bit on leaving Melo a solid 3 feet of wide open space between him and the defense and he launched a set shot in rhythm off the fake. If you are going to criticize please observe the game properly.

Knicks lost this game with 3 1/2 minutes left in the 1st half. They went up 40-31 only to have to score the final 4 points of the half just to be tied at half-time.
Well, c’mon we were on the 2nd night of a back to back….oh, wait, the Cavs played in Miami last night.
That was not fun to watch.
This is super petty, and I’m not saying it makes a difference in this game, but I saw the exact same shit last year against cleveland and said it last year here. How come the clock keeps running after made baskets? 3 times that I’ve noticed on seperate occasions the clock ticks off like 5 or 6 seconds while the ball is not in play. I definitely noticed it at the 8:30ish mark and again after the Varejo slam. And while it doesn’t effect this game, if the Knicks would have fought back into this game they would have been up against a clock that isn’t being kept right.

How many d-leaguers can be worse than TD? The man is the worst basketball player in he league at this point, and somehow Mike Bibby is our only other option. I mean if Toney Douglas could simply run down the floor without puking all over the floor it would be a massive upgrade a this point.
One so called “good” game against a really bad team such as Charlotte says nothing. AT THIS POINT, Knicks are competing with Detroit, Washington, and Charlotte for the WORST team title in the NBA. This is how bad they have been playing.
At least the Knicks picked up TD’s option today guaranteeing another year of TD on the Knicks.

The Knicks’ point guards shot 6 of 21 tonight with 5 assists and 6 turnovers. Neither of those guys has a TS% close to 51 at this point and neither is an effective playmaker- How could Davis not help them??

you trolled me last night over the wonderfully efficiency of chandler’s 9 for 10 . and i responded he’d regress back to who he actually is tonight. i realize he scored 11 versus the 8 that i predicted, but his stat line tonight shows the inherent weakness of basing one’s entire opinion on stats.
although he played “efficiently” tonight from a statistical perspective scoring 11 points on 6 shots, grabbing 9 boards (and even blocked a single shot in the 46th minute), he totally sucked eggs and was completely pwned by vareajo tonight, not exactly looking like the 7th most valuable player in the league by your exalted stats.
against a team with no big man, our 7’1″ offensive stat juggernaut couldn’t do diddly offensively. of course, that is because as everyone knows other than statisticians…. he has no offensive game of any sort outside of 2 feet.
as a matter of fact watching him get pwned on the defensive end by offensive non entities at crunch time in the 4th quarter by varejao and alonzo gee and vareajo again, i imagine chandler was wandering the locker room asking where he should go to get his jock strap back after the game?

No, actually, Baron Davis would probably improve the team right now. Toney Douglas is terrible and Bibby isn’t much better. But if improving to mediocrity is the goal of this team, we have about as much chance of seeing the Knicks make the 2nd round of the playoffs than we do seeing Spree anything but banned after this violent, uncalled for, and insensitive comment.

Really guys. this petty sniping is getting ridiculous. I consider this Knicks blog to be a cut above all the others, and even though I don’t agree with a lot that is said, I try to respect others opinions (and most posters on this blog do as well) .
The all caps responses and nyah nyah nyah’s are just childish and unnecessary. And hoolahoop, I personally don’t find the infighting entertaining at all.

We needed both of these first two games, with Miami and Houston on the back end. Now we’re realistically looking at coming out of this road trip 7-13. Fair or unfair, I just don’t see how D’Antoni survives that.
Of course, it wouldn’t surprised me in the least if we pulled off the upset against Miami — or even if we escaped with both wins. But this team just isn’t built well for a condensed season, and arguably any season.
The score might not say so, but we got our asses kicked tonight.
I certainly get your perspective hoolahoop and I really do not disagree. I don’t know you at all, but some of us deal with quite a bit of harsh reality on a daily basis. I know I do. Thank you for the advice, but respectfully, I don’t need to get a further grip on reality. I know that I watch and play basketball as a kind of escape. In that regard, I don’t find the in-fighting entertaining, but that’s just me. If you do, that’s cool. I agree strongly that everyone has the right to say what they want. Really? Is it really all that valuable? We couldn’t buy a goddamn basket at the end of this game. Why not give the ball to our awesomely efficient center? BECAUSE HE CAN’T SCORE. It’s great that he can throw down an occasional slam, get a tip-in every now and then and make some free throws, but if there’s a defender anywhere in his vicinity he’s not scoring.
Chandler is very valuable because of his defense and rebounding, and isn’t a complete zero on offense because at least he doesn’t try to force shots he can’t make. But let’s not act like “11 POINTS WITH ONLY 6 REGISTERED FIELD GOAL ATTEMPTS” is awesomely valuable.

tonight, when the offense was struggling to get points, chandler was totally useless, because he has no game on the offensive end , save 2 footers that he cannot ever generate himself.
