Looks like an “improved” Amare will play after all. I sure would like to win one…
Looks like only teams left who can get swept are the Knicks and Knuggets.
watching this sixers games, i’d rather have the sixers team than the current knick team. they are young, rebound, and play great defense.

They are also capped out for years and have virtually no chance of improving their team via free agency.
The Knicks have the stars though! If sixers get a star then maybe. All the Knicks need is players to surround Amare and Melo with.

This is incredible, the refs are doing their best to help the Celtics finish their sweep. Calling defensive 3 secc on the Knicks when 2 secs came off the clock.
Our “stars” haven’t really performed, sixers at least got a win against a top tier team. It’s not about stars, it’s about how well you play as a team.

Amare and Melo haven’t been great as of yet however they have only had half a season together after a trade which basically gave us a new team. Given a training camp together with some more pieces to surround them they will hopefully be better next season.
does toney not know how to play transition D or is it MDA’s great defensive philosophy to back up until he lays it up? dear god
Holiday, Thaddeus Young, and Evan Turner are all young players who are cheap and productive. They’re just going to get better and it’s sa nice core to build around.
Why can’t we shoot the ball?
Only chance Knicks have is if Melo goes for 40.
I like Holiday however Turner is too inconsistent and I’m not a huge fan of Young. They don’t have the cap space right now to build on that core and that will limit them to a 5/6 seed at best.
Amare is obviously still suffering with that injury, 0-6 from the field.

Funny part is their bench has killed the Celtics bench this series.
Seriously, its getting to a point where Melo needs to shoot every time he touches the ball for the Knicks to score.
Melo twice passes to guys in the paint resulting in a block shot and a charge. Sigh.

Walker does it every time, the refs are just waiting for it, only down 6 vs. 15 points in the first quarter, think optimistic. If we’re only down 8 by half time that ain’t bad.
I know it’s strange but the celtics bench is pretty bad itself right now. Melo is the only player I trust to make a basket right now.
I don’t mind that play by Melo to Walker–50/50 call. That’s totally different than passing to Jeffries. That’s just a bad play practically by definition.
Oh I agree, I like seeing Melo pass. The problem is the guys who he is having to pass to right now lol.
Yeah, it’s a game at least. But, Amare and Melo both have to play at least decently to beat Boston. I feel for DWTDD. Rondo’s a horrible matchup, and coming into the series you’d think that he’d be playing most of his minutes vs West.
If melo doesn’t start second quarter with STAT obviously compromised, how in the world are they going to scorE?????

I remember when people were saying the Knicks will be better off this series with Billups not playing and TD starting.
we could go 0-8 vs. one team this year, what is the statistical probability behind that.
I miss the times when the offense was fluid and exciting to watch, vs. the Spurs and the first game against the C’s come to mind. I don’t see any of that any more, obviously it’s a different team. We can’t defend and we can’t score, not gonna win too many games.
He’s a quality backup combo, but yes. NY needs more from the position. And, it is difficult for me–as much as I have historically loved Billups–to feel comfortable about his health. I feel bad for DWTDD. This is just a HORRIBLE matchup for him but it’s not like we can manage his matchups.

Yeah that makes more sense. I also like TD as a backup as it boosts are bench but he isn’t good enough to be a playoff starter.

I like TD in the backup combo role, not so much as the starting/backup point. Billups health and age are an issue. The draft is point deep but center shallow. So maybe we can find help there.
glad we got the lead momentarily at least in the 1st quarter, so not wire to wire for two games
I know the NY crowd loves when we’re winning and is impatient but the lack of cheering and crowd support is ridiculous.
I thought since the Sixers came with some heart and avoided the sweep, our NYK could do the same.
Ray Allen is doing something I have only seen while playing “Double Dribble” on the NES. He can make a 3-pointer like most people make a lay-up.

ah, well…first team eliminated from this year’s playoffs is a bit humbling and embarrasing however…even indiana managed to beat chicago 1 game and they were 37-45 in regular season.

To be fair the Sixers were not short 2 of their top 3. We have no Billups and 1/4 of STAT.
Hilarious ppl thought the Knicks had any chance for an upset. Wish we had won at least one of the first two games. Fucking sad.
Frankly, Chicago isn’t as good as Boston. I don’t care what the records say.
the knicks look totally terrified on offense… dazed. They are making some hustle plays, but they have that hopeless, “when is this going to be over with?” look to their body language… missing free throws, terrible decision making.
Prediction: We’ll fall behind by about 25 mid 3rd, and then suddenly the pressure will be off, and we’ll see what we could have done had the celtics not totally psyched our dudes out, and we’ll see a close game in the 4th.

After we gave up the lead in game 1 I could tell that it we weren’t gonna take the series but the way we’ve played these last 2 games is ridiculous.

Fields is totally lost, maybe too busy writing shit fot the NY Post… The supporting cast is really one of the worst in the league and with Billups out a Amare clearly in pain we’re a very mediocre team. 24% shooting? How could you stay in a game with the Celtics shooting 24%?
we can’t get rid of dantoni until there’s someone better out there to get.
All I can think about every time Landry catches the ball with space and then hesitates and lets the Celtics completely recover is how Gallinari would have drawn a foul or at least taken the shot. Have to have guys who can punish teams for double teaming or else it’s 1 on 5 on offense, and I think five of me could beat one carmelo.
Jeffries has his uses. He’s the big man version of Chris Duhon. At 12-15 minutes he’s useful.
Toney Douglas has worn out Derrick Rose on multiple occasions this year. Matchups matter in the NBA.
If everyone was healthy, the series could look different. It was unlikely anyway, but it would be a better series to watch. 1st game was a nice one.
Celtics do play pretty good D, but every possession is an iso in half court, not hard to guard. Trying to make difficult shot after difficult shot wears on you. Sad to get blown out 2 games at home. Maybe, we can do a Trailblazer come back in the 4th.
Not counting on it, just sad. I turned it off, after each easy shot by Rondo and Davis my blood pressure kept going up. Just sad, after so much promise in the beginning of the season with a new team and new faces, to end getting swept, blown out at home. Sad.

Amare Stoudamire is one of the best mid-range jump shooters in the league.
Rick Adelman? He had a team of scrubs be quite competitive, with no so-called all stars.
I wish the series wouldve ended after Game 2, at least it would have left a much better taste in our mouths.

This game shows you that the reserves need to be revamped. I don’t care that Billups is out and STAT is hurt. You can’t have reserve players lie down like dogs. This is jut awful.

I disagree. Melo carried the team in game 2, STAT in game 1. Fields was MIA as was Walker and Turiaf. What reserve stepped up and played solid ball in all four games? JJ?
Well you said the bench has lied down today and they have but they didnt lie down in Boston. They played hard and good D. I saw a stat last night about playoff benches PPG and the Knicks were in the Top 5 at like 32 or 33 PPG. Those were stats for the playoffs.
Well if you are satisfied with a bench that shows up half the time, then sure lets give all of them 5 year extensions. We might just get 2.5 years worth of solid play out of them.
The bench bros are probably only going to play well by playing off spacing created by Melo and/or STAT. Without spacing they’re likely to suck pretty bad.

The bench is pretty bad. But Im not gonna go overboard because they cant hang with the Celtics starters.

I turned it off, my life feels better for it. Just get the sweep over and done with so I can watch high quality instead of these jokers. I’ll have to cheer for the Knuggets to gets swept, at least I’ll know the trade didn’t make them better off or whatever.

Next Year. I guess you keep Billups that expiring contract could be of value. You can bring back Walker and Shawne Williams because they are so cheap. Other than that, let the rest of the expiring contracts or options go.

He said he wants to return and I would assume it would be for the league minimum like this season but Im just curious if maybe someone offers him a little more plus more than 1 year.

I couldn’t be happier with the ending of the game. I just can’t figure out where that intensity was to begin with. They play shortmanned every night, and shorter, every night.
With a big man, this team could go real far. Two superstars critiqued for their inability to hustle and play defense has proven they can. At some point, you grow up and not only look to get on ESPN’s top 10 plays of the night. Just a couple of role players would have made this series much different. Imagine if we had a Chandler, a Felton (or a PG at all) or a spot up 3 like Gallo.
Imagine if Boston didn’t have Rondo, or if the Bulls didn’t have Rose. Billups has proven to at least steadily lead teams as much as those two have (Rose not at all).
Just sucked to lose Billups basically because of a small shoving match in that Orlando game, and his legs/knee was never the same after Dwight’s pick.
Oh well. Depending on what happens with Billups and how you feel about Fields and TD this team needs C,b/u point and guys that are NBA caliber 4-7th men. Really this team is just back of the rotation players after the guys I mention,and TD and Fields could and have fit that description but not lately.
I just get too pissed off. Sorry, maybe I have to stop being such an emotional fan. It’s just disappointing, all I wanted was ONE GODDAMN WIN. I didn’t want them to win the series, I just wanted them to WIN ONCE against fucking KG and that Paul Pierce grin. 8 times this year, the Knicks could not win once.

Well, now we can really start thinking about the future. Still think game 1 was a win, so the sweep is a bit easier to swallow.
This ones on me cause I’m such a looser. A loudmouth. A disregard for any decency. A deserter. Whatever. Wasted the whole season watching to get got the playoffs and be swept.
Hopefully Jimmer falls to us since there are no real big men of which to speak in this draft. I think he could potentially be a Ty Lawson type steal.
We’ll likely start Billups and bring the kid along slowly. It would be real nice if Jerome Jordan could eventually start but I’m not going to hold my breath. If we could start Stat/Jordan backed up by Shawne/Turiaf that’s good enough for me. Otherwise, we have to find a starting center somewhere.
I guess Fields starts at the 2 and TD backs him up. Another year to gel.

Sorry ess-dog, there’s 3 people I’d like to see come off the bench for the Knicks only at this point: Williams, TD, and AC.
Despite the fact that AC has practically no offensive value, he’s got defensive hustle, and sometimes, that’s better than TDs more finesse style. Roger Mason Jr. is a blowup garbage time player. Jeffries isn’t a bad big to backup, but certainly, he’s no starter. Him and Turiaf are similar and having 2 is nice, but none of them are key. The Knicks need a solid STARTING 5, like DeAndre Jordan, not Jerome Jordan. They need a PASS FIRST STARTING point, or they keep Billups, who is at least a solid leader and smart defensively, despite his creaky knees. Rondo certainly wasn’t running circles around him in G1. He was a lot more steady than when TD was in the game.
TD is a great hustle PG to deal with the other teams’ backup PG, and really make them pay. That was his job all year, backing up Felton, who was a lot more gritty.
The Knicks essentially need a big man and they can make the ECF pretty easily. Barring injuries, it’s a team that can go far. But their bench players are their role players right now, and that’s the second biggest problem.
Thought the Knicks had one run in them, but the game ended on that offensive foul call on Extra E. It seems like we couldnt get one of those calls to go our way the entire series. Celtics did a good job at doing what they do though.
I thought Rondo was easily the key to the series. Without him, no way Boston wins.
I thought the team played very hard for the series, and I think we got a good glimpse of how good this team could be with a healthy Stat and Melo. I am very hopeful for the future of this team, just need a couple key pieces.
