I’m this close to starting a “Free Anthony Randolph” FB page. Yeah, I’m super-cool like that. Still single, for all you She-Knickerbloggeristas out there!

  2. Jimmy C

Robert Silverman: I’m this close to starting a “Free Anthony Randolph” FB page. Yeah, I’m super-cool like that. Still single, for all you She-Knickerbloggeristas out there!

My fiance asked me the other day: “Are there ANY girl Knickerbloggers?”

    “Yeah, there’s ahhh… few.”

  3. Robert Silverman

My ex was one. We met prior to me finding this site (so no taking credit there, Mike K.). Then there’s El Beau, who’s been pretty scarce recently. She’s probably shacked up in some remote cabin in the woods with Ted Nelson, sticking needles in the Raymond Felton voodoo doll they made together at some point during this 6-game skid.

  4. Michael Cline

    What is Chandler’s deal? Gross.

And Amare’s defense on McGee’s layup a few minutes ago was just stupid. Why even be down low if you aren’t going to at least jump with him? Pathetic.

  5. Jimmy C

BigBlueAL: Chandler is proving to be the most mentally soft player in the NBA.

It’s a catch-22. It’s like he’s playing poorly on purpose so he doesn’t get traded, but the longer he keeps this up, the less we’re going to want to invest in him going forward.

  6. Michael Cline

Then again, Amare wouldn’t have to pay such soft defense and worry about foul trouble if he had any confidence that Randolph or Mozgov could replace him. (Not that STAT has ever played great defense, but still)

  7. BigBlueAL

Hey I like Chandler and if being traded is bothering him because he really loves playing in NY with the Knicks I appreciate that. But to let it affect his play if that is indeed the case thats pretty sad.

  8. Robert Silverman

This unit on the floor is the one that scares me the most. Naturally, as I type, they can two open 3’s.

  9. rama

The Wiz look disinterested. I don’t think we’re going to lose this game.

And I predict here first: we are going to beat the Heat.

And everyone is going to get excited about how we don’t need to make changes, we just needed Felton to stop sucking.

And then we’ll lose to the Hawks.

  10. Jimmy C

Once again Chandler has a guy 4 inches shorter than him, demands the ball on the high post, and…… shoots a fadeaway 18 footer.

  11. rama

    As I said…

13 point lead cut to 2 in like a minute and a half. Maybe ought to bring back that Gallinari guy.

  12. rama

I still think we’ll win this going away. Knicks were just reminded that they can’t take any team for granted – have to give full effort for all 48.

  13. cgreene

What Breen keeps saying is absolutely right. Give these guys a chance to think they will win and the will

  14. Michael Cline

The refs are starting to talk behind closed doors about Galo’s flopping and aren’t buying it as much.

With that said, that was clearly a pushoff on Shakur.

  15. jaylamerique

ess-dog: I think it’s obvious that Walker and Williams are redundant. One needs to go.

so what your saying is that walker needs to go

  16. TheXman

Jimmy C: Is Stat getting beat repeatedly by a D-Leaguer? Is that what’s happening?

stat gets beat by everyone, he sucks on defense and he doesn’t rebound. he can score 50 and it still won’t matter, so pairing him up with melo sounds great.

  17. cgreene

Sorry. That made no sense. Breen was referencing that if you give the Wiz life (with their 0-20 road record) to get their first road win and they will.

  18. Robert Silverman

Stat’s missing a lot of easy shots. Felton’s having a good game (finally). And I never tire of hearing Clyde’s thoughts on facebook.

  19. Kikuchiyo

Fields was a nice part of the strong opening. Why can’t he get some minutes? Did I miss something?

  20. ess-dog

So… we give up 62 point in the first half to the Wiz at home… is it time to start panicking yet?

  21. Robert Silverman

I want to Jill Martin to ask Billy Crudup if he feels any regret for totally screwing Mary Louise Parker over. (For the uninitiated, Crudup dumped her for Claire Danes when MLP was 8 months pregnant with Billy’s child!)

  22. Kikuchiyo

Although it seems the Knicks give up 30 in every first quarter of every game, they have only done that SIXTEEN times this season. Tonight, for example, it wasn’t until the second quarter that the Wizards scored 36.

    Sheesh.

  23. jaylamerique

Robert Silverman: Stat’s missing a lot of easy shots. Felton’s having a good game (finally). And I never tire of hearing Clyde’s thoughts on facebook.

Did Clyde watch basketball anymore outside of the knicks. He seems really lost when talking about other players.

  24. Nick C.

Felton in his halftime words said they needed to play with energy or some such thing. WTH is up with these guys.

  25. Jimmy C

Nick C.: Felton in his halftime words said they needed to play with energy or some such thing.WTH is up with these guys.

They’ve been saying that the last 7 games.

  26. BigBlueAL

Alright its tied at the half, lets hope the Knicks no matter what or how they just get this win so we can all breath a sigh of relief and relax a bit for the next couple of days. See you guys after the game….

  27. ess-dog

The disparity in the rebounding department for the umpteenth time is really quite discouraging, I must say…

  28. Jimmy C

ess-dog: The disparity in the rebounding department for the umpteenth time is really quite discouraging, I must say…

It think it’s a bigger problem than our defense. I mean, they have to know that more offensive boards by the opponents means more possessions, right? Has rebounding traditionally been met with as much of a “who gives a shit” attitude by D’A as defense?

  29. Frank O.

I find it profoundly troubling that the Knicks have given up 62 points in a half to this team.
In baseball they have a phrase, defensive indifference, which is when a team fails to stop a base stealer. The knicks appear to have adopted it as a governing philosophy.
And I know the Wiz, they don’t score this way

  30. Frank O.

maurice lucas: Have a bad feeling that either Lewis or Nick Young will get hot in the 2nd half

The knicks gave up 52 percent shooting. They already were hot.

  31. Frank O.

Gallo was getting going early with his drives and getting fouled. Why is it the knicks always, always get away from him when he is being effective…?
I just don’t get how it happens. They guy drives so effectively and almost always gets fouled doing it. yet after a time, that part of his game disappears and he doesn’t get the ball much

  32. Frank O.

WC with 18 points on 16 shots.
What happened to efficient Wilson? I want efficient Wilson back, not Carmelo Chandler.

  33. Robert Silverman

cgreene: Have the Knicks gotten a stop in this quarter besides the block on Wall?

McGee missed a layup. But yes, the defense has been wafer-thin.

  34. Frank O.

Gallo has gotten all of 6 shots, most of which came in the 1st period.
    But gallo has 0 rebounds.

  35. cgreene

    Robert Silverman:
McGee missed a layup. But yes, the defense has been wafer-thin.

Would guess Wiz have gotten pts on 80% of possessions. Thank goodness stat is being stat on O

  36. rama

The stats are not recorded right: Gallo took a rebound away from Blatche on one possession, which should be a board or a steal, but neither was recorded.

Which doesn’t excuse not having more, but it is annoying to watch the game and see how inaccurate the stat-keeping is.

  37. cgreene

BTW, Robert, you’ll be glad to know even Breen who is generally soft on officials is killing the officiating against stat tonight.

  38. Brian Cronin

Yep, gallo makes a nice drive, draws a fouls, drains the shots…time to get him to the bench.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It could be that they’re worried about his knee.

  39. Nick C.

Frank O.: 6’10 and zero rebounds.

when I used to make comments like That I would get told it was because he played away from the basket and I was effectively an idiot because he is average for a SF.sigh

  40. Frank O.

The wizards clearly didn’t watch the past few Knicks games where teams showed that if you are physical with STAT he stays away from the paint and settles for jumpers where his efficiency plummets.

  41. Frank O.

    Nick C.:
when I used to make comments like That I would get told it was because he played away from the basket and I was effectively an idiot because he is average for a SF.sigh

Well, you could still be an idiot…:)
But at 6’10, he needs to be following his own shots and crashing the boards when others shoot. On that point, we agree. :)

  42. Frank O.

Brian Cronin: Really, there is no reason for the Knicks to lose to this team. The Wizards are awful.

Awful…and yet the knicks surrendered to them 93 points in 3 quarters…

  43. Brian Cronin

It is not a good sign when in back to back games the Knicks get a last second shot waved off and then the other team gets a shot counted by the slimmest of margins (I don’t see how they could possibly wave that shot off).

  44. Robert Silverman

cgreene: BTW, Robert, you’ll be glad to know even Breen who is generally soft on officials is killing the officiating against stat tonight.

I’ve been listening, and naturally, I agree. Getting the MSG feed tonight (which after a few weeks of listening to other team’s TV guys, is a welcome relief). Clyde’s malapropism’s aside, we should be grateful to get Breen/Walt on a nightly basis. Though I still pine for the unbridled enthusiasm of Gus Johnson

  45. Frank O.

What’s so funny about Clyde is he misuses the same words all the time, and it appears no one tells him, so he continues making the same errors.
Unless he’s like bush and he’s prideful about his ignorance…recall “nucular.”

  46. Robert Silverman

ATDHE – it’s technically the NBA network, but they’re sending out MSG’s broadcast. & not to jinx it, but it’s working

  47. Robert Silverman

When I went to the Miami game and got to meet Clyde, my plan was to tell him that “vacillate” doesn’t mean “fast” but rather swinging between two extremes/poles. But Clyde was so effing cool there was no way I muster the gumption to correct him. I assume that’s often the case

  48. Michael Cline

Blatche has just had a ridiculously terrible game against us. If he hit his averages tonight, you have to wonder if we win this game.

  49. Nick C.

Clyde and Breen have been complimentary about Extra E’s defense all game. Are we missing something?

  50. Michael Cline

Drawing the charge/flopping (depending on how you look at it) is Gallo’s #1 addition to this team.

How does he miss both free throws?

  51. Frank O.

Nick C.: Clyde and Breen have been complimentary about Extra E’s defense all game. Are we missing something?

    HAHAHAHAHA. Defense….that’s rich.
He forced Blatche to alter one shot, but that does not a good defensive effort make…

  52. Brian Cronin

I know he shoots a high percentage, but Gallo really ought to be automatic from the line. Missing one is lame, two is insane.

  53. Frank O.

Swear to god, this team started tanking when the trade rumors starting getting more intense.
This is simply a different team than they were in early december.

  54. Nick C.

That was classic…..Turiaf gets the ball, looks yo pass It off then realizes or is told the lane is open so drives and dunks.

  55. Michael Cline

And then Gallo goes and does that and shuts me up. Man, he is maddeningly inconsistent, but when he hits that 3 ball, we all love it

  56. Brian Cronin

Why aren’t they just force feeding Gallo.
I mean he can fucking score

Again, if he were ever the #1 option for a team, he would score sooooooooooooo many points. He wouldn’t be a better player, but he would score so much.

And yet here, he can’t even be the #3 option.

  57. Frank O.

Blatche looks like he may have played his pooch off finally.
He was pretty out of shape for a while there.

  58. Michael Cline

WHOA! How did STAT get away with that pushoff/charge? We’ll take it but that was clearly bullshit

  59. Michael Cline

The announcer just said that Chandler “has come out of his shooting slump.”

Looking at the box score and from an efficiency standpoint, is that really true?

  60. Frank O.

Michael Cline: The announcer just said that Chandler “has come out of his shooting slump.”Looking at the box score and from an efficiency standpoint, is that really true?

He’s almost at 50 percent from the field now. He started horribly, but has gotten much better as the night wore on.

  61. Frank O.

    Frank O.:
He’s almost at 50 percent from the field now. He started horribly, but has gotten much better as the night wore on.

    and he’s 4-8 from 3 pt.

  62. Robert Silverman

Here’s a question — why didn’t DC play Booker or Shakur in the 2nd half? Both were very good in the 1st. Not that I’m complaining, mind you…

  63. Spree8nyk8

Michael Cline: WHOA! How did STAT get away with that pushoff/charge? We’ll take it but that was clearly bullshit

yay so the tally for bullshit calls for the season

    For us-1
    Against us- 152

  64. Michael Cline

    Frank O.:
He’s almost at 50 percent from the field now. He started horribly, but has gotten much better as the night wore on.

Ok. I seriously didn’t know. I don’t have a boxscore up, and I missed the third quarter. WHen I left off watching, it seemed like he was really struggling

  65. Frank O.

    Michael Cline:
Ok. I seriously didn’t know. I don’t have a boxscore up, and I missed the third quarter. WHen I left off watching, it seemed like he was really struggling

Yeah, he was terrible early. Air balls, easy misses. it was ugly.

  66. rama

rama: I still think we’ll win this going away. Knicks were just reminded that they can’t take any team for granted – have to give full effort for all 48.  (Quote)

As said. We will win Thursday, too. Then become overconfident YET AGAIN and lose to Atlanta.

  67. Frank O.

Oh my. The wizards studio announcer, a middle aged dude, says, “I haven’t seen any thing look this bad on the road since my dog got run over by a fire truck.”
Then the woman, a pretty blonde, sitting next to him said, “Yeah, but you don’t have to look at your hair every night…”
The guy just stared at the screen like he had just been run over by a truck…
I don’t think I have ever seen a more devastating passive aggressive beat down on live TV.

and they just came back and while she is speaking he is insecurely smoothing his hair with his hand and tipping his head forward to see it on his monitor.
I’m not sure he will recover.

  69. d-mar

Hahn with a pretty funny comment on Twitter: “Andray Blatche would have been a perfect 2005-2009 Knick” So true.

  70. Z

Hahaha!! I thought the best part of reading this game thread would the part about the Knicks winning. Little did I know Frank’s play-by-play of the D.C. Post-game show would be the real highlight!

  71. BigBlueAL

Knicks finally win, we get no comments in the game thread. If Knicks wouldve lost tonight for sure there would already be close to 300 comments right now lol.
