Apparently so. Other than our old frenemy Jamal, Atlanta has a pretty non-descript bench. TD could have a field day, same with Felton if Bibby is “guarding” him. Go Knicks!

YES! I’ve been trying to tell people that it’s good luck to say Firsties! Congrats to you sir!

Keep trying the ATDHE link, sometimes they are slow getting the link actually up. It will work eventually though.

Gallo on Johnson “has to get over the screen with gusto” Good news bad news. Nice he gets the responsibility. Since then Felton scoring, 3, lay up and a give and go from Amare. Rest of the squad, meh. Turiaf just got a tip and now a shot stays down for Fields after a steal by Amare. Atlanta 9 of 13 with lots of jumpers.

Pretty sure the entire league got the email that Ronny was going to pass that ball there.

I didn’t have the cold but am 100% going with the hoodie!

It’s going to be funny when my greatest contribution to the forum becomes getting everyone to start the threads with “firsties!”

Granted it was going to be a long shot attempt but how does douglas not at least throw up a shot there to end the quarter? Shit like that bugs me.

  14. 14
    Nick C. says:

Down 10 Atlanta on fire outside, Knicks with not much movement on O. Hopefully the law of averages comes into effect with respect to Atlantas shooting and that their bench really does suck.

Mozgov, knowing he was going to fumble that pass, didn’t even try to catch it :)

TD fouls Jamal on a 3. Ugh

I kind of want to go Anchorman on DWTDD and say, “Maybe you should sit the next play out, Champ.”

  19. 19
    Nick C. says:

Moz at least makes some plays on D even tho they haven’t resulted in anything. 2 blocks, one which he rebounds the other Zaza put back, and a deflection.

  20. 20
    Nick C. says:

Friggin Gallo, shot off, goes 1 on 3 after a traffic rebound missing the guy running on the wing as well as the shot, and now gets backdoored (oops that sounds obscene)

  21. 21
    cwod says:

We look awful. Maybe they pick it up in the second half.

  22. 22
    Z says:

The Atlanta bench has never seen anyone dunk before.

We are allowing too many open looks for Atlanta

Ick. I can’t even say we’re getting hosed by the refs.

  26. 26
    Nick C. says:

It seems like all their shots have nobody within 3 feet of them, while the Knicks just stand around on offense after one pass.

  27. 27
    Robert Silverman says:

Tough to win when you score 14 points, scratch that 16 points in a quarter

We all know Spree hated early afternoon games. Apparently so does all the current Knicks players.

  29. 29
    d-mar says:

This is a game where so far not a single Knick is playing well, maybe Bill Walker for the 5 minutes he was out there. Need to get it down to single digits by the 4th quarter; I really hope this isn’t one of those games that ends with a chorus of boos.

I think Turiafs injury may be rather signifigant

    There ya go Raymond!

  32. 32
    BigBlueAL says:

At least the Knicks are fighting in the 2nd half. Yeah sucks about Turiaf, hopefully he can get healthy in a couple of weeks when the schedule gets real brutal.

  33. 33

d-mar: This is a game where so far not a single Knick is playing well

    Don’t forget Landry “Mini-Lee” Fields!

  34. 34

Maybe the Knicks should stop double teaming the Hawks

  35. 35
    CapB says:

Tony Douglas is just playing a terrific game out there today

  36. 36
    Robert Silverman says:

Chandler’s made some seriously tough runners out there

  37. 37
    CapB says:

Well at least they made it close

  38. 38
    Spree8nyk8 says:

See why doesn’t D’Antoni take that TO when the lead goes back to 9? It sounds trivial but he’s always late with the “regather” timeout, so instead we have a crappy possession and then the lead goes back to 11 instead of taking it at 9 and maybe getting it back down to 7.

  39. 39
    Robert Silverman says:

    They need Felton back, badly.

  40. 40
    Robert Silverman says:

    And Mini-Lee.

The Walker non-call was a makeup for the Smith call. I hate that

  41. 41
    Robert Silverman says:

Oh Jamal. I can’t quit you

  42. 42
    Robert Silverman says:

When Joe Johnson’s shooting 3-13 on the day, NO I don’t think you need to double him.

    Dumb

  43. 43
    Spree8nyk8 says:

    oh well streaks over…..

  44. 44
    Spree8nyk8 says:

Refs definitely hurt us this game, a lot of missed calls during that run, the knicks let it get to them too much but still, has to be said.

I disagree – just lousy officiating all around. It definitely interrupts continuity, but the Nix have gotten their share of turrbl calls too

  46. 46
    Nick C. says:

Jamal I can get, but Maurice Evans?? shake head. At least they didn’t use too much energy with another afternoon game tomorrow.

  47. 47
    Robert Silverman says:

Wait a moment. What’s that?…That’s Andy Rautins’ music!

Well I understand what you’re saying, but I think the calls they missed for the Knicks were baffling like hitting Walker on the forearm to the point where he misses by 4 feet, they were calls that left them standing there looking puzzled, and when you battle back from 20 down to get within 4 and then start having those kinda calls not be made I’m sure it gets in your head.

I am super worried about Turiafs injury though, if he goes down right now we are going to be in big trouble. We MUST stockpile wins right now. If we go 4-6 during that 10 game stretch starting on the 15th I’m going to be super happy, but they need to stockpile now because 3-7 2-8 is definitely possible. Being 3-4 games over .500 before we get there would be a major positive.

Nice pass from Randolph to Moz for the dunk.

w/o a doubt – need to keep getting wins.

On the bright side, Moz had a decent line (14 mins, 2-3, 5 points, 6 boards, 3 blocks). He’s going to need to step up if Ronny’s out for any length of time.

And I think it’s time to take AR out of the dustbin

  53. 53
    Z says:

Randolph’s 2 assists showed 2 things: good passing & good shot selection! (something to build on)

I have a feeling Turiaf will be out for a bit so AR and Mozgov will be getting some extra minutes I assume.

By good shot selection, are you referencing his zero FGAs today?

  56. 56
    Robert Silverman says:

Well, assuming Chandler moves to the starting lineup (and against the Pistons “bigs” — Ben Wallace, Maxiell, Villanueva, Monroe — you assume MD’A will go small), it leaves Chandler, Walker, and some Moz/Ar combo off the bench. There’s no low-post threats to deal w/tomorrow. Be great if Randolph could produce.

    Z-man says:

What are the boys doing the night before these games? Last matinee was a Knick stinker too! Room checks, anyone?

  58. 58
    nicos says:

Agree that Mozgov was one of the few bright spots- hands are still awful around the basket but played at the right energy level rather than worrying about fouling.
And AR did throw 2 nice passes- he’s a good enough passer to play a limited Turiaf-type role at the top of the key on offense at times but he’ll have to take and make the foul line jumper.
3 straight games where Gallo had trouble shaking tough defenders- let a few bumps off of the ball keep him from moving- he needs to do a better job and the Knicks need to set a few more back screens- something Turiaf does well but really no one else.
And Chandler’s shot selection so much better in the second half- so, so, so much better going to the basket- if he can still take Horford off of the dribble when Horford’s playing a couple steps off of him he should be able to get by most defenders.
