If we lose tonight and go 0-4 to cleveland this season not sure I can continue watching this team…please tell me it won[t happen…ordinarily I would only be pleased with a blowout over such a sad-sack squad….but given our history of losing 11 straight to cleveland I will take ANY victory possible over the cavs, sad as that may sound….even a melo buzzer beater.

  2. Spree8nyk8

Not to be an asshole but why do you even post this shit? I don’t mean there isn’t a chance that it couldn’t happen. But if it did you know that you’re not going to quit being a fan. Only Laker fans quit when the teams not good. If your a Knick fan it’s kind of a permanent thing.

  3. art vandelay

I don’t take umbrage with the comment, spree….I guess trying a reverse jinx so we do NOT lose…I have been a knick fan since I was 5 years old, basically….been going to games consistently and watching just about every one since…so OBVIOUSLY I am not going to really stop watching…just a measure of how embarrassing a loss would be…I don[t think nor want it to happen….even though I live in argentina now I don’t miss a game….I couldn’t be more of a permanent fan if one existed….anyone on this board who continues to follow the knicks after the last lost decade and total embarrasment due to isiah when it was a stigma to be a knicks fan is clearly permanent.

I’ll say it again. Guys, there’s no need to fight. Certs is a breath mint AND a candy!

  5. Owen

Art – Not to pile on here, but a master of the reverse jinx doesn’t reveal what he is doing. That causes a total reversal. If we lose, I am going to blame you.

Spree – What is your deal with calling out other posters and cursing? Can’t you just write normal posts?

Nice win for the Knuggets in LA….

  6. Starks

Although people will probably point out the Knuggets some time soon, its important to realize that we only notice when they do well. None of the many solid players on that team are consistently awesome, even the former Knicks. You can’t just get jeaous or wistful about the good stuff. There was plenty of bad in all the players we gave up.

  7. Max

Who watched the Knuggets? I love those guys… and Gallo missed 6 free throws! :-) Now let’s go clinching! :-D

Oh my bad man, next time i’ll put the /sarcasm so you get it……

  9. Robert Silverman

Anyhoo…I’m hoping for a good game from Fields. He hasn’t been very Landry recently

  10. Spree8nyk8

Seriously Owen, do you even read what I write, or do you just wait for me to post so you can whine about it? Bc if you actually take time to read stuff you might actually get the context of it.

  11. Robert Silverman

This is certainly the most I’ve heard “The Sabbath” mentioned in any NBA game

  12. Robert Silverman

BigBlueAL: So do we blame Melo for Fields’ horrible 1st quarter tonight??

Sarcasm (assumed) aside, Fields has just missed 4 shots he normally cans. He’s getting to the rim, active — I wouldn’t call it horrible at all.

Actually, I blame myself for jinxing him in the comment thread

  13. art vandelay

I think we are finally seeing the healthy billups for the first time since he was injured in orlando….looking much more spry.

    Better than “spry”. En fuego!

Obviously I was being sarcastic :-)

Only thing that was frustrating though was how he would lose Parker and trail him by 10 feet off of screens lol.

  16. art vandelay

excellent defensive energy…and playing the old SSOL pace….I like it! best first quarter at home I have seem them play in a long time.

  17. BigBlueAL

Whenever Amar’e or Melo come off that curl in the paint, its an automatic layup/dunk.

  18. IMissWillis

Anyone know a site where I can get a live stream of the game? We’re actually beating Cleveland and it’s killing me not being able to watch it live

  19. CRJoe

Not really enjoying the whole “stop and pop” 3 pointers so early on the shot clock… I mean right now they’re falling, I just hope we don’t keep chucking ‘em all game long…

  20. ess-dog

And now they look better. Amare only takes 17 footers now? Don’t think I like that.

  21. Z

At the rate Amar’e is aging, he’s going to look like Leon Russell by the end of this season…

  22. CRJoe

Well great game so far from the Knicks, kinda looks like Cleveland sux on d… 7-10 on threes??? Now that’s just rude…

  23. Frank O.

Max: Who watched the Knuggets? I love those guys… and Gallo missed 6 free throws! :-)Now let’s go clinching! :-D

Knuggets were awesome. they will go deep I think.
Gallo was a beast, but after scoring 18 in the first half, only four thereafter.
And Felton, while playing a great second half nearly blew the game at the end with a few ill advised shots and a near turnover, that should have been a turnover.
Either way, the Knuggets have it going…

  24. SeeWhyDee77

Sittin here watchin the game an I realized what my biggest problem with the Knicks is..finally. It’s not the lack of depth, true center, the insidious reliance on the 3 pointer (this ain’t college) or the lack of overall rebounding. It’s mentality. If the players don’t have that certain mentality, then the coaches have got to instill it in them..basically force them to develop that certain mentality. I’m not talkin about killer instinct. Let me explain. A few minutes ago, Stat was on the floor with Extra E, Douglas, Walker and JJ. I think I got the lineup correct. Anyway, Stat’s the only big man on the floor rite? What does he do? Launch a 18 footer with no rebounders on the floor with him. See what i’m sayin? Mentality. In that situation Stat should be licking his chops at the opportunity to kill Cleveland inside as he has the skillset to do so. Not to mention the body and athleticism. Rite then and there, D’Antoni should be directin Stat to post up. If Stat won’t recognize the opportunity, then it has to be force fed. That’s how a dominant swag/attitude begins. I mean seriously! Stat was the biggest and best player on the floor and he doesn’t post up against a smaller, weaker Cavs D? All the while he had 3 shooters to space the floor..i’m just sayin. Same goes with defense. If the players aren’t already invested on the defensive end, then coach em up to habitually get into defense!! I like Mike D..but dude gotta start really coachin and not let the inmates run the asylum. I’m not sayin take away the freedom becuz thas what makes the ssol great. But where’s the accountability? Am I crazy to expect that?

  25. CRJoe

Oh come on, how on earth do we allow Samuardo Samuels an offensive board on a free throw??? Guy averages 2 Off boards a game and he already has 3… And on a freaking free throw!?

  26. CRJoe

So.. Their bench has more points, assists, rebounds (off rebs too), steals and is shooting far more efficiently than ours, our bench has less turnovers…. And yet, plus minus is ridiculously in favor of our bench, thoughts on that??? Their bench has played about 8 more min that ours…

  27. art vandelay

I understand why Amare should take the ball to the rack in that situation facing a smaller cleveland frontcourt…but he certainly is not going to post…he doesn[t post up…not his game…they should run the curl for him in that situation or give him the ball on the free throw line extended elbow and let him go to work like they used to do prior to the melo trade with much success.

  28. John Kenney

When’s te last time landry had a flying dunk?

also, toney douglas just hustled his ass off forcing that turnover after running back downcourt from out of bounds and on top of a cameraman. great stuff.

  29. Max

    BigBlueAL:
Yeah, this is starting to get real worrisome.

Don’t know if it’s “rookie wall” or “trade’s effect” or whatever, but Fields seems totally lost…

I agree that rookie Wall looks totally lost.

  31. Max

    Max:
Please don’t jinx Wall, Wizards’re beating the Hornets :-D

the Charlotte Hornets… 90′s nostalgia :-DDDDD

  32. BigBlueAL

However they made it and with whoever they made it with, its still good to finally be back in the playoffs!!!!

  33. Dan Panorama

Playoffs! I still can’t believe it. I can only imagine where everyone was in their lives the last time this happened — I remember watching the Knicks-Nets series from my college dorm freshman year thinking the team had a bright future despite the sweep. Whoops.

Seriously, I don’t know how I’d have gotten through the last seven seasons without this blog and these commenters — even if it’s a quick first round exit, it’s so amazing to not be trading endless threads on draft positioning at this point in the year for a change.

  34. Jake S.

I missed the game tonight, how did Amar’e look? Did he get up and down the court in a timely fashion?

  35. Robert Silverman

Jake S.: I missed the game tonight, how did Amar’e look? Did he get up and down the court in a timely fashion?

Meh. Mainly settled for jumpers. Blocked some shots.

  36. BigBlueAL

I thought Amar’e certainly looked alot better tonight than the previous few games in terms of his athleticism and quickness.

  37. art vandelay

Amare’s game was ok, not great….but I do give him credit for going for a few blocks when he had 3 fouls mid-way through the 3rd quarter when he was in jeopardy of getting his 4th foul…really he doesn[t deserve credit for this, but it is progress for him to not just let guys score the ball for fear of getting into foul trouble…

just the fact that he was jumping and contesting shots was an improvement for me over his last few games when he looked deadlegged.

  38. d-mar

Jeffries a +26 tonight in 26 minutes. That’s pretty hard to do when you score 0 points.

  39. latke

so shaq got hurt again for all you “celtics are our best matchup” people. Just a calf strain, but he supposedly looked pretty bad walking off the court.

  40. Z-man

What’s this talk about Eddy Curry joining the Cavs for the playoffs? I thought teams couldn’t add players this late and have them playoff-eligible…

Curry joining the Cavs for the playoffs is crazy talk. :)
He may join the Heat though as a FA signee.

  42. BigBlueAL

Must say, Billups looking healthy is getting me somewhat excited again for the Knicks chances of giving Boston/Miami a decent scare in the 1st round.

  43. ess-dog

Congrats KBers. This has been a long time coming. Hats off to Mr. Walsh and Mr. D’Antoni. Now let’s kick some Heat/Magic/Celtic/Bull ass!

I think we were all a little harsh on the guy during that bad stretch; it’s obvious now that the Howard knee set him back a lot, and he’s been a different player the last few games. He will be a big key for the playoffs.

  45. Brian Cronin

As for Curry, teams can add players to their playoff roster right up until the very last day of the season. The player in question just can’t have been on another team’s roster on March 1st. Curry was not.

Yes, but can we first play “Godfather One” and put a contract on Dolan’s table and a gun to Dolan’s head? Then, once he re-signs Donnie, we shoot anyway?

Or would that be considered mean?

  47. art vandelay

Let’s see now if Dolan re-upps Walsh since we have qualified for the playoffs…I was HOPING that was why he was holding out this long….I continue to hope he doesn[t wait until april 30th to make an announcement.

  48. The Honorable Cock Jowles

Last time the Knicks made the playoffs, I had just lost my virginity.

This is going to be a great way to celebrate my 40th birthday!!!!!!!!!!
