I don't know how useful Carter will be against other teams, he could defend Wade specifically because he'd seen him so much in practice when they were teammates. Mason really seems like he should be the one to go when Jeffries is signed, him or Rautins.

and free Corey Brewer!

Really liked what I saw on the defensive end last night. everyone on this board has been harping on Melo for his lack of defense but last night he delivered big time on both ends. His presence on the defensive end motivated guys like Billy Walker to play excellent defense....r u serious? Billy Walker was playing D thats fantastic. If Melo Amare and Billups continue to bring it every night the rest of the guys will undoubtedly follow. Count me in as thinking this team can be dangerous if they continue to mesh and get it together on offense for an entire game. Lets go knicks !!!!!

Bill Walker +22!! He had a career game last night. Also, could Walsh be holding up on signing Barron because he wants a shot a Murphy? I mean it seems logical to me...

Why does Roger Mason keep being active instead of Rautins or Brewer. Makes no sense to me.

They could field a defensive unit of Carter, Brewer, TD, Balkman and Turiaf. If they can force some TOs and put pressure it might make things interesting and if not then swap in Melo or Amare.

Brewer was inactive but as far as I know he was playing with Minnesota right up till the trade.

Anthony Carter? Who knew? The guy really looked great spelling Billips. Great active defense. When he and Balk were included in the trade, I was pissed since I figured it was two more bookends taking space on the bench. Happily surprised. Balk had at least a couple of really unnecessary fouls, but liked how he was active as well. Still looks like a project however.

Is Brewer injured? Didn't even see him on the bench.

Last night on Mik'ed Up (and it should really be called Bruce'd up, since Mike hasn't been on for like a month) the 2 guests were Berman and Wojonarski. I'm sure the two of them had their typically negative spiels prepared ahead of time, and it was funny listening to them improvise on the fly and try and say something positive after the Knicks victory.

The bandwagon is standing room only, at least for today.

I have to say I think it's unfair to call out D'Antoni, IMHO.
The Knicks just played one of their grittiest defensive games in years, with D'Antoni squeezing every last ounce of effort out of reserve defenders, and someone says he's not the guy to lead this team. Just not fair, but there will always be people with differing views.
I think Walsh has put together an interesting mix of players.
He's got a few defensively focused players, something they lacked before. They have a mix of veterans and young guys, but their two best players are in their primes.
The fact is, you need to great scorers and a field general.
Then the rest of the guys need to focus on defense, hit shots occasionally and rebound.
They are still weak on the boards. But they have defenders now.
I think Landry is going to become a 3 pt shooter for this team, but that will affect his board work.
I predict they will have a lot of trouble against the Magic for lack of a big man, but the other pieces on the Magic are weak. Amazing how badly the Magic has managed its cap.

I believe D'Antoni's brother is the ostensible "defensive coordinator" for the Knicks, and I don't believe he will be okay with replacing his own brother.
