New York had a laugher in their last meeting, and given their recent slide they could use another breather. The Wolves are bad at just about everything, save for rebounding. New York is a substandard rebounding team, ranking 23rd on defense and 27th on offense. Last night the Knicks allowed the Wizards to grab 24 offensive boards, so this could be an area that Minnesota tries to exploit. Meanwhile the orange & blue need to beat up on the soft Timberwolves defense, as Minny is the league’s worst team with regards to opponents eFG (allowed 52.1%). A good shooting night for New York and limiting Minnesota’s second chances seem like the keys to victory tonight.

    Ted Nelson says:

Van Gundy mentioned points per possession as the ultimate measure of team defense during the Lakers-Celtics game, to which Mark Jackson quickly responded that he didn’t care and the Celtics are not as good defensively as they were because they don’t rebound well…

The more I listen to Mark Jackson, the more I am thrilled New York didn’t bring him in as coach.

Mark Jackson is possibly my least favorite nationally broadcast announcer: a living, breathing cliche machine who brings nothing to the table and, frankly, isn’t terribly smart.

Just because the man is passionate about the game and was a player doesn’t qualify him for a head coaching job. But hey, he’s part of the jockocracy, so somebody will hire him.

I am getting mighty burned out on the Knicks. The Wizards game was a pathetic display.

    Amen

I’m glad you beat me to the game thread tonight. I had such a rant/preview ready to go. I talked junk all week to the folks here in D.C. about how this Knick team was on the cusp of something too bad it was the cusp of a garbage can. What an awful showing. And I have a feeling tonight is part deux.

Jared Jeffries – “Just give me the damn ball!!!”

    Thomas B. says:

Yeah, these are the Knicks I’ve come to know over the past ten years.

    Get jj the ball!!

    Z says:

Harrington didn’t even dress for the game, yet he’s was still put on the active list over Milicic. Does Darko even travel with the team anymore??

P.S.: This is one of the least entertaining games I’ve watched in a while…

    Thomas B. says:

so the people watching this game are the refs?

    BigBlueAL says:

Nice to see Im not the only idiot watching this game :-)

    BigBlueAL says:

Duhon is 0 for the season in heat check 3pters.

  13. 13
    Mike Kurylo says:

Last I read Darko hasn’t been with the team since December. A shame on both parts. The Knicks might have used his interior defense. And Darko could have rejuvenated his NBA career.

  14. 14
    BigBlueAL says:

    Chandler just posterized Jeffries.

  15. 15
    Mike Kurylo says:

Eh gads the Timberwolf defense is so bad, Chandler had a drive to the hoop that led to a big dunk – and the guy he had to dunk over was his own teammate Jared Jeffries. Nary a Minnesotan in sight.

  16. 16
    BigBlueAL says:

Gallo is shooting like Jeffries used to shoot and Jeffries is shooting like Gallo used to shoot.

  17. 17
    BigBlueAL says:

I remember the good old days when Nate used to be an offensive spark off the bench.

    Z says:

“Last I read Darko hasn’t been with the team since December. A shame on both parts. The Knicks might have used his interior defense. And Darko could have rejuvenated his NBA career.”

Yeah– what the heck happened there. I actually liked what I saw Darko in the few minutes he played early this season. Too bad nothing worked out with that. (Who is to blame??)

  19. 19
    Jeff says:

If the Knicks don’t make a move by the trade deadline, I’m done with the season. I don’t even care what the trade is.

  20. 20
    BigBlueAL says:

Jordan Hill is a worse finisher at the rim than Jeffries.

  21. 21
    BigBlueAL says:

I think Nate wants to be benched again, it is the only possible explanation for his absolutely horrendous game tonight.

  22. 22
    latke says:

Man, at least Al Harrington did some good things. Jordan Hill and Bender are limited offensive players (they need someone to set up their shot), and they are mistake-prone.

  23. 23
    Thomas B. says:

Wow. So, let’s all get together again next November and try this again. See ya 11/2010.

  24. 24
    Z says:

Whoa! Are we going to lose this game by 20?

  25. 25
    BigBlueAL says:

Nah Thomas, see you back here on July 1st where he will actually have something good to look forward to/talk about.

  26. 26
    BigBlueAL says:

WOW, the Knicks bench tonight scored 8 pts on 3 for 19 shooting, including Nate and his 1 for 10 on all jumpers/3pters performance.

Welp, back to being glad I missed a game because of work. I think I’d be a broken shell of a fan/man if I’d been able to watch every game I wanted to for the past 10 years.

Here’s my prediction. Knicks win 8 out of 11 in February and they also beat Cleveland. Count it.

    Z says:

My eight year old son watched the first quarter of the game tonight. During it he declared “Jeffries is my favorite Knick”.

First I laughed, not sure I’d ever heard such an idiotic statement in all my life.

Then I got sad that the rest of the team was looking so bad that an eight year old could pick out “Mr. Cellophane” as the best player on the floor.

Then I got even sadder that my son’s favorite Knick was going to be traded in less than three weeks, and I’d be the one who’d have to break the news to him…

  31. 31
    BigBlueAL says:

Tell your son Jeffries aint no Anthony Bonner!!!!

While I’m sorry you’re going to have to do that (and boy do I remember what that’s like as a kid when your favorite player gets traded), I honestly hope that you do have to do that (as I don’t know how good the odds are that it’ll actually happen).

  33. 33
    greatscott says:

Nate is showing why he is one of the NBA’s biggest losers again. Off the bench he makes his first shot, then misses the next nine, shooting 1-for-10 for the game.

  34. 34
    jon abbey says:

Jeffries had 3 blocks, 3 made 3 point FGs, and 3 charges drawn. that can’t happen very often, can anyone check the last time? maybe Shane Battier has done it?

  35. 35
    Z says:

“I honestly hope that you do have to do that”

    I do too.

So badly I’d gladly throw the kid in as a sweetener.

    slovene knick says:

    it’s Donnie time.
Hope he plays it better than his Team!

  37. 37
    Droidz1979 says:

yeah, Donnie definitely needs to do his part. A future pick, a decent and cheap PG in exchange for expiring contracts would surely do. And i do hope its not T-Mac since he would only steal minutes from Gallo and Chandler and hinder any progress that they are currently showing…

  38. 38
    slovene knick says:

    The goal was:
1.minimal cap hold in 2010(almost done)
    2.Build a contender….well this one is a bit more complicated tan nr.1.

Lakers, Boston, Orlando, Lebron(is the roster himself) have rosters/ are contenders….Donnie will have to do some real management masterpiece to get to that level.
