Just like the picture of Dukakis in the tank that Papa George used to defeat him, we see the manly picture of the fearsome Chandler turning back defenders and think this is the man to defend our paint/ country. But just as our country rues the decision for the belicose Bush, the man who began our ruinous forays into nation building, the Knick fan now sees how we could have kept a boy named Camby at one time as well.

I’m not an expert on the salary cap rules, but let’s say the knicks trade all there expirings before february to bring in some longer contracts and end up over/at the cap before FA season starts this summer. Wouldn’t that mean they could then go over the cap to sign wilson chandler (due to bird rights)?

And regardless we could still do a sign and trade with chandler which might net us a useful asset or two.

Z: DeAndre Jordan is tough to figure out.

Jordan is an offensive zero. The reason his TS% is so high is because he only shoots the ball from right under the rim. He could maybe be a steven hunter type player — only playing when the knicks need someone to defend a big man, but in that case I’m not sure if he has much more potential than Mozgov. I suppose he’s a better rebounder. Regardless, he’s not worth more than 2-3 million.

Robert Silverman: What you need is a young player who does many of the things Turiaf does (block shots, only shoot on dunks/layups, be a solid passer from the high post) and is a better rebounder/more athletic than Ronny.

Agreed. The problem with randolph though is that he’s just too weak to guard centers. He’s listed right now at 205 lbs, whereas turiaf is 250. I think that he would be getting mozgov’s minutes in spite of his deficiencies if he put on 15-20 pounds. Hell, Chandler even has 15 lbs on Randolph.
