Ok I think its time for the Knickerblogger to address some of the frustration thats in many of us because of the lack of news coming out of MSG. Maybe Donnie is playing his cards close but at least do an interview to reassure the fans. Tickets are going to go on sale soon and we want something to see when we get there. Jeez....there must be light at the end of this tunnel.

It won't be full desperation until you see articles penned by myself analyzing and contrasting the virtues of the Daleks' plans of Universal domination with those of signing Mouhamed Sene or Cheikh Samb to another 10 day contract or some other esoterically premised obscure shit pickle like that. At that point we will know the lack of Knickerblogger banter has reached its desperation point.

KnickfaninNJ:

You make some good points and, I think, they reflect the complexity of grading individual players on a team.

I also think expressing opinions in such a manner is useful for driving readership, and so I don't discourage it. :)
It's pretty fascinating to see what people latch onto. I was fascinated that I was advocating for Jared Jeffries and against Harrington.
I think by nature, I find one-dimensional players destructive to teams, which is why Harrington and Curry bug me. And people hated Zach, a 20-10 guy, because he did only two things.
I'm also deeply suspicious of a sport that generally doesn't do a good job creating stats on the defensive end. Of course, it has only been in recent years that teams have paid attention to advanced stats.

Frank O.

I actually think the players deserve a somewhat higher average grade than the teams grade. Some of the badness of the team was not the player's fault. For example the team was very short of guards for a while because of the trade for Mobley who then couldn't play. The team also had both James and Curry injured, so they were short on centers. And the trades of Randolph and Crawford, set the team back until all the new players got used to playing with each other. These circumstances definitely hurt the teams record and were not the players fault. Mostly the players played hard. So I would say the players should average at least a C even if the team averaged a D.

"How about “Who deserves a lower grade?”"

Coming...

"Why is Danilo not on the list ? – if i remember his report card gave him no grade ?"

Yeah I kinda messed up not giving him a grade. But in the end if I really think about it, that's what I would have given him anyway. It's not just the low number of minutes he played, but how limited he was physically when playing. And I don't think that an Incomplete is a grade that could/should be included in a list for higher/lower.

"how does gallo get an incomplete …but curry get an F when curry played in 3 games and 12 minutes ….while danilo played in 28 games and 44 minutes?"

Again part of the grade is expectations. It's reasonable to want more from an 8 year vet who was once hailed by ownership as a "franchise center" than a 20 year old rookie from Europe.

Put it this way, I'd give a former wanna be honors student who cut classes to hang out at the corner an F, while I could give that foreign exchange student who was only around for a month and had a hard time understanding the language (but aced his science scores) an Incomplete.

"Mike, I was looking forward to Report Cards for D’Antoni and Walsh. Not in the plans?"

I think Wilcox and Jeffries both deserve higher grades. I voted Wilcox in the poll above because I think D'Antoni misused him to some extent by playing him out of position.

Curry, Jerome James and Marbury were the only Knicks from last season that I think truly deserved an 'F.'

Also, I don't remember what grade Q received. If it any higher than a 'C-,' he's my candidate for a lower grade.
