How was Jeffries ever a SF? He’s less coordinated than Hibbert.
I wish we could play 2 on 2 with Duhon and Lee…

  2. Owen

Dred – Roberson appearance confirmed. Doesn’t look terrible out there tonight. Perhaps the other nights when he didn’t play it was just a “matchup” issue.

    Bad turnover by Chandler…

I don’t mind Tripucka. He isn’t that bad. Or am I wrong?

  3. Owen

Ah, the smooth stroke of Al Harrington. Ten feet in the air off the back iron, then nothing but net…

  4. DRed

    From wiki:

In a game between the Hornets and the Jazz in 1989, not long after Layden resigned as the Jazz coach, Karl Malone expressed his devotion to Layden by writing “FRANK” on the heels of his sneakers. In a mock gesture, Tripucka responded by writing “DICK” on the back of his shoes (for then-Hornets coach Dick Harter). The move was seen as a jab at Layden and Malone, who Tripucka felt ran him out of Utah.

  5. Gorky

I freaking hate Jeffries on offense. Can he just play on one side of the ball?

Also, David Lee is really bad at defense. I never noticed it before the D’Antoni era.

no, Tim Thomas is out and D’Antoni has belatedly realized that playing only 6 or 7 guys is a bad idea, no matter how bad his other options are.

haven’t seen any of this one yet, I don’t think I can watch a team that Jeffries is starting for.

  7. Gorky

And then he airmails the ball into the stands, never fails…

That was a really nice pick and roll with Duhon, but then Lee threw it away. Way to crush my hopes so well.

  8. Owen

Ahh, horrible turnover by Harrington. Tried a fancy dribble and travelled.

This is such a frustrating team and game to watch.

  9. Thomas B.

Um guys, I know you are little busy playing the game but I just wanted to remind you that there are shots you can take other than 3 pointers. You can post or drive. You could even draw a foul while attempting a lay up.

    Yes, a lay up.

What? You can’t be serious. Okay a lay up is a shot taken very near the basket, it is a high pecentage shot.

No, it’s not worth three points. That isnt the point. The point is that it is a high percentage shot that can give you points or draw fouls.

What? You cant be serious. Okay you draw a foul when…

  10. BK

The turnovers are just killing us tonight, plus it looks like bad Wilson showed up.

Yet somehow we’re still in it…because it’s the Pacers. This game still sucks.

  11. Owen

Go New York Go New York Go!

Nate really did some good stuff there, steal, then drew a great charge…

  12. Thomas B.

Like the announcers keep saying, the Pacers give away a lot of games in the 4th.

Yeah well so have the Knicks.

  13. Owen

Then Chandler heaves up that shot from just inside the 3 point line that I hate so much, and cans it. Maybe tonight is our night. The Pacers sure don’t deserve to win….

  14. BK
Like the announcers keep saying, the Pacers give away a lot of games in the 4th.

Yeah well so have the Knicks.

This game is really the irresistible force against the immovable object. The Pacers blow a ton of 4th quarter leads, and we rarely make up big deficits late. Should be an eventful final few minutes.

  15. Gorky

GOD, that stupid spin move by Harrington!!! Drives me frickin’ crazy…

That’s his go-to move. It never fails.

  16. jon abbey

I’m telling you guys, join me on the rooting for more ping pong balls bandwagon, it’s much more enjoyable.

  17. Thomas B.

    To quote Luke Skywalker:

    “I’ll never join you!”

  18. Thomas B.

Indy with an eFg% of 50. The Knicks’ defense has to do much better. As soon as we can sign ten day contracts Walsh has to find a body that is willing to block shots AND who can run up court a few times without drawing breath harder than Darth Vader. An efficient back up point would be nice too.

  19. Gorky

To be fair, jeffries has blocked 3 shots per game for past few games.

To be fairer, Jeffries struggles to dribble or put in point blank open layups.

  20. BK

Wow, Vince Carter just canned a 30 footer at the buzzer to beat the Hawks…

Two amazing plays at the end of that game — the strip of Harris to give the Hawks the lead, and then the game-winner by Carter.

Similar finish in OKC — Durant makes a sick 3 fading away with a couple of seconds left to give the Thunder the lead, then Anthony makes a corner 3 with a tenth of a second left to win it.

  21. mase

still trying to figure out d’antoni’s decision not
To put jeffries On Jack for the last possesion?

  22. Gorky

still trying to figure out d’antoni’s decision not
To put jeffries On Jack for the last possesion?

Or not to put anyone on Jack?

  23. Thomas B.

maybe D’antoni expected jack to regress to the mean. jack had been very hot all game-he had to be due to miss one eventually. It’s simple mathmatics people.

  24. d-mar

The Knicks are about to head deep into the 10+ games under .500 abyss with probable losses in 4 out of their next 5 games. It’s easy to say losing is a good thing as far as the draft goes, but for us season ticket holders who actually have to go to games, rooting for losses is just not an option. Plus, aren’t we supposed to be building something here, not just accumulating picks (which we don’t have in 2010 anyway)?

Agree with posters that Tripucka is an upgrade from Clyde.

  25. mase

“maybe D’antoni expected jack to regress to the mean. jack had been very hot all game-he had to be due to miss one eventually. It’s simple mathmatics people.”

    is this sarcasm?

  26. 2010

    Gian,

id like to nominate the play at the end of the game with 24 sec left when jack went to the basket untouched for the SSOM breakdown.

#9 on the Dime has some details about the possible Denver/Knicks trade involving Lee:http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-090103-04

As this deal is reported it would be Lee for Atkins (in a salary dump) and two first rounders. As far as I can tell, Denver traded their 2008 pick before making it to Charlotte meaning they would need a 2009 pick. They also have a conditional 1st round pick from Charlotte that looks like wont happen until at least 2011. So 2 first rounders probably means Denver’s pick in 2010 and (the better of Denver’s/ Charlotte’s picks in 2011 if they have two) or (Denvers pick in 2012 or better of Denver’s/ Charlotte’s picks in 2012 if they have two) sorry if that’s confusing.

Basically it would be Denver’s pick in 2010 and Charlotte’s in 2011.

That’s not very exciting and really would kill the knicks now and would not really help the knicks for a long time. It would really help Denver who gets to dump salary now and get under lux tax and add a great role player to make a playoff run.

I think this trade will be available all the way to the deadline and that walsh can do better. Even if Denver throws in kliza, walsh should wait. I think he has to look at another team who can give him a 2009 and 2011 pick or a 2009 pick and a prospect.

One thing to remember- if lee is traded, that team will likely improve and their draft pick will likely get worse. Meanwhile, the knicks would probably get significantly worse and their own draft pick would get much better.

  28. 2010

Of course, whether or not the knicks should trade lee at all is debatable.

knicks are going to have a tough time signing lee this summer if they are trying to protect 2010 cap space. He is well regarded throughout the league and he is putting up great stats since the Randolph trade.

So if they are not going to keep him past this season, then what could they get in return? Because he is going to become a restricted free agent, the only teams that would benefit from having him are playoff teams that could use him as either a starter or backup or a team that plans on signing him long term even if it has to match an offer sheet. That makes the most likely destination (or the team that he has the most value to) a team that is a playoff contender whose cap space is already shot. He can help them this year and they don’t have to worry about overpaying him a little.

The best things we could get in return are draft picks and/or prospects. Because the likely destination is a playoff team, it would be late picks.

However, if they trade him they will have a tough time continuing to pretend they are competitive. The knicks can always resign him (matching if they have to) and keep him or resign him and trade him later.

As much as I like him, I’d trade him before the deadline.

Sarcasm, from me? I’m shocked that you would even need to ask.

After watching D Wade completely take over the game against the Nets, including 2 ridiculous blocks of Lopez inside, I would gladly take him as a consolation prize in the LeBron Sweepstakes. The guy is playing at an unbelievable level this year.

Honestly, Im not even looking at LBJ or Wade because I dont think they will leave their teams. Im more looking at players like Bosh and Joe Johnson. That would be a great duo to sign. Even someone like Amare or even Tyson Chandler would be good too.

These Lee trade rumors keep popping up.

IMO, he’s one of the few players on the team that it makes sense to keep around for the long haul. However, his value is soaring. That’s and plus and minus. It’s a plus in that if we trade him we may be able to get back more in Intrinsic Value than we give up. It’s a negative in that if we want to keep him it may cost us more than he’s actually worth.

Personally, I think it makes less sense to trade him now than it did when we had Zach, but if we get back the right pieces and/or picks you have to do what you have to do.

I think Wade and James are the two best players in the league. The only problem I have with Wade is that his style leads me to believe he’s not going to last as long as some other great players. The injuries could become a problem a couple of years earlier.

If Lee is dealt to the Blazers, KB may as well change the name of this site to “BlazerBlogger”. Lee would like the trade though– he’d get to play on a great team with his best friend.

Oh, and if you scroll down in the comments section, someone posted this:

“I haven’t been able to confirm this from my clippers source yet…the trade will send Marcus Camby and Channing Frye back to the Knicks along with Deandre Jordan from a trade exception, Jerryd Bayless and Jason Hart. The Trail Blazers will receive David Lee and Anthony Roberson from the Knicks and Brian Skinner and Ricky Davis from the Clippers.
The Clippers will receive Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose and Sergio Rodriguez. One source has said the trade should be complete by next week. All salaries/.roster spots work out for all teams….”

Not sure if this is cut and pasted by ATrain over at Bleacher Report, but it kind of sounds like his work…

I’m for this trade but it has fake written all over it. Why would the Blazers trade away all of their PG depth and why would they want Ricky Davis? And if I’m not mistaken, Ricky Davis will still be out for a significant amount of time.

…and why would anyone want Q-Rich?

  37. Z

“…and why would anyone want Q-Rich?”

Agreed, it sounds fake. BUT: Fred Jones just got the start today against the Pistons as the Clipper’s point guard. They are definitely at a point where, after spending more money in the offseason than they ever had before, they have to decide if they are buyers or sellers. They’d save money in the scenario suggested above which is something Donald Sterling likes even more than winning.

  38. jon abbey

it seems like Lee should be worth more than that, maybe not. if we could move Curry or Jeffries in the deal, it would look a lot more appealing to me.

“BUT: Fred Jones just got the start today against the Pistons as the Clipper’s point guard. ”

sprained his ankle in the first and questionable to return, they’ve got seven guys hurt now.

Yeah I kind of assumed that NYK would get Portland’s 1st rounder as well in that trade…

I don’t know. Bayless for Lee alone doesn’t seem horrible. One is on a rookie contract for the next few years, the other is set to damage 2010 payroll. It’s not all that different from trading Lee in June for a lottery pick.

I agree with Gian, though. Why would the Blazers want Ricky Davis, or even Brian Skinner? Seems that they’d be just as happy with a straight up trade with the Knicks. How about this:

Blazers get: Lee, Jeffries, Robinson, and Marbury

Knicks get: Bayless, Frye, Rodriguez, Przybilla, and LaFrentz.

Blazer’s get their guy in Lee, plus Robinson who they can decide to resign if they like or let go for nothing if they don’t. With the expendable Pyrzbilla and Stephon coming off their books, they are being fiscally responsible too.

The Knicks get a few young pieces that Portland doesn’t seem to have much use for. Pyrzbilla runs through 2010, but he’s actually a center who is good, which is probably worth paying for. Plus they get to hit the “reset” button with regards to salary extensions, letting their restricted free agents go for cheaper players who aren’t going to affect the 2010 cap.

I think I prefer this deal to the fake three way deal with the Clips. What about you guys (Caleb?!).
