Al I'm not so sure about all this "without Jamal and Zach" we have problems late in games without a go-to scorer. Since Jamal came here the NYK have stunk overall and had a knack for bumbling down the stretch. Having both of them last year, albeit with you know who coaching, didnt't help. Between them they have played about 10 or so seasons with not a single winning record between them so I didn't see where they get this patina of being necessary for a team to win.

Hey Ben R I want to apologize because I hope I didnt sound to stupid and came on too strong ripping Lee and your post. Unlike baseball where I have vast knowledge of sabermetrics and such in basketball I dont look at stats beyond the basics as much as I should, although being an ESPN Insider I do like reading John Hollinger and becoming more aware of more analytical basketball stats.

I LOVE this site because it is the only Knicks Fan's Blog site I have found on the net worth reading every day. Unlike the Yankees' who have a bunch, I always read RAB on a daily basis, I have a hard time talking with Knicks fans since I live in Miami so I have come to like this site alot and especially venting on game threads.

I buy the League Pass every year, well at least the past 3 since I have had Comcast Digital Cable, and still live and die with every Knicks game even when they always lose and knowing losing would be better for their draft status. Im 28 yo and as I mentioned grew up with the Riley/Van Gundy Knicks and remember a time when the Knicks had a better chance of winning a championship than the Yankees. I want as desperate as anybody else here to see this team return to prominence, and just hope/pray that Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni are the duo to lead this team back there and the Summer of 2010 hopefully is the time for that to happen....

BigBlueAl - Lee is who he is, which is a very good player. Even if he is done improving and simply maintains averages of almost 16 pts and 12 rebs per 36 while shooting over 60% TS% that makes him a pretty special player. The fact is he is probably not even done improving since he is only 25 and his scoring average both per game and per 36 has gone up every season since his rookie year.
In fact over the last three years only 3 players (D. Howard, T. Chandler, D. Lee) have had a season in which they averaged over 10 points and 10 rebounds while maintaining a TS% of over 60% and Lee has done it twice.
I am down on the Knicks too but Lee is much better than Wilson Chandler will ever be and I would be absolutely shocked if Gallinari ever comes close.

Look I have praised David Lee alot this season because he has improved his offense alot in terms of hitting that baseline jumper a bit more consistantly and being able to drive more often w/o getting his shot sent into the stands. But his numbers to me are a huge reflection of this system and Randolph being traded. Defensively he is still horrible and is not going to be anywhere near worth what his salary will most likely reach if you are trying to put together a championship caliber team.

I dont know why some fans here are trying to put down Wilson Chandler. He is 21 yo playing in his 2nd year after basically getting no playing time his rookie year and only playing 2 years in college. You cant tell me he will never come close to what David Lee is as a player, because you cant compare their talent/skill level because in that aspect David Lee doesnt come close to Chandler or most players in the NBA for that matter.

Again I like David Lee and dont like ripping him, but please he is not a starting PF on a championship team. He is what his and Nate's role should be, 20-25 minute players who bring energy off the bench. Those players are very important on good teams, but they are easier to find than go-to, superstar type players which is clearly what the Knicks are lacking and have lacked since Houston/Spree were together.

I lived and died with the Knicks starting in 1991 so to me those teams under Riley and Van Gundy is what I know, and heck still today I try to download as many games from those teams I can find online or watch the Knicks History DVD just to I can remember how it was to watch a Knicks winning team. Watching this current team and every team since Van Gundy left has killed me and I think has made fans become so desperate to root foe good teams/players that we start praising players who really arent that good.

Like I said I believe Chandler has the potential to become a very good player because of his age and the fact he is only in his 2nd season. But as I said earlier, there is not 1 player on this current roster who would be a starter on a championship-level team, and those are the type of players this team needs to acquire and obviously that is what the summer of 2010 is all about....

theres still plenty of room on the tank-the-season band wagon

I think it's been said here before, but as bad as we've been lately, this is a very difficult season to tank. I know the weekly Power Ratings generated by most pundits/websites generally don't mean much, but we've been ranked as high as 15th to 20th for several weeks because there are so many terrible teams this year.

We won't make the playoffs (barring some miracle move by Walsh), but finishing with one of the worst records would be a lot more work (losing to the Wolves and Thunder is a start, I'll grant that), and I'm sure D'Antoni wants nothing to do with it.
