What I Liked From Preseason Game 1

Last night the Knicks played their first preseason game, a 113-111 loss to Toronto. It was the first impression Knick fans would get of this new regime, and there was a lot to like. The first thing that struck me was the movement on offense. True to the 7 second offense, the ball never stayed in one place very long. This occurred as soon as the Knicks secured an defensive rebound. Preseason

Although the season is still a month away, the Knicks preseason is almost upon us. Here are some thoughts to keep in mind until the season begins…

Jared Jeffries Injured

Jared Jeffries fractured his left fibula in camp yesterday and will be out 6-8 weeks. Besides the slim hope that somehow Jeffries’ style of play would work in D’Antoni’s system, does this really matter? It is annoying but I’m pretty sure that this does not even open up roster spot, as the 15 men on the roster include three inactive players per game – including injured players. In other NBA news, Ben Gordon accepted a 1-year/$6.5 million contract from the Bulls. Poor Gordon – the NBA got smart at a bad time for him.

Z-man – Oct 1st, 2008 at 10:10 am Mike, How about a new thread on training camp? Based on Hahn’s column, some cause for optimism….my thoughts on camp thus far: 1. Jerome James lives! Imagine if he can actually contribute this year? Funny how he is the only one on the roster to have even an outside chance of filling a gaping void on this roster (interior defensive presence). 2.
