They’re Still Doing These Things?: Knicks vs. Heat

You just know that they’re going to actually win this game just to spite me.

So KP’s attorney said that they made a report about the alleged extortion attempt. Which probably means that both teams knew.

Maybe Dolan’s Razor isn’t really a thing after all. Normally the progression of events would be: Knicks sign Porzingis to max deal, the next day rape allegations come out.

Instead, he’s someone else’s problem now.

The tide is turning my friends!

Texas Tech hangs on despite a brutal 5/18 night from Culver. Maybe Clarke is the pick at 4!

despite knowing there was a game, I forgot there was a game today…that’s kind of a good thing…

even with there simply being allegations concerning rape and extortion – huge plus for the organization he is out of the city…

all the negative knick noise kp and anus disapproved of – they were about to bring a whole grip of it to the knicks…

while we’re being all insensitive – anyone else see that stuff on dotson and his charity down in houston…it seems to emphasize the importance of teamwork…yeah, I guess dot would know something about that…

This kind of puts the whole bit of Porzingis cyberstalking Instagram models into a new light

Maybe I’m inattentive but I don’t think the rape allegations negatively affected Derrick Rose.

all the negative knick noise kp and anus disapproved of – they were about to bring a whole grip of it to the knicks…

@5 this is funny to me on two levels lol, being that Janus is kind of an anus and the spicy implications about your autocorrect

No one try to pull the bullshit that Duke’s three underachievers could be better coached and turn into 40% 3PT shooters. Maybe they just suck, okay?

Oh no doubt, which is why I also said they were super thin. I just don’t see much evidence that K is a particularly good coach, as opposed to a strong recruiter. ‘Poorly’ might be overstating it, slightly, but he’s no longer top tier if in fact he ever was.

@8 I’m always astounded by how people can be so stupid, at a minimum to have no filter, and rise so high. Anyway back to basketball, Kornet has been making the most of his start

I thought kevin sprained his ankle…

cool to see that mitch got the start…33 minutes so far…his stat line is just crazy…

@13

oh man, is my hot take a thing people are actually talking about? Makes me glad I don’t twitter.

Crazy finish at Purdue Virginia unless there is replay that decides it wasn’t

Amazing game. Not sure who is doing the commentary but he is getting everything hilariously wrong. Webber?

It’s fascinating that the Mavs were told by the Knicks before the deal. That’s kind of crazy. They better have some pretty darn strong evidence that Porzingis is not guilty if they okayed that deal, as otherwise, they’re pretty stupid.

Cuban did just have to pay $10M in charitable donations because of widespread sexual harassment in the Mavs organization, so there’s that.

They probably figured they were buying low on Porzingis, when in fact it was likely the opposite.

I’ve been in hibernation, like the Knicks.
The KP news is beyond shocking. Rape! Jeeze!
And Dallas knew?
Is Cuban on drugs? No. Let me rephrase…What drugs is Cuban on?
Holy crap. That trade suddenly looks unbelievable. Mega kudos to Mills and Perry.

Oh, and Frank is a goner. I believe that he checked out anyway.

Cuban is a billionaire. He figures he can buy him out of it. Which he probably will.

Am I reading this right? KP is accused of raping a woman later on the same evening that he blew out his knee?

The KP news sucks. I was against the trade but if the accusations are true it’s great he’s gone.

Am I reading this right? KP is accused of raping a woman later on the same evening that he blew out his knee?

Yep. She says he then offered to pay her $68,000 in hush money and then never paid. So obviously, he’s going to claim extortion (the FBI has already been brought in on the case as they handle extortion cases) and we shall see what we shall see.

Knick fan not in NJ who thinks our rookies will lead us to a lousy lottery pick in 2019says:

This news actually makes Knick’s management look smart, which historically has been very hard to do.

It seems so weird that you’d trade for a dude knowing that he has this going on, right?

It seems so weird that you’d trade for a dude knowing that he has this going on, right?

Cuban is the type of owner who falls in love. He’s a fan that way. I am convinced he’s had his sights on KP for years to own the “next Dirk” type Euro. Besides, why should Cuban be scared? The history from Kobe, to Isaiah, to Rose, to himself is that the NBA fraternity is never held accountable for this type of stuff. He probably figures the story will break while KP is rehabbing and then will blow over once next season begins.

I’m thinking of Kristap’s words on the way out of New York in a new light, now:

“The city deserves better than that…. My suggestion for Knicks fans is to STAY WOKE!! Peace,”

it’s also possible the mavericks have more information than we do. it’s a low bar at the moment.

Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!says:

I think people are jumping the gun here.

KP’s lawyer said the NBA and FBI were informed of the situation by KP’s own team when the woman tried to extort money. The NBA confirmed they have known for awhile and Cuban confirmed that the FBI is looking into the case by saying he was advised by federal agents to make no comments.

So what we have here is a police report filed a few days ago where the woman accused KP of rape and said she waited to come forward because he refused to pay her the 68k he promised her to make it go away and an FBI investigation into the “woman” that’s several months old.

That doesn’t tell us whether it was rape or consensual sex (they both agree some kind of sexual activity occurred). However, I will say that intuitively if I raped a woman and all it was gong to take to make it go away was 68K, I’d give her the money. I’d give her 680k! The last thing I would ever do is report it to the NBA and FBI before any public accusations were even made. That virtually guaranteed it wasn’t going away. What KP’s group did makes no sense at all unless you aren’t guilty but are getting extorted.

I know it’s politically fashionable to always believe the woman, but something doesn’t smell right here.

We may not have the whole story yet. Maybe he did do it. But I think we need to know a LOT more before assuming KP raped a woman just because some woman said so.

Knick fan not in NJ who thinks our rookies will lead us to a lousy lottery pick in 2019says:

I’ve been thinking about this KP story. Reportedly, the woman lives in the same apartment complex he was living in and it happened the day he hurt his knee. It seems to me that maybe he came home hurt and met her by chance. Perhaps they talked, she was sympathetic to his injury and he invited her up. She was being a nice neighbor, but he went after sex. I am honestly more sympathetic to Rose than to KP.

@36

The report indicates that the woman said KP held her down and raped her, which if true would be an obvious case of rape. As far as the money stuff, if KP did rape her he still probably doesn’t believe that he did and so withdrew the money offer out of simmering resentment. It may not be intuitive, but it’s entirely plausible. Let’s wait for more evidence before saying for sure, but the story is highly credible so far, and I’m very glad he’s not on my team anymore.

Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!says:

@36

Oh my here we go…

Right, here we go!

Let’s just assume he’s guilty until proven innocent, destroy his reputation, destroy aspects of his career, and put him jail because there’s an accusation.

Why explore facts like who reported it to the FBI first?

That might lead to the conclusion that maybe we need to know more before assuming he’s guilty.

There is something wrong with this generation.

Accused- the new guilty
Either way, glad this off the court distraction is the Maverick’s problem

I’m very glad he’s not on my team anymore.

Ditto. I can imagine that the full story may exonerate him from criminal charges, but it doesn’t mean he’s innocent…at least in a way that would make me happy to root for him.

I’m surprised no one has commented on the amount he offered. $68,000? Ironically, just a little short…

Best thing to do is not jumping to conclusions.

The only thing we can say for sure is that, whatever the end result of this, the Knicks are way better off without KP on their roster.

Everything else is gut reaction and will lead nowhere good.

(As an aside, if there is something wrong with this generation because alleged rape cases aren’t treated lightly and dismissively, color me wrong very gladly. Rape is a disgusting thing and it’s only normal that people react accordingly. We have to give KP the benefit of the doubt, but we also have to jump off whatever high horse we might be on).

I must have missed the part where anyone assumed he was guilty. I think we’re all just glad this isn’t the knicks problem.

The report indicates that the woman said KP held her down and raped her, which if true would be an obvious case of rape. As far as the money stuff, if KP did rape her he still probably doesn’t believe that he did and so withdrew the money offer out of simmering resentment. Obviously whether anyone likes or dislikes KP no one knows what happend. I always though Derek Jeter was a little creepy for having surveillance camera in his bedroom, but he told everybody up front and that way he never had a “She said…. He said” problem.

There may be a bit of a cultural issue here. I used to date a Latvian gal in Sunny Isle Beach here in Florida and she told me that Latvian men were completely different than American men on the sexually aggressive scale. And that was acceptable behavior in Latvia as well as other places she mentioned (Georgia and the Ukraine she mentioned).

Clearly, that doesn’t excuse any boorish behavior (or worse) but there may be a component of “perception” here. Personally, I think KP is a self absorbed little twit full capable of what he is accused of especially when feeling sorry for himself and after having a drink (or maybe more)as anus said.

One doesn’t have to be woke to invoke the presumption of innocence as well as allowing the woman to have a fair and complete hearing of her complaint. It is just fundamental fairness as well as the law,

As I’ve said before, I don’t get too caught up in these kinds of allegations. My assumption is that every sports team that I root for has players (and owners and management) that have engaged in some sort of nefarious activity. Some get caught, some don’t. Some get falsely accused, some don’t. If KP, Dotson, Rose, etc. are on my team, I’ll root for them to play well. If Jesus Christ, Gandhi, and Pete Seeger were on the Celtics, I’d root for them to go down in flames. Whatever that makes me, at least it doesn’t make me a hypocrite.

@40

This here is all the problems I have with your posts in a nutshell.

Nobody, including me, said he’s guilty or have assumed he’s guilty, you’re making the “counterpoint” that the woman might have fabricated the story out of nothing before anyone even argued that she’s saying the truth.

And then the cherry on top of it with the “damn, the kids these days!!”

Of course he won’t be proven guilty, it’s been a year and it’s a lot more likely that there’s no proof since it seems she wasn’t examined at the time, so unless she has proof of the money transactions, he’ll get out of this just like Rose, Kobe and others did, without it affecting their careers at all.

But yeah, let’s start some drama about how we need to protect poor Kristaps’ career that is in danger because of some random girl! Damn this generation, always trying to at least give some credence to a person who might have been the victim of an abject crime!

Grant Hill said Zion reminded him of Shaq. It’s an apt comparison. He’s so strong and quick and has such a sweet touch around the rim. Unlike Shaq, he can guard the perimeter, has shown that he has a decent set shot, is a great passer and an elite finisher on the break. The drop off from the 1st to the 2nd pick looks precipitous. It’s the right year to have the worst record. Damn those flattened odds!

This is your actual position? So if you’re a Ravens fan, and you see Ray Rice knock his wife the fuck out, you say, “Eh, I bet some other guys have done it and not gotten caught?” I honestly thought you were better than that. I hope you take that as a compliment.

Also, the usual suspects with the same nonsense posts in this thread. We don’t need to comment on the allegations yet because the details are so scant.

Porzingis isn’t guilty. He’s accused. Now let’s stop trying to assume the accuser’s motivations and stop trying to exonerate Porzingis for being a rich, famous man who wouldn’t ever need to force his penis inside another human because he’s so rich and famous that he’d never want to do that.

You really do live in a fantasy. I might ask why your generation helped establish an iron-fisted law-enforcement environment that condemns non-violent criminals and drug addicts while treating sex victims like they’re attention-starved sluts who got what they deserved.

Is there something wrong with your generation? Just maybe?

If he did it, i hope he goes to jail. after that, i’d rather focus on our new star, Mitch Rob. and we know if mitch ever goes within 3 feet of a girl the refs will call a foul

Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!says:

Read through the entire thread. No one outright said he was guilty, but other than ptmilo who said the very reasonable, “it’s also possible the mavericks have more information than we do. it’s a low bar at the moment”, there’s an implicit undertone of guilt and reference to the Mav’s and Cuban’s reputation for treating women badly etc…

I wasn’t trying to start drama.

You started it.

I was trying to drag the forum to the very reasonable position that we have no idea what’s going on yet, the NBA and Mavs have known about this for awhile, the Mavs made the deal anyway, and the FBI has been investigating the “woman” for several months at the request of KP’s attorney.

So yeah, maybe before we celebrate trading him, dragging anyone through the mud, or giving the woman the benefit of the doubt, we should see what the investigation comes up with.

If he’s guilty, fuck him!

If he’s innocent, it sucks that’s he’s going have to go through this, have his reputation tarnished, and that it may have been one of the reasons they were looking to trade him.

Also, I stick with my other statement.

Some men have treated women horribly in the past. It continues to this day. It’s a terrific thing that we are shining a light on it so it stops. But imo way too many young people have overshot “reason”. Now they start with an assumption of guilt any time there’s an accusation. That’s just as bad. You should listen to the accusation, look at the evidence, and go from there. You don’t start off with a bias in one direction or the other.

There is something wrong with this generation.

More nostalgic, fictional, ahistorical bullshit from the peanut gallery. Might want to look in the mirror, boomer.

If anything we should be proud of this generation taking sexual assault more seriously than previous generations. Yes there will still be those who think that accusations= guilty but overall I think the movement has been a net positive for society.

Now they start with an assumption of guilt any time there’s an accusation. That’s just as bad. You should listen to the accusation, look at the evidence, and go from there. You don’t start off with a bias in one direction or the other.

And with this you’re really trying to tell us you’re not biased to the other position, of dismissing the accusation first and then seeing what comes out of it? Because that’s what you’re doing when you say it’s politically fashionable to trust the women’s words, or that “something doesn’t smell right”.

If you want people to be unbiased and wait for the results of an investigation before saying shit, maybe you should start by taking that position yourself.

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it before even knowing it will fall on deaf ears once more. Most left leaning groups and individuals are quick to jump to the defense of women who are victims of violence because most of the times, they’re in the right. There’s studies that estimate the amount of rape accusations in the US that are proven fake to be around 2% to 10% of the cases, which would mean that an overwhelming majority of reported abuse cases are real.

So yeah I’ll keep taking the victim’s side, because that’s not only the more human thing to do, but it’s also far more likely to be the correct side to take, even tho I’m in my thirties so what the hell could I possibly know right.

Strat, you’re so far from understanding the balance of power between men and women, especially millionaire men and women who cannot spend 68k or 680k, that I wouldn’t comment if I were you. Certainly not with a sense of authority.

Z-Man, there are things far worse than being hypocrite. Shrugging at rape may be one of them.

the FBI has been investigating the “woman” for several months at the request of KP’s attorney.

Why the scare quotes around the word woman? Seriously, what is up with that?

Your posts on this have a rather pathetic “old man yells at cloud” quality to them.

This is your actual position? So if you’re a Ravens fan, and you see Ray Rice knock his wife the fuck out, you say, “Eh, I bet some other guys have done it and not gotten caught?” I honestly thought you were better than that. I hope you take that as a compliment.

I know what you are trying to say, and yes, I take it as a compliment. If you interpret what I’m saying as being dismissive of sexual assault, then I probably am not communicating effectively. You should know that I am extremely sensitive to the issue of rape and sexual assault. I won’t get into details as of why, beyond saying that I have a second-hand perspective from a victim’s POV that few here probably have.

What I’m trying to say is that I keep my sports rooting interests separate from my feelings about societal issues. I will probably continue to enjoy Michael Jackson’s music, Kevin Spacey’s films (The Usual Suspects is one of my personal faves), Damyean Dotson jumpers, etc. I don’t automatically judge fans of Kobe, Big Ben, DRose, Michael Vick, etc. as apologists unless they suggest that they deserve special treatment because of their role as star athletes on the team that they root for. No one is above the law.

I hope that we progress to a day when messaging about celebrity culture is cleansed of expectations of sexual entitlement. Sadly, the themes in pop culture continue to glorify sexual conquest, and a celebrity who was caught bragging about grabbing women by their genitals was elected president.

If the KP thing is true, I hope he gets held accountable, regardless of whether he’s on my team or not. However, it won’t have much impact on whether I root for him during games.

I also believe in redemption and forgiveness. You and I probably have different feelings about the Ray Rice and Damyean Dotson cases. I don’t think that makes either of us a better or worse person.

I cannot watch the Naked Gun movies due to OJ Simpson’s presence in them. I enjoyed them once upon a time, but couldn’t get far into the first one again some time after all the revelations than came out about him. I could not root for Derrick Rose when he was here (really, I rooted for him to fail).

I guess we all have our limits. I can only compartmentalize that stuff so far.

KP case is way too early to make any judgement about.

Z-Man, there are things far worse than being hypocrite. Shrugging at rape may be one of them.

We’ve already established that we have zero respect for each other. So whatever.

Is it possible that overall everyone agrees here? Everyone is saying the same thing, “Listen to her, believe her until proven otherwise, and don’t make any major decisions on the accused’s career and life until we know for sure.”

As the balance of power changes in these cases, yes, it seems accusers have a ton of leverage, even if they are in fact lying. But don’t forget how bad the power balance was until just a couple of years ago. It just means that the imbalance harbored a lot of potential energy in where the pendulum was stuck; now we have to release it, let the kinetics flow, and ride it out.

Amusing that my post was flagged for moderation when it doesn’t have any ad hominem criticisms like most of the other posts here.

“I cannot watch the Naked Gun movies due to OJ Simpson’s presence in them. I enjoyed them once upon a time, but couldn’t get far into the first one again some time after all the revelations than came out about him. See, my feeling is that once you say you “can only compartmentalize that stuff so far” you suggest that it depends on something other than the allegations/crime. And currently, by rooting for the Knicks and by doing anything that supports them financially (including boosting ratings by watching games) you are condoning their practices of hiring known credibly accused sex offenders (Rose and Dotson were known commodities before they were brought on board) and supporting an organization that to this day refuses to acknowledge that Isiah Thomas and others engaged in sexual harassment. If you are not boycotting all things Knicks, then fine, just don’t have the temerity to criticize others because their own personal “line” is not drawn where you choose to draw yours.

So much information is out there on OJ, Rose, Rice, Vick that yes, we can make an informed opinion, and whether you believe that art can be separated from artist will define your opinion. I think those guys are assholes and I can’t listen to Thriller anymore, but won’t begrudge someone that does. I’ll still watch the Naked Gun movies because that time period of comedic movies were my favorites and OJ wasn’t a major part, but I can’t watch the Cosby Show because that asshole was in every scene.
It’s subjective and shades-of-grey, and we need to be tolerant

Honestly when people talk about “the problem with society/millennials/boomers” I always answer the same – No, the problem is people like you with intolerance.

That goes for the left, right, athletes and fans, AOC and Trump. Young guys and old. Everyone’s way too intolerant, no one listens to anyone , at least not with the openness to change their mind or to get at the truth. No one gives a shit. Including people here. It’s all talking over each other, screaming, chaos, my feelings versus yours, my facts versus yours, and overall obstinance.
/rant

Grant Hill said Zion reminded him of Shaq. It’s an apt comparison.

I think his impact will be Shaq-like. Shaq wasn’t the greatest center but he came at a time when the great centers were winding down and that made him much more dominant. I remember playing fantasy basketball and they had make “No Shaq leagues”, or leagues where you couldn’t play him at C. It was essentially impossible to lose if you had Shaq at C bc there were no others who could compete.

I think Zion, despite being 6-7 or 6-8, will have the same kind of physical dominance that Shaq had bc we’re in a small ball era. He’ll be too strong for the MRob/Capela types, and too fast for the Draymond Greens.

@61

don’t have the temerity to criticize others because their own personal “line” is not drawn where you choose to draw yours.

Good grief, dude! I was not at all criticizing you or anyone else at all, just saying how I feel about rooting for guys who behave (very) badly. You’re the one that just launched the personal attack.

@65 truly sorry if that came across as a criticism of you or a personal attack, I could see you as taking it that way but it wasn’t my intention. I meant to point to what you wrote to state a general principle that we all have our personal line and shouldn’t judge others regarding where their own line was. I’m perfectly fine with your choices.

Tolerance is not inherently virtuous. We should not be tolerant of people who plot to shoot places of worship, nor the ideologies that call for such acts to be carried out. We should not be tolerant of protesters who harm bystanders. We should not be tolerant of the chief executive of our federal government calling for the censorship of a press critical toward him. We should not be tolerant of our government failing to protect us from mass surveillance by public and private entities alike. We should not be tolerant of people who enable accused rapists by smearing the credibility and character of those who, to their peril, make those accusations public. We should not be tolerant of tainted public water irreparably poisoning young people when their brains are at the greatest risk of harm. We should not be tolerant of rich, inherited-wealth billionaire assholes who enable sexual harassment by his chosen executive and then places that person in a position of enormous power over a women’s organization under his control.

Being critical does not mean being tolerant. It means that I will listen to what you have to say, and when you say something like, “Wind turbines are bad for the country because it’s not always windy outside,” I will call you a fucking moron and wonder how the fuck anyone could tolerate such a reductive, stupid, craven, crass and morally-bankrupt human being being in charge of a lemonade stand, much less the world’s largest and most functionally-diverse government.

Major props to Phil Jackson for getting rid of the knuckleheads and malcontents

I know I’m late on this, but our bigs just combined for 6 steals and 7 blocks. Damn! I’ll take that every day.

@66
Cool. I think everyone has their own line, and mine is with guys like Simpson and Rose. I’m not judging anyone else’s line…it’s all personal. Wetbandit still watches The Naked Gun movies, and that’s fine…I can’t.

FWIW, I can’t stand Isiah Thomas and Dolan (I wish he’d sell the team). However, I’ll still root for the good guys on the Knicks! Surely there’s at least one good guy on the team? Frank N?
🙂

Jowles- No, I never said that. I said to be tolerant of other views and philosophies. I don’t like anything about Trump, but I tend to like some conservative thinkers on tax reform, how to deal with countries like Iran, and how to best solve the healthcare crisis. (Did I upset you? I’m not trying to be evil. I’m trying to figure out what I think is best for everyone, i have a different perspective). I don’t like Beto, Bernie, and the new socialist democrats, but I believe in social progressivism.

If someone watches The Naked Gun, is he bad? If someone roots for Vick, or likes German cars, or is a Republican, is he bad?

There is much to be tolerant about, because people disagree all the time, like parents who want the best for their child, but I never said to be tolerant of evil. To make everything black and white is the sign of an intolerant mind.

the FBI has been investigating the “woman” for several months at the request of KP’s attorney.

Why the scare quotes around the word woman? Seriously, what is up with that?

When you are trying to convince people that the “reasonable position” is to assume that the accused is the real victim it is important to de-humanize the accuser as soon as is possible. In Strato’s mind she’s not even a real woman.

We’ve already established that we have zero respect for each other. So whatever.

You’re obviously smart and sometimes funny, I respect that.
You can even decide to separate people’s character from their work achievements. But please don’t shrug at it, because you’re shrugging at intense pain.

Is it possible that overall everyone agrees here?

Yes, it seems we’ve all been in agreement since the news broke. Strat seems to want some credit for dragging us to the position we all kind of woke up in, but other than that, this is a rare instance of nearly everyone being on the same page.

Hey, y’know, I don’t know if KP did this, we all have very little information about this whole situation. So sure. Wait and see.

But really, this is kiiiiiinda another data point suggesting an overall wackness to Kristaps Porzingis. Injury prone, major flaws as a player, diva attitude, forces you to deal with his d-bag hanger-on of a brother, and now this. I’m just not feeling this dude at all.

Glad he is somebody else’s problem, and I’m more than glad we were able to pick up some assets in exchange for dumping him.

When you are trying to convince people that the “reasonable position” is to assume that the accused is the real victim it is important to de-humanize the accuser as soon as is possible. In Strato’s mind she’s not even a real woman.

I would like for Strat to explain this. Seriously, why the scare quotes?

I mean you might as well say “this so-called woman” or “this money-grubbing whore pretending to be a woman.”

I know Strat likes KP because he’s an elite superstar in Strat’s super-secret horse racing-inspired basketball metric, but if we’re really doing the whole wait and see thing here, how is it appropriate to trash the alleged victim?

If someone watches The Naked Gun, is he bad? If someone roots for Vick, or likes German cars, or is a Republican, is he bad?

No. There are lines to be drawn in the wake of any of these allegations, and those lines should be set by an individual.

There’s a different argument when we’re talking about the enrichment of the accused artists. It would seem insane to me to pay R. Kelly in 2019 to sing songs about sex and romance, now that we know what we know. But it would also seem insane to anyone to call for a legal ban on his material.

I haven’t met a good racist yet, so you’ll have to qualify what you mean by “Republican.” Do you mean the ones who think that black people tend to live in slums because they’re too dumb, lazy and immoral to raise themselves out of poverty?

if we’re really doing the whole wait and see thing here, how is it appropriate to trash the alleged victim?

He’s not doing the wait and see, he’s claiming to while de-humanizing the accuser and implying that KP’s extortion claim has more validity than her rape claim. While also claiming that everyone who’s taking the charges seriously has already jumped to a conclusion. It’s just his world view, where the powerful are routinely victimized by the powerless.

@78

Yup, that’s a great summary. People don’t get angry at his opinions per se, it’s always the way he puts them forward with this world view that is so ingrained in prejudice and thinking he’s the smartest dude around all the time.

I’ve seen it so many times it barely moves me anymore, I was fully expecting this reaction to the KP situation and well, it’s the same shit again. Arguing with a brick wall is not fun.

When he’s completely pwned he tends to just disappear. Like a while back he wrote some post about how it was Colin Kaepernick’s poor play that got him booted from the NFL, not the kneeling, and I wrote a long post that completely demolished that ridiculously bad take and he just never addressed it. He just went away for the rest of the day and showed up again the next day like nothing ever happened.

So, Strat. What’s with the scare quotes then.

No, Jowles, the other kind. Do you really think all Republicans are racists?

If there was a knickerblogger bookie, Strat having an absolutely garbage opinion about a rape allegation involving Kristaps Porzingis would be such a lock they’d have to stop taking bets on it.

No one is saying Porzingis should be found criminally liable right this second. That doesn’t mean people aren’t allowed to develop their own opinions based on statistics regarding false rape allegations, the facts of this specific case, etc. Why is this so hard to understand? Actually I guess I know the answer—some people’s first instinct will always be to try to smear an accuser to the maximum extent possible, and any deviation from that by others will be viewed with hostility.

PJ Washington having a good game amid the typical debacle that is NCAA officiating.

Or of politicians and prominent members the national media fabricating Red Scare narratives in a cynical attempt to stoke anti-Russian hysteria among the American electorate to cover for electoral maleficence.

My longer comment is in moderation hell, but Strat having a garbage opinion on this was such a mortal lock he should’ve pretended not to just to keep us on our toes

The money is the key. If KP was willing to pay this woman off I have serious doubts about his innocence in the whole matter. If I was accused of a heinous crime that I didn’t commit I wouldn’t pay a dime to suppress the allegation where it becomes a private slander. I would fight publicly to counter the charge and clear my name because I have nothing to hide. But it’s always the scumbags who pay off their victims like Harvey Weinstein and Michael Jackson who are guilty as sin because they do have something to hide.

Or of politicians and prominent members the national media fabricating Red Scare narratives in a cynical attempt to stoke anti-Russian hysteria among the American electorate to cover for electoral maleficence.

Or of people who have such a massive boner for Bernie Sanders that the boner gets in their eyes and it obstructs their vision of things that are clear as day, such as the plain fact that Mueller report concluded that Russians interfered in the 2016 US election to help Donald Trump and harm Hillary Clinton

Really? Where’s the evidence of this massive conspiracy to subvert our election? Oh, that’s right. They still haven’t shown it and won’t ever show it now that not one single American has been charged with collusion. How convenient.

“Collusion with the Trump campaign” is not the same thing as “Russians tried to influence the election,” numbnuts.

You’re going to look like a real jackass (again) when the report is eventually released.

I would work on new excuses ahead of time for why Bernie Sanders loses the 2020 primary. “DNC stole-ded it” is getting kind of stale

The fact that the Russians attempted to subvert the election is RIGHT IN THE BARR LETTER. The Barr Whitewash Letter mentions TWO different prongs of the attack: the social media troll campaign and the hacking campaign.

“Collusion with the Trump campaign” is not the same thing as “Russians tried to influence the election,” numbnuts.

Um, the document which was signed by Rosenstein included the allegation that there were links or coordination between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and the Russian government. That was the main charge which began the investigation. If foreign government influence were the actual issue then you’d have to investigate every presidential candidate who receives money from foreign lobbyists, which not only included Hillary Clinton’s campaign, but just about every Democratic and Republican federal campaign in recent history. But let’s not let the details get in the way of our witch hunt here. I am sure a special investigation will be opened up looking into Saudi, or Israeli or Chinese “interference” into our national elections any minute from now…

I understand why you would think that, Ntilikilla, but it’s not sound logic. People spend money to make problems go away all the time. I don’t think a willingness to do so implies guilt.

Jesus, I forgot Ntilikina read the whole unredacted report. Completely forgot he wasn’t just privy to the 4-page summary by the guy who wrote an unsolicited memo to the DOJ establishing his prejudice against the entire investigation before he had seen a shred of non-public evidence. Why are we arguing with this guy, again? He obviously has some contacts at The Young Turks who have access to such documents.

Also, considering he reported it to the FBI and never paid it, it’s unclear if he actually was willing to pay her.

I would work on new excuses ahead of time for why Bernie Sanders loses the 2020 primary. “DNC stole-ded it” is getting kind of stale

LOL What? The DNC admitted they rigged the election when its chair Debbie Wassherman-Schultz resigned and was then replaced with Donna Brazile, who then wrote a book admitting that everything in the Podesta emails was true. Donna Brazile, by the way, is no “Bernie-Bro” she is a long-time DNC shill and Clinton supporter with ties to its establishment back when she mismanaged Al Gore’s 2000 campaign.

I understand why you would think that, Ntilikilla, but it’s not sound logic. People spend money to make problems go away all the time. I don’t think a willingness to do so implies guilt.

I am willing to listen to both sides. KP’s defense team is rightly re-framing the issue of the money payment, making it sound like the victim was the one who extorted KP by propositioning a payoff rather than the other way around. But right now I have serious doubts about his innocence, especially considering that the police have carried the investigation as far as they have with the original story stating that KP was the one who offered to pay her off.

Just make sure you have a good excuse for when he loses this time.

My mouth is already watering at the taste of those delicious tears.

“Collusion with the Trump campaign” is not the same thing as “Russians tried to influence the election,” numbnuts.

Does anyone besides the most imbicilic of trump supporters deny that Russian tried to influence the election?

They did. They’re also going to try to influence the next one, and all the ones they can, just like we do. That wasn’t the point of the mueller probe. That was common sense.

Hey Ntilikina, did the Russians hack the Clinton campaign and then disseminate the information gathered to help the Trump campaign or nah?

Think hard about this one.

Like the arguments with Strat, this topic with Ntilakilla is kind of pointless. He’s got his sources which tell him that other sources are somehow nefariously involved in some conspiracy and can’t be trusted. Any questioning of that is inherently implicated in that conspiracy. People in that spot get so convinced of the righteousness of their opinions that there are no cracks to let the light in.

It’s funny you keep mentioning the Young Turks when its founder Cenk Uygur is has been one of the most vociferous proponents of the Russian collusion narrative, even ridiculing Michael Tracey for his skepticism on the matter. But I can cite a good number of other journalists including Matt Tiabbi, Glenn Greenwald, Aaron Mate, Max Blumenthal etc. who have done very good work in dissecting this Russiagate nonsense. If you’re going to fixate one aspect of my point at least pick a better one to dismiss.

Look, I know that you and the other liberal partisans having an emotional breakdown over this whole issue can’t wait to read the memo to find any smoking gun you can use to salvage this entire farce. But the game is over. Mueller – the supposedly great paragon of prosecutorial virtue – isn’t denying that Barr mischaracterized his findings on the actual main point of his investigation, which we all know was primarily concerned with members of the Trump Campaign conspiring or coordinating with the Russian government in its election interference activities. The rest will be the same garden variety corruption and conflicts of special interest ranging from money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, and bribery which a white collar crook like Trump accumulated throughout his shady business career.

Everyone, please stop feeding the Ntilakilla troll. I don’t care to read his takes and he keeps cluttering the board with his BS.

Bernie Bros such as this one are really, really in love with the “I told you so” narrative that came with Trump beating Clinton. So anything that conflicts with this very important narrative cannot exist.

Clinton blew the election, her strategy sucked and really she mostly has herself to blame. But no! That is not enough for the Bernie Bro. For the Bernie Bro to be fully vindicated it must ALSO be true that there was no effort by Russia to help Donald Trump. It must be true that the Democratic Part was not hacked by Russia, and that the results of that hack benefitted Trump. It is just too much of a stain on their beautiful narrative.

That’s the level of childishness we are dealing with here.

Just make sure you have a good excuse for when he loses this time.

My mouth is already watering at the taste of those delicious tears.

LOL. Jesus, you’re mad beyond the point of rationality. I don’t see how the loss of the best chance the Democratic Party has of defeating Donald Trump is something to rejoice over unless you’re a Trump supporter. More proof that a “centrist” liberal would rather enable fascism than see a progressive movement succeed in its place. It was the same in Weimar Germany and is as true today as was then.

Bernie Bros such as this one are really, really in love with the “I told you so” narrative that came with Trump beating Clinton. So anything that conflicts with this very important narrative cannot exist.

You’re not wrong, but I think it’s worth pointing out this is a very small, very online contingent of Bernie Sanders supporters. Polls show that most are normal people who want universal healthcare but would also vote for a mannequin against Trump. Bernie himself has always maintained Russian hacking is a legitimate issue that needs to be addressed, and campaigned vigorously for Democrats up and down the ballot in 2016.

Some more details are trickling out about the Porzingis allegation and they only add to how disturbing the whole thing is. As others have said, no matter what happened I’m very happy this guy is no longer on the Knicks.

How is it possible that we wound up trading away the injury prone, overrated volume scorer with a credible rape allegation? It shows a very clear departure from Phil Jackson’s team building strategy, in which you go out of your way to acquire guys who fit that description.

They did. They’re also going to try to influence the next one, and all the ones they can, just like we do. That wasn’t the point of the mueller probe. That was common sense.

Yup, of course it wasn’t. If this was actual point of the Mueller probe it would mean that every and any politician with any ties to any foreign government would be fair game. And by that standard then we’d have conducted an investigation into Clinton and Trump’s ties to Saudi or Israeli lobbyists. The hypocrisy here is so massive I can’t believe angry liberals aren’t even remotely self-aware of it. We all just saw how Ilan Omar called was an “antisemitic” for making the even more salient point that the AIPAC lobby has in an inordinate influence in our elections when she remarked that “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country” by the same politicians who are stoking a Red Scare.

He’s got his sources which tell him that other sources are somehow nefariously involved in some conspiracy and can’t be trusted.

Do as any rational person would do. Look at my sources to see where they are wrong or where I have misstated the evidence. The one source I cited here today was the actual chairperson of the DNC who in her own words admitted to finding a conspiracy between the DNC and Clinton campaigns to influence the Democratic primary when she came into office after replacing her disgraced predecessor. The funny thing is that the people who ate up ridiculous conspiracy theories of Trump and Putin collaboration are the same people who can’t even accept that Hillary Clinton and Debbie Wasserman Schultz were in cahoots, despite the blatant evidence including the fact that the former gave the latter a job in her campaign after she resigned from the DNC.

Who would have guessed that a rape allegation would come out, we’d all for the most part handle it with the appropriate modicum of respect for both parties, and we’d still end up with a convo that disintegrated into partisan rage.

Just stop dude. Sometimes you have a point, sometimes you don’t, but regardless it’s always obvious that your intention is just to stir people up and/or derail the discussion already taking place. It’s the very definition of trolling, and everyone notices it.

I really don’t know why you do it. Your posts tend to be pretty good when you’re not being a jackass because you feel like it.

Not even the point. If we could leave 2016 back in the past I’d be happy to. But the problem is that now this whole Russiagate farce which will allow Trump to paint himself as a victim of Democratic conspiracy to unfairly impeach him. That’s the problem. It’s poisoned our entire discourse the same way the Birther conspiracy did back in 2008 when Clinton supporters circulated the rumors about Obama’s foreign citizenship while she stood back and allowed them to slander his nationality until John McCain stepped in and dismissed them. We spent years having to deal with the fallout of that stupid and heinous charge which only mobilized right-wing hysteria against his administration. Now we have to deal with this stupidity instead of addressing real issues affecting this country like the fact that the national life expectancy has lowered a third year in a row, or that we’re facing historic levels of income inequality, or that we have 12 years to reverse manmade climate change until it’s too late.

@109 + 110

Fair enough. I apologize if I side-railed the discussion here. It really wasn’t my intention to veer it so far off track. I was just interested to see how the same people who preach intolerance to injustice when it’s convenient to virtue signal could do it in other circumstances when they have to admit they’re wrong.

Strat knew a lot about the presumption of innocence when it came to the rape allegation, but ate Porzingis’ “extortion” claim up without a shred of evidence. His reaction could not have been more on brand, unless he somehow worked a diatribe about simply “winning trades” in there.

Strat never comes back in the face of reasoned argument.

Do as any rational person would do. Look at my sources to see where they are wrong or where I have misstated the evidence.

I do, and I have, and you do so frequently. There’s just not much point to engaging. If someone points out that it’s structurally impossible for the DNC to interfere in elections the way you seem to believe that’s just handwaved away. If someone points out you’re wrong about the origins of the investigation, are overstating what Barr’s letter is saying, and ignoring evidence we do have there’s goalpost shifting/handwaving/ect ad nauseum. There’s just no point to it. I agree with a lot of your posts but on this subset you’re fanatical about it. It’s facially ridiculous to suggest that the investigation is a witch hunt/distraction from election malfeasance when it’s uncovered heaps of wrongdoing. Meanwhile, MSU is fighting the good fight against Duke. We all have our biases 🙂

Eek. Did you guys read the latest on the KP rape rumors? It seems as if there’s a highly racialized component to this I (at least) wasn’t aware of:

Former Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis allegedly called a black woman a “slave” and a “b—h” as he beat and raped her, according to a report.

The 7-foot-3 athlete, who is white, is accused of referring to the woman as “my b—h” and “my slave,” adding that he owned her, during the alleged Feb. 7, 2018, sex assault in Porzingis’s Manhattan penthouse, according to TMZ.

The woman made the claim to cops, the Web site said.

Law-enforcement sources told The Post — which broke the story Saturday that the NYPD is investigating the rape allegation against the hoops star — that they could not immediately confirm that he used the vile language.

Hours after suffering a gruesome knee injury during a game, Porzingis, 23, allegedly punched and raped the 29-year-old woman inside the Midtown skyscraper where they both lived, sources told The Post.

Porzingis, who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks, has denied the allegations and said through his lawyer that the accuser tried to extort him.

He needs to get in front of this story and give his side to it because it just looks worse and worse for him as time moves on.

If someone points out that it’s structurally impossible for the DNC to interfere in elections the way you seem to believe that’s just handwaved away.

This is what irks me. It means you didn’t read the source from the DNC chairperson herself stating she found an August 2015 document outlining the “Joint Fund-Raising Agreement between the DNC., the Hillary Victory Fund, and Hillary for America” that effectively allowed Clinton to control the DNC purse strings. Now, you don’t have to believe Brazile, but please don’t tell me its structurally impossible for the DNC to interfere in the primary when the argument is that the Clinton campaign co-opted the entire organization as an ancillary wing of their entire enterprise after placing Wasserman-Schultz at its head. Brazile made it clear the Clinton campaign would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The D.N.C. also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings.

But, anyways, let’s digress.

Oh shit, Dolan’s Razor may still be a thing:

Report: Knicks didn't inform Mavericks of allegation of rape against Porzingis https://t.co/u97lSWkBtU pic.twitter.com/BlEyhpKhx1— theScore NBA (@theScoreNBA) March 31, 2019

The issue of contention here is that the league sources claim the Knicks FO mentioned “extortion” but specifically excluded the subject of “rape” from their conversations with the Mavs FO. It will be very interesting to see if Silver gets involved here and makes the Knicks FO renege the deal or offer some type of compensation for not fully disclosing the situation. Imagine if KP has to return to NYC after all of this has been said and done?

What is the protocol? You would think the team would be required to pass such information onto the league.

So, I don’t get a lot of things right, because by my nature I look for things that are improbable, but I said this here a while ago:

I know next to nothing about college basketball. I do know that Tom Izzo is the Pop of the NCAA, though, and that Mike Kr_____sky is one of the worst game coaches I’ve ever seen (based on USA basketball). So I took a flier on Izzo being able to force Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett to beat them and picked Michigan State to be in the final 4. Hopefully that will carry me because I don’t know what the hell else is going on.

And now I’m in position to win my pool if MSU wins this darn tourney.

Donna Brazile is a kook who was trying to sell a book, and after she got an initial round of publicity with her claims, she went on CNN and basically said “yeah, never mind all that.”

https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/05/politics/donna-brazile-primary-rigged/index.html

Ignore that part though. That doesn’t fit in with the “Saint Bernie Cannot Lose, He Can Only Have It Taken Away From Him” narrative that the Bros hold so near and dear.

Guess who else had a joint fundraising agreement with the DNC? You’ll never guess, Ntilikina! I’ll give you a hint, his name rhymes with “Schmernie Schmanders.”

RJ Barrett is kind of Russell Westbrook lite – fills up the box score, but not that great a shooter and turns the ball over a lot (7 today)

@121

Depends upon the rules for full disclosure. But, I mean, a team has to be able to conduct its own due diligence in these matters as well. It’s why they have their own medical staff examine athletes as well, to see if their own appraisal matches with the bill of goods they have been sold. I can’t imagine that Cuban, Nelson and Carlisle were made aware of an extortion case involving a woman and didn’t do their own homework, even if it meant asking KP and his brother what the whole affair was about. If they did and were satisfied then they deserve whatever they got. And if they didn’t then they were too stupid to complain about being lied to.

Either way, this is another black eye on our much maligned front office. It’s been excoriated in the press for all sorts of improprieties over the better part of two decades under Dolan for everything ranging from frathouse harassment to mistreating its star players so why not add shady trade practices to the mix? I am sure teams will be willing to deal with us in good faith after this whole thing…sigh…

It is hard to imagine that Dallas would not have inquired into the context of the alleged extortion. If the Knicks lied about that it would likely be fraudulent. Also, the Knicks were probably duty-bound to inform the league of these circumstances particularly if the FBI was notified. I am pretty certain the league retains former Fed law enforcement personnel in part for circumstances like these.

I know Barrett is a complicated prospect with lots of strengths and weaknesses, but I gotta say I do not want that guy on the Knicks. It’s a purely visceral reaction. My Knicksy alarm is going off. It’s similar to how I felt about Jahlil Okafor.

The Knicks have nothing to worry about in this situation. I mean, what, did Mark Cuban in his infinite wisdom not follow up with “interesting, on what basis is he being extorted?” That’s a leak from the Mavs to make them look less shitty to people who don’t want to think for a second.

Barrett seems to be a notch below Zion, Ja and Culver. I’d still probably take him at 4 if those other 3 are off the board but his game seems rather clunky.

@125

Really? Bernie Sanders had the same disclosure with the DNC that allowed his campaign the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, that would allow it to make final decisions on all the other staff, and to control its money and finances which were then laundered into its coffers through state campaigns as the Clinton campaign had? Really? You expect me to believe this nonsense?

Ah, but Brazile retracted her comment after major pressure directed at her by Clinton loyalists like John Podesta (whose emails showed even more dirty play), Robby Mook and Jennifer Palmieri signed an open letter disavowing the claims she made in her book. Surprise. I agree with Chris Calizza and Elizabeth Warren on this issue. Only a partisan would think the primary was evenly mediated by the DNC.

It is hard to imagine that Dallas would not have inquired into the context of the alleged extortion.

Me too. Even if it just meant contacting Janis or KP to get their version of the story.

There were some sketchy things happening at the DNC in 2016. There is zero evidence any of them cost Bernie Sanders the nomination. Can we stop talking about this forever now?

As I think about it more, how does someone disclose the alleged extortion without referencing the alleged rape, as in “she is threatening to go to the police and accuse him of rape if he does not pay her the $68,000 he said he would.”

please don’t tell me its structurally impossible for the DNC to interfere in the primary when the argument is that the Clinton campaign co-opted the entire organization as an ancillary wing of their entire enterprise

The DNC doesn’t run the primaries. Those are run by state parties, which are entirely independent. They aren’t in a position to rig anything. They are by no means the only funding distributor. They can’t do what you’re accusing them of doing. And, as has been pointed out, Bernie had the same setup Clinton did. This is precisely what I was talking about.

Duke lost though. Small victories.

If the extortion allegations were conveyed the Knicks are probably fine, since the rape charges came after the trade. Or what the hell was he being extorted for?

EDIT: allegations, not charges. Apologies.

i can’t remember other cases, it it typical for the union to come out and basically say they’ve reviewed the allegations side with the player in cases like this?

Oh shit, Dolan’s Razor may still be a thing:

Report: Knicks didn’t inform Mavericks of allegation of rape against Porzingis https://t.co/u97lSWkBtU pic.twitter.com/BlEyhpKhx1— theScore NBA (@theScoreNBA) March 31, 2019

The woman didn’t file a police report until last week so at the time of the trade there hadn’t been any allegations they could have reported. The only reason the Knicks knew anything about the case is because KP informed them AND the league office about a possible extortion attempt. Unless we find out that the woman had had contact with the Knicks management and told them of the allegations before the trade took place I’m not sure what else they could do.

Zion was so good he made me root for Duke. Good game. NCAAs really picked up after a slow first couple of rounds.

I can’t hate Barret since he at least fills up the box score and has a good 2PT%.

I’m so glad that Zion never has to bail out Reddish and Barrett again. Those two look like a pair of busts to these eyes.

Culver is probably my favorite player for the Knicks if we can’t get Zion, but to like Culver and not like (or even hate) Barrett is pretty crazy to me. Culver hasn’t shot well since the first round of the tournament and then the rest of his stats are comparable to Barrett. He’s also shorter and a year older. I like Culver because he can play well off the ball whereas Barrett has been a high volume scorer his whole life, but they are as similar as prospects get.

As I think about it more, how does someone disclose the alleged extortion without referencing the alleged rape, as in “she is threatening to go to the police and accuse him of rape if he does not pay her the $68,000 he said he would.”

It does take a real lack of common sense bordering upon Forrest Gump levels of naivete not to put 2 + 2 together to deduce how an anonymous woman would try to extort a professional athlete. I wonder if the Mavericks FO are just trying to cover their collective asses here for posterity’s sake.

@137

Good to know, nicos. I guess the Knicks are covered on this end and it’s really Janis who looks like the one withholding information here.

damn, didn’t know kevin spacey had done some evil shit…it’s hard to keep up with them all…it may take a while, but, in this day and age – the light can shine bright on really dark stuff…that’s a good thing – I wonder how long before mister kraft and his very wee willy makes his appearance on pornhub…

watched some michael jackson court interview thing wherein he tried to equate his behavior to that of jesus’ concept of love…it was sick and disturbing…latoya was the only one who raised a flag…

didn’t know jeter kept cameras in the bedroom…I wish I had video evidence of myself in my prime getting freaky days…dirk digler had nothing on me – or, so I remember…

The DNC doesn’t run the primaries. Those are run by state parties, which are entirely independent.

The DNC didn’t have to run the state parties in order to rig the election. All they had to do was rubber stamp a plan by Clinton campaign to buy their allegiance with an ability to raise funds for their campaigns. In August 2015, at the Democratic Party convention in Minneapolis, 33 democratic state parties made deals with the Hillary Clinton campaign and a joint fundraising entity called The Hillary Victory Fund. The deal allowed many of her core billionaire and inner circle individual donors to run the maximum amounts of money allowed through those state parties to the Hillary Victory Fund in New York and the DNC in Washington. This was part of what Brazile was writing about in her book. Control over the DNC was important for the Clinton campaign in that it approved a way for their donors to maneuver around campaign finance laws during the primary to buy support from the state parties. Not surprisingly, the 22 of the states which signed agreements to take the Clinton cash declared they would not pledge delegate to support Bernie Sanders no matter what.

This blog is all over the fucking place today – epic.

The only thing missing that I can think of were some recipes.

Getting Zion on the Knicks would be a complete game changer. God Damn those flattened odds this year!

@149

New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the world and red beans and rice is one of its staple dishes. I’m not from Louisiana so I don’t know if this is the most traditional way to make it but here’s the recipe I used. You’ll get better flavor if you can cook this in one pot.

Ingredients

1 lb red beans soaked according to instructions on package

1 lb andouille sausage cut in half lengthwise and then cut into 1″ or 1/2″ pieces

1 ham hock

Vegetable or another neutral oil

1 large or 2 medium onions diced

1 bell pepper diced

2-3 stalks of celery diced (you’re making a variation of a mire poix with these three ingredients so you should have 2 parts onion to 1 part bell pepper and 1 part celery)

6 cloves garlic minced

2 teaspoons dried basil

4 tablespoons dried parsley

3/4 teaspoon sage

1 teaspoon cayenne

1 teaspoon cajun seasoning

3 bay leaves

Salt and pepper to taste

Water

Steps

Heat oil over medium high heat

Brown sausage and ham hock in oil. Remove from pot and set aside

Add onions and garlic to pot, cook until onions become translucent

Add celery and bell pepper, cook until softened

Add in all herbs and spices except for bay leaves. Cook for about 60 seconds

Put sausage and ham hock back in pot, add red beans, bay leaves, and just cover with water (a little less water than in my picture; my hand slipped and I put a bit too much in)

Slow cook for 5-6 hours. Beans should be tender and ham hock should be falling off the bone

Serve over white rice and with your favorite Louisiana-style hot sauce

Vincoug is the real MVP

didn’t know jeter kept cameras in the bedroom…I wish I had video evidence of myself in my prime getting freaky days…dirk digler had nothing on me – or, so I remember

I think I once asked you to follow the punctuation rules of standard written English. Please never take advice from me. You are a board treasure.

@187,

This is my point. You react on these topics with irrelevant details and outsized assertions without dealing with central points. The arguments just lead to yelling past each other, in this forum. My point is you can’t be constructively engaged on these topics here.

Hillary Clinton did not rig independent national polls. Independent polling groups placed Hillary Clinton ahead of Sanders during the primary. For any theory you’ve put forth so far, there’s the easy counter argument that the results of the primary are largely in line with the findings of the independently conducted polls–that Hillary Clinton beat Bernie Sanders. At no point did Sanders surpass Clinton in the polls.

Sanders signed the same exact agreement with the DNC that allowed Clinton to send money to the DNC. To any extent that you claim the agreement favored Clinton, that claim is nullified by the fact Sanders signed the same agreement and had the same financial opportunity to give money to the party.

Any right to oversee personnel was for the general election only. People who run the general election are different than the people who run the primaries. The power to oversee personnel for the general election has no effect on the primaries. The personnel chosen for the general election are likely influenced by the winner of the primary anyway. Any claim of influence is tenuous at best

Peddle your lies, half-truths, and bias elsewhere. Now, let’s return to the Knicks.

That’s a leak from the Mavs to make them look less shitty to people who don’t want to think for a second.

Seems very likely. For once, I’m not overly concerned. Cuban just needs some plausible deniability.

I gotta hand it to the FO for getting themselves out of this situation before it became a mess. Where would be now without that trade? We’d be faced with either having to negotiate with an alleged rapist who feels entitled to a max contract or trying to trade a player who hadn’t played in 1.5 years and had a potential criminal proceeding hanging over him.

The Knicks have nothing to worry about in this situation. I mean, what, did Mark Cuban in his infinite wisdom not follow up with “interesting, on what basis is he being extorted?” That’s a leak from the Mavs to make them look less shitty to people who don’t want to think for a second.

100%.

Imagine that there’s no knee issue, and the Mavs ask the Knicks why they were looking to move him. The Knicks respond: “He’s unhappy with his current situation.” The idea that the Mavs would go, “Oh, okay. Where do we sign?” without asking further questions would be ridiculous. If this rumor is true, the Mavs general counsel should be fired with cause by the end of business tomorrow. It’s just so unbelievably dumb an explanation that I can’t believe it could happen. It’s not evil-dumb, like Cuban’s culture of sexual harassment. It’s just dumb.

The trade seems to have come as a surprise to KP, so I don’t think the Mavs would have gotten an opportunity to talk to him. That said, even if the Knicks gave all the information they had on the alleged extortion, it was a year old incident at the time of the trade, so it’s easy to imaging the Mavs didn’t worry very much about it.

If KP really said the things alleged in the link, it’s easy to imagine the woman got pissed off and didn’t let things slide. Sometimes a person can be his own worst enemy.

Also, the 2016 Democratic primary was not particularly close.

Clinton won the popular vote by a 55-43 margin. She won PLEDGED delegates 54-46 percent. Final pledged delegate count was 2205-1846. As Early Bird correctly notes, this is all in line with what polling said at the time.

Bernie did pretty damn good for a blustery old hippie with zero charisma, lucky for him he drew an opponent who nobody liked. But he still lost, fair and square, to the opponent nobody liked, by a comfortable margin. All the butthurt whingeing in the world isn’t going to change that.

This time Bernie is going to have to beat like 20 opponents instead of one, and there’s gonna be a whole other world of butthurt again when he loses to Kamala or Beto or Biden or whoever. It’s gonna be the same old “DNC stole it from poor old Bernie” bullshit again, I can see it happening already, because people like Ntilakilla here (I see them in my Facebook feed all day long) think there is literally NO WAY Bernie can lose unless it is stolen from him. That he is so righteous and popular and God-like that The Man is just gonna do whatever it takes to keep him down.

Never mind the fact that even if he won the presidency, Bernie would still have to deal with Mitch McConnell and Blue Dog Democrats and the same bullshit that any mere mortal Democrat would have to deal with, and that the results from President Harris (or whoever) probably wouldn’t look all that different from the results of President Sanders. No. Those other candidates all suck. Only Bernie is virtuous and true. Only Bernie can save us.

It’s MAGA in reverse.

I think this blog needs to go on hiatus so everyone can chill until May 14th which is when the draft lottery is held.

What, and not get any more great recipes? No way.

@150 – Thanks. all bases have now been covered

Maybe he’s still hurt or whatever, but Reddish looked like trash today. I really hope the Knicks don’t end up with him. Barrett did not impress me much either, he played tentatively most of the game.

I’m happy to be dumber than most of you when you start on these tangents. I just watch.
