It’s been a rather stunning 11-game run for Mudiay as starter. He had flashes in the first half draining a corner 3 — after missing his first five shots — in the final seconds of the half that pushed the Knicks’ lead to 11. He got to the rim early in the fourth for two easy driving buckets. He was a plus-15 running the show in the opening half.

Some in the league believe the Knicks are stocking up their young assets and will make a major play for Wall if he becomes available. The Wizards (9-14) were said to be ready to break it up after their disastrous start. It would have to be a three-team deal with the Knicks throwing in Ntilikina, Dotson, Courtney Lee (for cap purposes), a 2020 first-round and second-round pick.

Is there any question where Berman got the particulars of the trial balloon from….. a true sign of the coming apocalypse!!!

Ha, Bob! I had the exact same thought as you when I read that Berman article. We all pretty much know that Mills has been Berman’s source for years now and…well….holy fuck balls.

The best part about that possible Wall trade is how Berman framed it as Wall being this great get. We have all joked about the Knicks acquiring Wall later in his career for years now, but I honestly thought that it was just too Knicksy to ever actually happen. Now, well, with a Berman report like that, it suddenly seems a real possibility and…well…you know, like I just said, holy fuck balls!

Wall’s deal might be the one in the league that was already more certain to fail when it was signed than Noah’s so it stand to reason we’d give up two cost controlled assets and a couple of picks to acquire it.

Wall has this really healthy looking gray shade on his swollen face that might come when your liver and cardiovascular take regular night to night OH heavy lubrication combined with not enough rest. That and his MMW contract/ rurider allstar of course make him the Mordor target of the year…Can we really be this stupid?! 47M in 2023 for John on a Player option+15%TK…WOW

On a serious note…when Wiz started with real D in the third we had no chance. Nice to see our youngies fight though. We have some really good young material to develop.

What’s funny is that Chris Paul, for instance, will be insanely overpaid by the end of his current contract with the Rockets, but at the very least, he is Chris Paul, ya know? One of the best point guards to ever play the game. It means a little bit of something to say that you have Chris Paul on your team. John Wall, on the other hand, has done practically nothing in his career outside of making five All-Star teams (and likely a sixth this year by default). And he’s going to make a lot more than Paul’s horrendous contract. Could Wall’s extension be the dumbest extension in the history of the NBA?

I don’t buy the conspiracy theory. Berman floats so much BS, most of which has not panned out. Berman has been around for a long time and has sources all over the league. And this particular deal flies in the face of everything Mills and Perry have said publicly since Perry got here.

This is not to say that Mills doesn’t leak stuff, I’m sure he does. But to assume that every asinine thing that Berman says is out of Mills’ mouth is a huge reach.

Mills and Perry obviously plan to add a major star next season. That’s the only reason you’d stretch Noah before the season began, because you’re committed to signing a max free agent no matter what, so you figure that this way, you also get an extra roster spot this season. In other words, they’re all in on adding a major star to this team. The hope was always Kevin Durant, but if they don’t think that that is happening, it only becomes a question of whether they’re smart enough to realize that John Wall would be an insanely bad choice as the major star that they clearly intend on adding to the team. You could easily sell that aforementioned trade to the general audience (“He’s a five, soon to be six-time All-Star!) and remember, Mills wanted to deal the Knicks’ 2018 first rounder for Lowry in 2013-14, so it is hard to be too confident in Mills not being that dumb.

I certainly hope that they’re not that dumb.

Berman was way to specific for it to be random…. note he didn’t mention Mudiay or Hardaway…. the new FO’s guys….. only Phil’s guys…..

What!?!! The particulars of this trade are so bad they must be coming from Grunfeld, not Mills. *We* are the team that has to throw in the picks!? Yeah, right.

Even Mills couldn’t be this stupid, right? (Please confirm, I’m nervous.)

Hey Hubert…. this is the great John Wall…. a “STAR!!!” We’d be fortunate not to have to give this years pick, too 🙂
