NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round Prediction Thread!

I thought this might be a fun thing to do…

Since the polls don’t track who voted for what, feel free to make a comment, as well, to take credit for your predictions.

Which destination for Zion will hurt the most?

I think Chicago is up there.

I was actually going to rank this the other day!

I think Bruno nailed the worst outcome: Dallas.

LA, Chicago, and Cleveland would all be very annoying since they’ve all had way too much luck.

New Orleans and Phoenix would suck from the sense that it’s dumping Zion in a shit market.

If it’s not us, the only teams that wouldn’t really piss me off are Atlanta and Washington.

Brian, the Celtics and Bucks games are now showing up for me on this thread as polls!

I went for Bucks in a sweep, Raptors in 5, Sixers in 6 and Celtics in 7. It wasn’t intentional that it went in order like that, but considering these are listed in order of seed I guess it makes sense.

I want to see Zion in the playoffs before his first max deal, so Washington would be rough. They’re so fucked for like four years. He wouldn’t play a meaningful game until 2022 at the earliest.

Bucks and Giannis. Because he’s Greek!

Honestly, I think he’s operating at a level right now that few have recently reached. He is as dominant on defense as he is on offense and he has something prove. Losing Brogdon is a chink in their armor and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Philly or Toronto go through but I have to think it’s the Freak’s year.

And I agree about the Wizards. New Orleans probably in the same bucket. Hate to see AD all over again.

I made a $20 bracket with a few guys in my industry. Picked Bucks over Warriors in the Finals…

If you added Zion to the Wizards, I think they could compete for the playoffs in probably year two of his contract.

Satoransky/Washed-up Wall
Beal
Ariza
Zion/Portis
Bryant

I think they’re closer to mediocrity than you would expect. I mean, compare that roster to the Pistons:

Jackson
Ellington
Brown
Griffin
Drummond

I think the Wizads would compare fairly favorably.

Their upside would be, like, #7 seed, so yeah, not a good place for Zion in general, but in simply “just compete for the playoffs” terms, I think that they’d basically be there very quickly.

I’ve picked up the Bucks to best the Rockets in the finals in a poll with a group of friends, but I will admit it’s a lot more wishful thinking than analysis. I just hope we don’t get a garbage finals like last season, which was truly incredibly boring to watch after JR’s crazy blunder ended the Cavs biggest chance.

I saw some stat saying The Bucks had over 20 wins this year where they won by more than 20 points or something like that and that the previous 7 teams to do that all won championships.

Bucks in 4, Raptors in 5, Sixers in 5 (this could change drastically if Embiid is hurt…), Celtics in 6.

This was the only Rise of the Sky Walker that I was interested in before now.

the only difference to the majority – I picked nets in seven…

interesting to see some folks picking the pacers over the celtics…

Oh man, Cronin. How do you do that?

I think losing Brogdon is a blow to their dominance. Still a good team though.

Bucks in 5
Raptors in 6
76ers in 5
Celtics in 7

Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Bucks and 76ers sweep. Also wouldn’t be surprised to see Indy beat Boston though I’m rooting for the Celtics because I think the further Boston goes in the playoffs the more likely it is Kyrie resigns with them. I really don’t want to sign a flat earther with multiple major knee injuries to a max contract.

I kept waiting for the Eastern Conference thread, and here it was all along. Grocer is bad at scrolling.

Bucks in 4
Raptors in 4
Sixers in 6
Pacers in 6

Good point about Kyrie, I guess I should root for Boston. ugh.
