Game Thread: New York Knicks vs. Denver Nuggets

Frank Ntilikina makes his (hopefully not embarrassing) return tonight!

That’s enough to tune in just to see how he does!

Let’s go, Frank!

It’s so funny how I’ve basically given up on all of the Knicks young players, not so much because I don’t think they’re worth paying attention to, but more because I think the Knicks, with their pursuit of KD and Irving, will likely be trading all of them as soon as possible.

So whether I like Frank or not, it seems like he is almost certainly going to be gone (and so will Knox and DSJ, probably).

as rough as frank is going to the hole he at least looks for mitch early as opposed to mudiay. who was the guy who loved the mudiay trade because he “plays with his head up?”

Mudiay threw a nice lob there to DAJ. It was sort of painful watching him dunk though. Barely got it over the rim.

i flipped back to zion but i’m impressed
the boxscore says frank buried a three after airmailing that try from the corner

Zion is really putting on a show. The only thing that can hold Duke back is their ridiculous insistence on not putting the ball in his hands every single opportunity.

And the fact they can’t shoot for shit from three.

Watching Jokic post up Knox was like watching a train wreck in real time

Whether Hezonja is in the NBA next year is a fascinating question. I am only half joking. He does such a credible job of looking like an NBA player. And his block on Lebron probably will keep people interested by itself, people being dumb.

It’s obvious the ball movement, player movement, and defense are all better when Frank is on the court. I can’t say for sure if he’s ever going to start hitting 3s at an acceptable rate and finishing a little better at the rim, but he brings so much to the table outside of the boxscore, if someone is patient enough to work with him and wait a few years, they may get a very good all around player.

Yeah, was about to post that. But he has taken 17 shots!

Nice follow from Mitch there. And then a great block on Jokic which was called a foul for no reason.

It’s amazing how groundbound Jokic is. He got the ball in front of the rim and didn’t even jump. He didn’t come off his heels. He just sort of forked it in there. And it doesn’t matter.

Amazing sequence from Robinson. Perimeter block and then runs the floor for the transition dunk. And kept his streak of 2 dunks a game going for 21st game.

I like that Mitch.

And then snarfles a rebound and coolly lays it in. He’s good.

Although he got beat by Plumlee there pretty bad. Nuggets are a fun and awesome team.

Is it physically possible to grow 1/2 inch or more in two months when you are 20 years old?

I swear Frank looks taller than he used to be standing next to a few players. He may be getting close to 6’7″.

Frank Ntilikina sure looks like a basketball player when he has a modicum of aggression in his game. Nice first game back for him.

And I’m starting to come around on Jarrett Culver, who looked great in the first tourney game for Texas Tech. I would have expected nothing less considering it’s the 3-14 match up, but I’m feeling like he’s going to make this a four player draft.

Yeah, not ready to give up on Frank. But I do wish we had one of these Nuggets guards instead of him. Or Mudiay. Who is looking more and more likely to be back on some dumb deal.

Frank and Trier may have the most M&A synergies of any teammates ever. They have almost no redundant skills.

I was at the game and barely paying attention, but when I was, really impressed with the Nuggets. They whip the ball around and every shot is a good one. And Jokic somehow manages to slow the game down to his tempo and pretty much does whatever he wants out there.

culver’s got a game you can’t help but like… some ppl might call me crazy but he absolutely has a shot at being like grant hill…

Tacko probably can’t play in the NBA but it’s really fun to watch him lumber around and dominate college kids

James Harden is not a superstar.

The Houston addition he was most excited about was Omer Asik, not Harden. Heh.

How many 60 pt games is that for him? He had one last year, yes?

This is his second…this season!!!

In-sane.

“anyway, again, the beautiful thing about this trade is that we can stop having this argument over and over. Harden is now a primary option, so we can see for ourselves.”

Despite being proven wrong Jon Abbey did not, in fact, stop having that argument over and over again.

I love Giannis, but Harden is the damn MVP this year. Giannis is the engine that powers the soon-to-be 2019 NBA Champions, but Harden is the MVP.

Dolan’s Razor dictates that we pick fifth, and that Zion, Ja, Barrett and Culver are the first four picks.

Dolan’s Razor further dictates that we draft Cam Reddish to keep Knoxie and Frank company down there in negative WS48 land

I don’t think even Dolan’s Razor will lead to them picking Cam Reddish. I think the Knicks likely will end up with “only” a top five pick, and that is “Dolan’s Razor” enough, really. That already is a big let down, ya know?

And this is why Durant might leave $50mm on the table in GS.

I’ll bet you next year he has more of the top ten scoring games than Harden (or anyone).

For per game season average, Harden is sitting at #7 all time with this season, 0.61 below Jordan’s best year at #5 (87). All the others above him are Wilt. Harden is having an historically potent year. Durant’s best is down at #26 in 2014. You can’t seriously think that 2020 Durant will be better than 2014 Durant.

And Wilt was god mode. In 82 Jordan dropped 3,041 points. Wilt’s high was 4,029. Harden is at 2,517 with 13 games left. These are some fucking rarefied heights.
