I predict he will pick the Pelicans. It’s not that I know anything special, it’s just that is what usually happens with stars who become free agents who have no special reason to leave their current team.

    Per Ian Begley

The Knicks will have the same starters on Friday as they have the past two games. So Emmanuel Mudiay, Tim Hardaway Jr., Mario Hezonja, Noah Vonleh and Enes Kanter will start against New Orleans. Ron Baker is under the weather and may not be with the team on Friday.

A lot of people hawking (hocking?) Knix tix as I ran past the Garden a few minutes ago. If it weren’t for pizza with the family, I’d have liked the chance to watch Davis in person for $20.

Dotson seems to have been pushed out of the rotation by Knox’s return from injury.

Can we please put a defender in there to slow Hardaway down?

    This is comical.

    I meant Holiday

Frank is in. Guards Holiday. Holiday misses a contested drive. Wierd how these things happen

Frank with the block and then the 3, but he sucks. 🙂

Sometimes I think defense is more than 50% of the game because good defense so often seems to lead to better opportunities on offense.

Mitchell Robinson rebounds like Kristaps Porzingis.

Hopefully he’ll improve when he has ohhhh… 400 minutes past high school.

I take it back, Vonleh is our 2nd best two-way player.

He just seems to have bad hands. I don’t have anything against him (other than my clear preference for Vonleh to be the starter next to KP and not Mitch), but I’m not optimistic that he can become a double digit rebounder in this league.

Can we just end the Mario Hezonga experiment already? Maybe he was worth a flyer, (we should be known as The Second Chance Knicks) but he’s shown absolutely nothing and we know he’s not part of the long term plan.

Just stick his ass on the bench and let him go after this season.

Vonleh is killing it lately, especially tonight.
He should be the starting power forward going forward.

@21 yes, there are plenty of rootable players. They play hard. The most veteran players are @26 (other than the other ot playing Lee and Thomas). There is no standing around to argue while a fast break is going in the opposite direction…

I don’t know how we got so lucky to sign Noah Vonleh for pennies, but we need to pay that man long term. If he’s your 4th best starter, you’re probably a 55 win team at worst.

@23 the only thing I don’t like about his team so far is we complain to the refs all the time.

I kinda like the way our rotation is split. I like Burke with the 4 young guys. Only thing I would change is Dotson for Hezonja in the starting lineup.

Vonleh really is perfect with KP. Mitchell might make KP a 4 which I don’t think is his ideal position.

Yeah, Vonleh is consistently showing a lot to like. The tough rebounding was sort of expected as he’s always been good, but he has moved well on defense, he sets good screens, has good range and is even hitting 3s now. He’s looking like a very decent starter.

Also I just love how Trier keeps attacking the rim and taking quality shots, it’s a very good trait to have in a rookie.

Frank with the block and then the 3, but he sucks. 🙂

Don’t make me point it out every time dude dribbles across half court, dumps the ball to whoever is standing at the top of the key, then disappears for the rest of the possession. Because that will get old real fast.

Don’t look now, but Collin Sexton is balling. He’s been playing well lately.

I really wonder what Mudiay’s downhill style, and his newfound ability to convert lay-ups, would look like in a line up with Kristaps Porzingis. Mudiay has turned it on these past few games and I’m impressed. Annoyed because we need losses, but impressed nonetheless.

If they’ve figured out how to not collapse in the fourth it could really fuck with our draft position.

What would be more Knicksy than a big game by Emmanuel Mudiay to give us a win on the same night Cleveland gets a win and Phoenix might win too.

Can we extend Mudiay now? 🙂

    That’s Fiz’s “offense…..

If the Knicks beat AD and Kyrie in the same week, I hope they call each other and decide to come here this off season.

You know what? Winning home games in front of exuberant crowds is ok with me. There will be plenty of road losses to come.

What a game for GoNyGoNyGo to attend! Lucky son of a gun! What a crazy fourth quarter! What a game!

Bring back KP and go for the 8th seed. lmao

Seriously, they have a lot of players that are very close to being good. 🙂 With a little more experience this team will be fun. With KP, they’ll be a LOT of fun.

Mudiay has hit 5 straight clutch free throws and has 4 steals I must be high

What’s funny is that, of the two guys in the fourth quarter, Mudiay’s baskets looked more sustainable than Trier’s, whose scoring seemed a bit more flukey. Mudiay had himself one hell of a fourth quarter.

Is Mudiay dare I say becoming a decent PG??

He hasn’t even turned 23 yet. I know he’s been the worst player in the NBA since he got drafted, and I’m not saying that he’s about to turn his career around. It’s nice to see him have a couple of good games as the starter, and it’s still possible he improves to where he’s worth another contract.

I’m all in on Vonleh, 14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals. And he had to guard AD.

    What a great pickup.

it’s still possible he improves to where he’s worth another contract.

The trick is that his cap hold is so high that he’d pretty much have to play so well that he would make getting a max free agent unnecessary or else they’d have to renounce him.

Here’s what’s surprising me about Mudiay:
He has finished drives in a variety of ways, much better body control than I recall from prior years
His jumper looks softer than in the past
    He’s committing fewer asinine turnovers
His defense is not as bad as I remember it to be

Perry looks pretty good right now with the Vonleh, Mitch, Trier, Mudiay and Burke acquisitions.

We all mocked Fiz for saying he was going to get Mudiay right. Maybe he knew what he was talking about?

Well they won’t have to renounce him unless a max guy agrees to sign, no? If KD agrees to come you say thanks Mudiay, good luck on your next team. And there’s a long way to go in the season yet- Mudiay has scored well and while he’s not a great defender he’s getting steals/blocks and really working on that end. His assist numbers are really poor though- hopefully those will pick up as he gains more confidence on offense. He could also revert right back to old Mudiay as well. Still that last lay-up over Davis was a beauty and this was a really fun win.

Well, it took Mudiay 20 shots to get to 27 and he shot 1-6 on threes, while Trier had a very efficient 25 in 12 shots with 3-3 on threes.

Mudiay did took over in the 4th and it was impressive, but Trier had overall a better game.

If it does get to a point where it looks like Mudiay and Burke are legit players, there’s a chance to get some value via trade. I’m still not convinced but it was a pretty good game by him.

Mudiay did took over in the 4th and it was impressive, but Trier had overall a better game.

Overall, to be sure, but in the fourth, Mudiay was amazing.

And oh yeah, of course, this is all extremely small sample size. Mudiay also had a nice stretch with the Nuggets last year that meant nothing in the long run, but hey, enjoy it while it lasts and hope for the best!

Knicks win! Another excusable win. The few times I go to a game, I want to see a win. To top it off, I got a parking spot on 7th and 32nd and I caught a t-shirt and my son caught two. I feel like a little kid!

Mudiay and Trier’s nice play aside, we gotta keep Vonleh long term. It’s not easy to get a guy who can give you a double double, 2 3PM, and 2 blocks consistently.

Glad for you, gnygnyg, I only go to a game or two a year and it’s always nice to see a win!

Would be very happy with just resigning all the young guys minus Hezonja (assuming Mudiay plays well this season) even if no max guy is coming. We could probably get vonleh for 4yrs 32M I bet.

Moving Hardaway and Lee is imperative if we want to keep all of our young guys and have max space. Get on it Perry.

Thanx Z. I don’t know how my son arranged it, but we got passes to the “board room” where we had bar food dinner that included sushi and mixed drinks all built into the price of the tix and coat check. I typically get seats in the back rows of the blue section. This was a real treat. Even my wife (who couldn’t name an NBA player beyond LeBron) had a good time.

David Fizdale to Mario Hezonja: ‘We’re Going To Get You Right’

It’s hard to know where this season is going to go, but if you add in KP, a little seasoning in terms of finishing games well, and a little less lineup shuffling, this team could be close to .500 (maybe 9-11).
